@rickymontero i have no idea as I have never been asked. should assume cost of all pieces and up to 3 hours of work. Check out the links I have found the tape and made a much higher resolution of this tape.

im lookin to a "Gateway MX6000 Synaptics Touchpad + Cable 920-000241-02" on ebay, what do u think?

@rickymontero go to the dell site and MAKE SURE it has synaptics drives associated with it. its been my experience that dell more uses alps than synaptics. You can also see by looking at the chip. unless its the epoxy glob, itl have the the company logo on it.

hell yeah!!!! i've been looking for a chip diagram like you have here. You don't know how much of a help this video have been. Forget those noobs that say your vid don't explain enough. the way i see it is, "if you cant understand what the guy on the video is doing, then don't try it!" now im going to try to mod my arcade stick, to work with touch!

i really don't care, my actions and pic are very clear. One thing is that my voice is not microphone friendly... so i don't.. also I also like people guessing the background noise. don't like video, just boo it, its fine, all in all thanks for the interest and now that I have a decent high speed back I can continue to post them. I have 20 tapes of interesting things to post now...

Tips for a better vid:

~Turn off the TV and explain what you are doing (if I hadn't been so interested in the idea, I would've stopped the vid 2 minutes in...just too boring).

~We don't need 5 minutes of video showing us the pad works. A simple left click, double click, right click, and scroll will suffice.

These are just some tips. Overall a great project. Too bad I hate touch pads, lol. Give me a mouse or touch screen and i'm happy :)
