I love this song to death and I love this version of it but... the strings are being plucked so hard it sounds like someone's slaughtering the poor guitar. XD

that's the point. the guitar is supposed to be plucked hard. from the person's perspective, the world is disturbed. someone DIED and a part of her died with them. She's singing about the afterlife. the sound is supposed to portray that feeling of loneliness, it's almost grotesque.
