When you get high enough say cloud base you just head off down wind looking for the next thermal if you don't get one enjoy the view for 10 or 15km until you land :)
Not sure how many years ago but it was in July/August and his helmit has improved since then, It was a light wind day many pilots went down while Jim went up ?
