  • I remember hearing this song a long time ago when I was about 3 or 4. It was late at night and we used to live out in an apartment complex. My mom was walking me home that night and someone was playing this song out their car radio. It was cold out but hearing those chiming in the song and her voice. Then looking up at the stars in the sky...

This song has a special part in me. Just something was special about that moment.

  • I knew who Mary J. was back in the day, but I had no appreciation of her until some asshole sent his 13 CDs from Columbia House to my address, which I opened, played, and kept :)

I've been a life long fan since. I love this woman, her whole thing, her brand. She pretty much defined what good R&B should sound like for the 90s (and there was some great sh!t out there, of course). Love her.

  • I like this version better than the remix..

I didn't realize Terrence Howard was in the video.

  • 13 ppl have amnesia ?

  • luv this song

  • Dear Holy God above, Please grant the singers/rappers of today the ability to see that this is true music, that this brought the crowds running, that this is actual talent. Please let them see that layering auto-tone over a shitty voice only makes a shitty computerized voice. Please let the musicians of old come back in full force, and influence today's children the way they're supposed to be influenced. For this I pray. Sincerely, Sexxyperv. Amen.

  • I rememeber when this dropped. I was in 7th grade and flyest girl in the school was performing this in front of the class and staring at me the whole time. My joint was BRICK.

  • Must be nice to have sweet memories and not just bitter ones.

  • @wgamador I agree. It seems like it's so much easier to remember the bad times than it is to remember the good times.

  • the only word that comes to mind when it comes to Mary is voice. she's a voice for women, for the middle class, for the ghetto, and her longevity is proof positive of being in touch with folks. this, though, will always be my favorite Mary song, when she was young and hungry, she was just Diva. Love it. Thank you.

  • Patrice Rushen put this song in the early 80's .

  • @siricet81 Thanks, thats exactly the song I was looking for!

  • Her name is Patrice Rushen. She is a musical genius herself.

  • we used to stand around on 125th st in harlem in front of the Apollo theatre every saturday night back in the day while this song was blasting out of somebodys car just singing this shit over and over!!!!! Those were the damn days!

  • the first time I ever heard this song, I was sitting in a barber shop near the campus of Winston-Salem State Univ. I decided to enroll in college after I got out of the Navy. So I moved to Winston-Salem, NC and got a little apartment near campus...so, Im sitting there in the barber shop, reading Ebony magazine and this song comes on. I swear to God, the hair on my forearm stood straight up as soon as heard her voice. That album started the Mary J soundtrack to my life.

  • Bought the 12 inch single to this when it came out.

It will always be my favorite Mary J song.

Just oh so smooth. Miss this kind of music.

Man, can't believe how long it's been, since those days ! (:

  • those 9 people that say they dnt like this song....must be smokin some serious s@#!

  • @shannwhite29 they are either foreigners or under the age of 1 month.

  • @StylistecS

what stupid and racist comment to say. What made you think they can be foreginers? Foreginers appreicate good music as anyone else. For your records American aritsts from 70s, 80s and 90s are appreicated more in Europe than the US, you can ask the likes of Alexander O'neal, Tina Turner.

  • @npscholes You didn't read the comment I responded to and you also read to much in that comment. I didn't say Foreigners didn't appreciate good music. But most of the younger ones or people that never heard it will speak ill towards this. That is fact.

  • a legend and a icon only one mary j blige

  • Bring back 90's r&b pleeeeeeeeease! Enough of this commerial rubbish- bring the soul back into soul

  • @katochable Say I agree but ya know the music industry goes with the figure; the money count! They seem to believe what the public likes when they don't! The artist is ignored most of the time, this is what Prince was so hot under the collar about. the artist is just a cash cow, never mind the creative mode of the one with the gift by God to do what they do!

  • It's amazing how just hearing the first few bars of this song can bring back so many memories. LOVE MARY J.!!!!!

  • i was born in 80 and and grew up in the 90's . today's rnb will never compare. the 90's was so soulful!!

  • 90 s defo the best in R&B...had somehow more quality...there is too much of the same nowadays...

  • 1990's r&b is untouchable. tell me this song doesn't go right through you...

  • OMG! TERRANCE HOWARD!

  • Anyone from the South Florida area? Mar J was one of the hottest acts back in the early 90s, which was completely different than the late 90s. The local Box Network had her featured on several local stages, and her local performances were second to none! You Remind Me & Real Love were her two top songs of that time and propelled her to the top.

  • This album got me into R&B. I used to listen to rap only, but after my mom played this album over and over, i loved it.

  • Mary is bringing it on this record! This and 'Real Love' are two of her best songs, and the raw emotion she conveys through her voice stirs the soul. None of the crappy pseudo-R&B coming out now can touch this.
