The choice to use a lot of 7th chords, instead of just making them majors in this song give it a real sneer on John's part, something that he never shied away from doing...it's like the Maharishi was never fooling John for one minute....and the 7ths bring that out, like the eye that never sleeps, always watching....John'd be like- "You nasty little Maharishi, I saw that!!"
I LOVE THIS SONG!....want to know something about the Beatles that they dare not print in the magazines...go to "eleanor rigby nzoz1971" and find my 3 comments.
John Lennon actually sung some of Pauls songs. They are outtakes though. The Beatles sound best in mono IMO. If you are not listening to their early albums in mono you are missing out on some things in the songs. The stereo versions of their songs sound just fine. Different, but ok.
He sung some songs that Paul would sing. It was all experimental stuff they did in the studio. Just look for sound clips. The Doors did that too. Ray would sing songs that Jim would write and that was all for fun as well.
COuld you give me a link or the titles of the songs? John and also Paul were very jealous of their own compositions. There are rare exceptions like Eight Days a Week, sung by John by written by MCartney, or Day Tripper, written by John but the lead vocal is Paul. Besides that, the only song sung in outtakes in that fashion that I know of is Get Back.
I am not home right now. Using a low end PC. I have heard the Get Back song sung by John though. When I get home in a few hours I will look them up. Since that is the only song i have heard John sing on other than his own written compositions.
Any song that (Sir??) John Lennon sings, no matter what the accompanyment if any at all, is a special deal to me. I Love hid voice, it's unsurpassed by far. He is a master of the vocalese!!!!!!! Johnny
@musicdream822 Sir John Lennon ???? Are you kidding - he would be making fun of Mccartney non stop for that "sir" stuff if he were still alive. He gave back his MBE - Imagine if they wanted to Knight him ????? He'd tell them to shove that sword they knight you with up their big fat asses !!!
@LODGE4444 Yes he did give back hes MBE but In later interviews he said he regreted giving it back, so maybe he would have loved to be knighted. But nobody will ever know.
