@worras2007 Tiger II was 20 tons heavier. IS-3 had better profiled, thicker armor. Tiger II has 88 mm KwK 43, and IS-3 had 122mm D-25T. But due to the higher muzzle velocity of German gun, it's penetration was a little better. Also IS-3 had lower rate of fire.

US sent over hundreds of M3 Lees, and the Russians wouldn't even touch them. Both Russian and German vehicles far surpassed any the US could even think to field. Don't kid yourself. @AcePilot590 Well, they're basically in the same family. The IS-7 eventually became the T-10/T-10M, the last example of the Soviet heavy tank family and served in East Germany until 1969.

@ursa41 T-10 came from IS3 not IS7, T-10 is basically upgraded IS3 tank with better protection due to composite armor unlike IS-3. Only about 7-10 IS7s were made. Reason was simple, soviet union didn't want to built tanks over 50 metric tons because there is a difficulty in transportation and also many bridges in europe and russia have weight limits. IS7 was closer almost 70 tons battle ready. In my opinion they should continue making IS7 tank because it was a true masterpiece.

The IS7 was not good thats why they droped it, even by low russian standarts the interior layout was cramped, the ammo was large and heavy resulting in a very low rate of fire, it was impossible to reload the mashin guns under fire. IS7 suspension was extrem weak and constantly a reason for brake downs The T10/IS8 is based on a mix experimental tanks, engine from IS4/IS6, tracks from IS4, gun IS2/IS3, calling it upgraded IS3 is like saying a Kingtiger is a upgraded Panther

@Hatinonthehaters The D25T was a powerful gun - against fortifications but it depended on skill and ammunition used. The A19 was more focused in the HE role as a field gun - it didn't have the high velocity of dedicated AT guns such as the BS-3 or D10T but it did fire a bigger HE round. Nonetheless IF the gun could fire AP shells against Tiger I's at a proper angle and assuming the ROF was proper then no doubt it was able to defeat a Tiger. Better than the 85mm gun.

Yet the Germans usually named thier vehicles after animals - hunting cats for the matter.

I mean hell. The Pershing was named after John J. Pershing, who was still alive (until 1948), and if you think that's bad, George H.W. Bush has a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier named after him, and he's very much alive..

@wun1gee Look if it was named AFTER someone then it's fine and i get were your coming from but the fact is Stalin, like most dictators, was full of himself. He named a frickin city after himself (which Hitler wanted so badly he sacrificed thousands for it, and lost the caucasas) but Hitler didn't name anything after himself.
