1995 17yrs old, YBOR City FLA. The Rave scene was just a bunch of kids with no rules, no limits and seemingly no end. I miss it. Those days were true freedom! True expression! True community LOVE <3 "A higher state of Consciousness"
This is not the "original version", this is the "2003 version" so you can read it on the label. By the way, the original SR single, from 1995, has got three numerated versions, the third one is called "tweeking acid funk" mix, the breakbeat version. In any case, I love all of them. Thx bro.
haha probs. Got tired of the old gang back home and decided to move to the cities with piglet and now they are dj-ing up a storm. good stuff they got going on! lol
It' not sneaker pimpish, or fatboyish. It's winky, it's winky, a wonderfull wonderfull toy; it's winky, it's winky, it's fun for a girl and for boy. I trimmed my winky of my pubic infestation; it's definitley a new experience.
@psympson My dear House Music Lover, I respect your opinion so I am not voting your comment down. In my opinion The Tweeking one is by far superior, but my most most favorite music is Acid, so no wonder I disagree. Nevertheless, the Original reminds at The Orb and early House Music. When I heard the Acid version the first time I had a MUSICAL ORGASM, I cried because I was so happy. Best regards and Peace.
@immunetocommonsense Hi there! Oh, don't misunderstand me. I LOVE tweeking one too, but this version has some strange feeling, some sinister touch that attracts me like a bear to a honey jar. It's like "Acid Tracks" by Phuture, I could be listening to that track for hours and not getting bored, so hypnotic, the same as "Turkish Bazar" by the marvelous Emmanuel Top. Best regards! ;)
It has been years since I heard it, but I specifically remember back in 94 that there was this one old Strictly Rhythm comp that came out that had all these crazy deep and chill tracks on it. One of the tracks was an amazing downtempo version of Higher State of Consciousness (I can't remember perfectly, but this might be it?). Then, later, In 95 that tweeky version came out that everybody loved. I was mega-bummed because I ran out to get the single and the downtempo version *wasn't* on it! :(
While I'm at it, anyone remember an old school compilation called "Big Hard Disk" (1 and 2)? It was OK, not great, but my first intro into electronic music (circa 1992) and very nostalgic for me. Anything from it on youtube?
put a sax solo over this, it would sound even more wicked!!!

Sorry to be dumb but if this is the original what's with the 2003 on the label?
If I remember right the 1995 release was a different mix, the 1996 release was the Dex & Jonesey rmx and the 2007 version was the Dirty South rmx.

I'm trying to find the version from the "Urbal Beats" compilation. This is cool though, I never heard this one before. More on the ambient side.
