Yall, please forgive people for talking, more folks were listening as we are now. We all, don't notice and miss out on things of peace and beauty every day, don;t we? Love, b
@Danko1229 I feel the same way; it just breaks my heart to think of how he must have felt. Rick didn't only have an awesome talent but a kind and gentle spirit as well. I feel bad when I see any of the former Band members (Levon; Rick; Richard; Garth) playing venues such as this; knowing that Robbie was sitting up in his fancy home that was paid for by the royalties the others worked so hard to attain. We all know how terrible it made Richard feel. I miss them both immensley.
No doubt. If you were there and running your mouth that night, you know who you are. I hope you see this now and feel regret.
This reminds me of seeing Elliott Smith open for Sebadoh in the mid-nineties. Folks were milling around and talking all the way through Elliott's set. The first thing Lou Barlow did when Sebadoh took the stage was scold the crowd for being assholes. I liked Sebadoh when I walked in; I loved Lou when I walked out.
@jayrayfrisbee a bunch of stupid drunk yuppies who had no clue. I think if Rick was still with us he would have made a major comeback like Levon because now all thoss same assholes realize the crap they have been listening to for years is just that..crap. He would have been up at Woodstock doing the Midnight Rambles with his old buddy...could you imagine...?
I worked at a small concert hall in the early nineties. I heard that Ricks management offered Rick for around 2000 dollars. Ufortunenately the place didn't have that kind of money at the time. I still regret I didn't take a loan and paid for an evening with Rick - even the bastards who talk instead of listening wouldn't have spoiled my evening...My God, I miss Ricks fragile music
Beautiful sensitive Rick, A supreme artist. Taught Dylan so much. Saw him in Dublin many, many years ago. Nobody talked while he was playing there. Like many artists he took drugs to gain access to the place his gift came from.. The Rock business, like many businesses is full of sharks and opportunists.. Rick, with his gentle, untamed spirit and his true, wild gift, was not able to make it into millionaire old age like many of those around him..
I JUST started getting into The Bad- Rick especially. Rick's music seems to stick out like an enjoyable sore thumb. I just picked upo his 1977 solo album and it's really awesome. The live version of "It makes no difference" off of TLWaltz is really really amazing. He passed away pretty young did he not?
Rick Danko was, by far, the best stage performer that lived. He didn't sang twice the same song. Every time he sang a song, he put his soul on it, you could see that he was living the moment, he was not thinkin about anything, just feeling the tune and showing us it He was exactly where he wanted to be. I, as a guitar player and singer, am deeply in love with the way that he performs. He was one of a kind!!
I saw him, and the Band in the early eighties, it was at FM Station, an after hours club, they were not advertised, word of mouth filled the place. The crowd had more famous night owls than North hollywood had seen in years. They didn't want to quit playing and we didn't want them to. I've rued some dawns and that was a major one, thank God he played small clubs. It was an honor to see them in that venue.RuthVaillette
Publicists don't book shows for artists. Booking agents do. Rick played clubs for more than 20 years, long before Ringo's tour, in addition to playing large stadiums and concert halls. He played clubs this size during the same era he played at The Wall in Berlin for thousands and thousands. And he was loved by all.

I feel sad that he allowed himself to sink down to the dinner club circuit. He obviously had no decent publicist after the Band and Ringo Starr's All Stars. I love him still, RIP Rick.
The Trio and their music are without equal - even today. It's no wonder they won a Norwegian Grammy for their first album. Rick Danko was born to sing these songs. What an amazing legacy!
Robertson did pretty good, by ripping off the rest a little, but he makes lousy music... Ricky made pretty good tunes, but he was never able to retire with the little money he made, although he got clean before he died and wrote some of the best post-Band songs and never lost his vocal abilities
i think i heard this set on the radio a few years ago. I haven't been able to find it since. any suggestions
