  • I LMAO at the "aye-aye" every time!

  • ill do something incredible that blows gods freakin mind!!! looooooooooooooooooooool

  • this would be a fantastic back song for captain america movie

  • For some reason I think this song could fit right in Wicked.

  • @StereotypeNerd96 haha i know right! i'm pretty sure its on purpose, it sounds like a combo of "I Wish" and "The Wizard and I"

  • @mpilch1 @StereotypeNerd96 Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez based this song off of 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked

  • @StereotypeNerd96 its suppose to be a allusion to wicked

  • @StereotypeNerd96 its based off the wizard and i

  • is anyone else reminded of don quixote and sancho panza?

    except mormon and singing

so i guess not much like them at all...

  • yayayayayayay!

  • Heaven and Kevin? I see what you did there

  • Sounds like Wicked. Is it just me?

  • @magicsparklyunicorns That's because almost all modern broadway music sounds the same

  • @magicsparklyunicorns yeah, that's exactly what I thought the first time I heard it! I was like "this sounds exactly like The Wizard and I". So then, I was looking at The Book of Mormon on Wikipedia and there's a section called 'parodies' or something, and almost every song is supposed to be like another one! And I was right about this one haha

  • for some reason, the second guy's voice always reminds me of kermit the frog

  • And as long as we stick together (And I stay out of your way) Out of my way (We'll change the world forever. And then tomorrow a Latter-Day) Mostly me! LOVE THIS SHOW!

  • Elder Price is a bit conceited/narcissistic, isn't he??? LOL

  • Hearing Josh Gad in these songs remind me so much of Mondo from Good Vibes. Josh Gad rocks!!!

  • @MrDevinjb Ditto dude. LOL ^_^

  • You know whats wierd? My cousin's name is Kevin and he's a mormon missionary who is currently in Africa....O.o

  • "Penis" God: Good Job Kevin.

  • That Blows Jobs Frekin Mind!!!

  • that was hilarious

  • and I'll stay out of your way

    Out of my way!!

  • "you've done an awesome job Kevin"~ God

  • i love the discussion here about whether it's spoofing Defying Gravity or TWAI. And some guy thinks it's For Good as well? Seriously have any of you ever LISTENED to the Wicked soundtrack? Those songs all share so much fucking leitmotif and god knows what else. It would actually be kinda tricky to just parody ONE song

  • I wish Neil Patrick Harris was in this!!!

  • It's a combination of "Wizard and I" and "Defying Gravity" to me. Also I felt a little "For Good" in there too.

  • my friend who picks me up to go to school had this playing the soundtrack of this musical once i got in. XD i think this is great.

  • I should probs stop singing this if my heard feels like its about to explde when singing that last note, right? haha

  • Guys....it's both songs just let it happen.

  • Anyone else think of, "The Wizard and I"?

  • I heard the blowjob subtext :P 1:36-1:37. No shit

  • @Darce223 SUP BRO?

  • @Darce223 I heard that too! LOL

  • @Darce223 haha! its actually blow gods freaking mind! but thats fuuny

  • @iloverent101 That's why it's subtext ;)

  • Wht´s there no reprise-versions on youtube? :(

  • Its not supposed to be a parody of anything.

  • @kristi5207 Take my word, it's definitely a parody of Wicked (halfway between the "Wizard and I" and "Defying Gravity").

  • @kristi5207 actually it was. defying gravity.

  • @kristi5207 As a Mormon, it sounds like a parody of EFY music, and a hilarious one.

  • my friend meghan sings this and says "youve done an awesome job, meghan!" lol i love this musical! but a lot of mormons dont, so meghan and i try not to make random b.o.m. musical references in church, but it always happens anyway. like this past week in seminary, i was talking about being a good influence to my friends, and the last thing i said (well, sang) was "i am a mormon, and a mormon just believes!" only the 3 of us that know the musical understood it lol

  • You've done an awesome job, Kevin! :D

  • Just fell in love. Ha!

  • I L0:00ve this song!

  • The best parodies are the ones where you're not quite sure it's a parody at first.

  • I heard it and was like, "No, it can't be Wicked..." BUT IT WAS!

  • i love this musical! thnx c, for showing me this.

  • What is this song supposed to be modeled after??

  • @sarahquayle97 Wicked.

  • 3 people are sidedishes on slightly smaller plates...

  • I'll do something incredible that'll blow God's freakin' miiiiind. I love that last note.

  • Can't WAIT for this to hit the PANTAGES!!

  • 1) Listen

    2) Replay

    3) Repeat

  • I think that the unexpected key change into the Bridge at 1.14 ( '' but mostly meee") and Rannells' voice in the following phrases- '' something incredible- I'll do something incredible'' is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in the musical theatre. Plus beautiful harmonies supported by lovely orchestration

  • trey and matt are amazing

  • They dont mock mormons... they re-create their daily lives.

  • Love all the homages. Ones I can think of: "Two by Two" - Annie (The "Orlando" part at least), "Hasa Diga Eebowai" - Lion King, "You and Me" - Wicked. Any opinions about other songs?

  • @CalmBlue "I believe" is "I have confidence in me" from Sound of Music.

  • Instrumental sounds like defying gravity

  • MY BEST FRIEND!

  • You know, it seems that Mormonism? is just the base of this play. The real topic is finding yourself.

  • It's kind of funny if you try to sing "Defying Gravity" over this- it fits PERFECTLYYYY.

  • We can do it together, you and me BUT MOSTLY MEEE!!!!

  • I live with Mormons.

    :x

  • @SpikeZombieLuff Sounds like absolute barrelfuls of fun, my friend.

  • @ThingsAreTurbulent Haha... No. >.>

  • Damn this is AWESOME.

  • As long as we're together....and I stay out of your way...

  • This entire score is in the key of Win. Thank you so much for posting these!

  • the music and tune is so classic Broadway

  • It's supposed to be a parody of Defying Gravity.

  • @emothebandgeek okay glad to know im not the only one who thought it sounded like wicked...

  • @emothebandgeek

I think it's more similar to The Wizard and I...

  • @KisaKub It's more similar in style to Defying Gravity but the theme is more like Wizard and I and the placement in the show is closer to Wizard and I.

  • @50bop I disagree. Its style is almost completely parallel to the Wizard and I. Like, look:

Elder Price's introductory part parallels Elphaba's.

It then switches to the main parts of the songs. "You and me, but mostly me..." and "When I meet the Wizard..."

Then we have the whole "Something incredible" and "Unlimited" ordeals.

Which break off into their dramatic ending bits. "And as long as we stick together" and "And I'll stand there with the Wizard".

I see no resemblance to Defying Gravity.

  • @KisaKub The opening guitar riff is exactly the same as Defying Gravity, although the set-up is more like Wizard and I.

  • @KisaKub The huge "Meeeeeeee!" at the end is undeniably Defying Gravity however.

  • @CalmBlue no, there's a part like that at the end of "the wizard and I".

  • @puppyluveromg Well, that's good. Because that is precisely not what I said.

  • @CalmBlue well then what did you mean?

  • @CalmBlue

Is it? I think it much more resembles the end of The Wizard and I with Elphaba's huge "IIIIIIIIII!"

  • @emothebandgeek actually its a parody of the wizard and i.

  • @puppyluveromg It has some of Defying Gravity's chords in it. It's not a parody of either, just an homage.

  • @emothebandgeek its The Wizard and I

  • @emothebandgeek actually, it's the wizard and i.

  • @emothebandgeek I think it is supposed to spoof "The Wizard and I" actually.

  • you did a great job kevin! :D

  • Ohai Mr. Stuart.

  • this is sooo a wicked parody! Yay wicked, and yay this!

  • I bet the vocals in this song blow God's freaking mind.... :D

  • so desperately want to see this! AH!

  • Well it is in the same key as defying gravity and uses a lot of the same chords just in a different progression.

  • BUT MOSTLY MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

  • BEST SONG OF ALL TIME. END OF STORY.

  • and ill stay out of your way

    OUT OF MY WAYY

  • oh thank god I'm not the only one picking up on Wicked elements.

  • idk if n e one else realizes but wicked inspired this song. starts with the wizard and i.... then hits some others and defying gravity.

  • @bxkforu101 Yeah, believe it or not I'm pretty sure EVERYONE noticed. Thanks.

  • @ReallyBigJump right. they are deliberately making references to other great musicals, but putting their own spin on it.

  • This and Wicked are my favorite musicals, and when my friend pointed out that defying gravity was being mocked here, i DIED. I LOVE THIS SONG it's so genius <3

  • @BellatrixNellieLovet or moreso "the wizard and i"

  • @BellatrixNellieLovet Pretty sure this is mainly "The Wizard and I"

  • @TSarducci Right that's what I meant.... no joke, though that seems convenient. Actually, if you play wizard and I with it, it almost matches!

  • Honestly, is really that good? Should I see it?

  • @Otterboy411 YES!!! i waited in line to see it for nine hours and it was SOOO WORTH IT i addicted

  • is this wickeddd, defying gravityy hahha omg i love this guys!

  • gigi is awesome in this

  • @acombs0102 What're you talking about? Wicked is a terrible show, of course this is better...

  • "that blows god's freakin' mind!"

"so quit singin' about it and do it"

"we can do it together, you and me, but mostly me!"

    <3

  • "So quit singing about it, and do it!"

probably one of the greatest lines in a musical

  • Wicked homage. :) The Wizard and I + Defying Gravity + Mormons + awesome = this song.

  • @craziestanimefan and add a little of (Avenue Q's) Princeton's personality and you get this exactly :)

(I don't think mormons are this selfish :p)

  • Wicked anyone?

  • @thomashester2 seriously! its even the same key!

  • Something I've foreseen now that I'm nineteen! Awesome.

  • Does anyone think Josh Gad sounds like the guy from Spelling Bee . I also know he did it!

  • My favorite song of this musical!

  • You and me but mostly me = Trey and Matt? lol

  • there is 1 to meny dislikes

  • Andrew Rannells is fantastic. :)

  • Wow that last note! Andrew killed this song.

  • HAHAHAHAHA! spoofing Wicked... win.

  • I want to hear Idina singing this! :O

  • @Kari166 but why did they spoof wicked its hardly religious !

  • "The Wizard and I"/"Defying Gravity", anyone? :DD

  • @Kari166 That's exactly what you are supposed to think, just like 'I believe' parodies 'I have Confidence' from The Sound Of Music! It's awesome!

  • @rainbowpride76, haha! I love it!~ *^_____^*

  • @Kari166 That was intentional. It was supposed to be a parody of The Wizard and I.

  • @NicoLOPoliz I was wondering what song it was being a parody of I knew it was from wicked I thought defying but i was wrong . Also the dancing is a parody of some musicals

  • If you guys watched the "month of mormon" videos it would explain why they did the things they did <_< try looking into it before bashing the fuck out of the musical. Its a great musical and everyone i know loves this music (even my mormon friends).

  • These are the South Park guys...I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be slightly ripped off. I know they wrote a song that's almost exactly like "I Have Confidence" from The Sound of Music. That's the point :)

  • @MsChristineMo they wrote the "book," but the music is the same as they guy that did avenue Q

  • Ok, so by it self I love the song. However the fact that the music is so similar to the music in Wicked (mainly Defying Gravity and The Wizard and I) annoys me alot. Isn't this plagiarism?

  • @kwanyin233 I'm not sure... a lot of "musical" music is like this, so everything would be plagiarism.

  • @kwanyin233 it's using the "conventions" of musicals....brilliant!!!

  • @kwanyin233: No.. this is parody! Hence when Elder Cunningham keeps singing "..My best friend!!!" They also reference The Lion King and several other famous Broadway musicals. And that was exactly the point.

  • @kwanyin233 Similar and plagiarism are two huge steps from each other, though I do agree they're very similar - there's a lot Andre Lloyd Webber in there too

  • @kwanyin233 the music is original music by the same guy who wrote avenue Q. It's really only vaguely musically similar to Wicked, which is much more melancholy in style and strict in structure. No, it is not plaigiarism.

  • @duwop8591 Plus, the co-orchestrator for this was Stephen Oremus, who was the musical director for Wicked and also a co-orchestrator...which helps explain why the orchestration here sounds similar.

  • I'll do something incredible.......That blows Gods freakin mind!

    I love Trey and Matt!

  • 1:15

    I was totally expecting "Unliiiimited!"

  • anyone else hear this and think Captain Hammer?

  • @losthippie88 ....justice has a name....and the name that it has....besides justice....is Captain Hammer...." and Elder Price...."It's a perfect story!!!"

  • @losthippie88 this to me totally sounds like Wicked

  • @losthippie88 Anyone else think of Wicked cause thats what I hear.

  • @losthippie88 OMG Yes, totally. I love that musical too.

  • @losthippie88 OOOOOH!!!!!

Sing along blog... don't get me started... ^__^

  • @SpoonsAtMidnight No reason not to get started, it is amazing!

Get up, go out and fly, especially that guy who smells like poo!

Everyones a Hero in their own way,

you and you and mostly me! and you.

  • @losthippie88 YES

  • @losthippie88

lol you have no freaking idea.

  • @losthippie88 No, Captain doesn't want to change the world, but I can hear a pre-Dr. horrible Billy.

  • @Mike0Powell I agree with you 110% (:

  • great song! :D

  • "And I can stand next to you and watch!" LOL!

  • wicked much? haha LOVE IT!

  • I never thought I'd say this is even better than Wicked.

  • @acombs0102

    completely agree

  • @acombs0102 "...but this is better than Wicked!" maybe?

  • @acombs0102

well, at around 0:29, it the instrumental kind of sounds like it...

  • Yes. I totally agree that it is just The Wizard and I and Defying Gravity. Especially the chords at 1:38

But it is hilarious and wonderful and I love it. I have listened to it like 12 times in the last hour.
