  • This is just whack!Because Jim could have been accepted into any college with a brain like his!

  • This was the real Jim Morrison the oddness was just an act, a way to seem different.

  • @Thescreensaverr Lol...so what you're saying is, Jim Morrison acting in a video was the real Jim Morrison but Jim Morrison in real life was the fake Jim Morrison. Lol...wow, I haven't laughed that hard in a while, thanks.

  • @365to173repubsPWNED Youre welcome.

  • Rob Murray and jim morrison henrix curt cobin has a small penis

  • I have read a lot about him, and there are many opinions and percetions to take into consideration. My best guess comes from the Doors documentary : When You're Strange. In the film, they express that Jim had many sides, he could be cold and cruel, loud and wild, calm and curious, shy and gloomy, or eager and social. He was a chameleon, judging by this clip and what the docmntry. shows, I still say, at that point he had not yet fully committed to breaking through, he was still soaking up ideas.

  • The great thing about art and music is that you're free to do your own thing and innovate.

Jim made a good choice to not be a part of the disgusting cookie-cutter conformist society.

  • @BowetBurger Really? Was it a stock film clip, or did Jim film it? How did your mom's friend find out about it: did he remember Jim making the film assignment with his class, or did he happen to watch it when it was found and recognize himself in it, remembering his part in it then? Was he in Tallahassee?

  • The voice-over: that is funny! I think I read that he couldn't decide whether to use one or not, then committed to it, ran out of money to pay for the rest of it, then ran out of time. But at that time, every PSA on TV had that kind of too-cool, "classy" narrator, with the same mid-range to high voice. Remembering that, plus the indecision, make it really funny.

  • I am sure that I read something about this long-lost school project back when it was still long-lost. I believe that I read that the teacher was a friend to Jim, that Jim liked him and admired him. His molasses-southern manner does not mean that he could not have been a decent, understanding, maybe even brilliant man, maybe Jim's faculty advisor, or perhaps an encouraging English teacher.

  • In 1964, things started changing as the number of counterculture-identified kids started growing, to the point that their wishes were difficult to ignore. But in 1963, you can bet that FSU had a dress code, and probably even UCLA had some kind of standard of appearance that would have been difficult to defy if you wanted to accomplish anything in school, if not an actual code.

  • @3Hits4Felix This was not Jim before he started thinking for himself. He was already doing that. It wasn't even before he had long hair; Jim had long hair in 1961, and had let his hair grow as long as he could get by with in high school. But he was a college student on a conservative campus, the only place he could go to school at the time.

  • fuck the shut up college :F

  • That was a joke. So was the whole death thing. Do the funky chicken all over my empty grave. Don't believe everything you read. Think for yourself. TLK

  • @Dropz4u Lol I read one of his biographies and it stated he was saying that quite fequently before his death. I think very few people get that lol. I've been saying the same thing for years since I read that. It continues to crack me up... A DO THA FUNKY CHICKEN!!!

  • Your a lost......... little girl..........

  • why did he do this vid?

  • Ahhhh...the irony.

Poor kid. I wonder what he did after this conversation with the Dean of Admissions?

  • If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it.

  • born in melbourne baby

  • "Well, fuck it! I'm going to UCLA's film school, then!" LOL

  • Jim shouldve said "Im gonna be the greatest Rock N Roll Star /poet ..F-College !!

  • Wudnt it be awesome if they would have kept following morrison after he gets rejected? He goes inside his house, flops down on the couch and is like... "Fuck this." Rock music comes on, he takes off his shirt, drops like 10 hits of acid and starts tripping balls.

  • @luchador1764 lmaoooo

  • i remember when this hit yahoo news

  • is this avaliable publically

    any more info

    internet archives

is this still under copyright or public domain

  • cool vid! but say anyone know where i could find the video jim morrison made for the unknown soldier, where he is executed? not that i would like to see him shot, just something i heard of but would be interested in seeing.

  • Well now,

    planning ahead aye?

    You know,

"you can't petition the govt. w/ prayers..."

  • My mom's boyfriend is among the high school students

  • Morrison looks totally cool talking to the suit behind the desk............Morrison's comet as a Rock Legend is about to take off, and that guy hasn't got a clue. However, Jim does look good in his suit.

  • He kinda makes me think of harrison ford when he's talking to the proffessor.

  • Morrison made by gouverment... that´s the fucking truth folks... hahaha

  • @121maddin1 is gouverment a word now? or is it still government? the way we were taught in the fucking 3rd grade, let me know if there was a change, thanks

  • @stevieray351 nothing changed "made by government" , thank you for teaching...

  • he looks like JFK in this one:)

  • Your state didn't "look ahead," Jim, because they don't believe in education! They believe in money and slavery---the opposite of what you did with your life. And they can't even begin to admit it.

  • i would love to see the look on his parents faces when he was on acid singing about being on acid.

  • @douchecock427 LMAO - ESPECIALLY his old man!

  • @gf19711 i know haha

  • This is jim morrison before he tried acid.

  • RECIENTEMENTE LEI QUE ESTE FILM, ORIGINALMENTE SU DURACION ERA DE 15 O 16 MINUTOS. ESTA ES SOLO UNA PEQUEÑA MUESTRA RECORTADA. ¿ALGUIEN SABE DONDE SE PUEDE VER EL FILME COMPLETO?"

  • wouldnt this be on internet archives?

  • Jim would've been successful any way in life:

    A) Became the most iconic rock musician in history

    B) Would've probably been very successful at a job, 149 I.Q. he had.

    C) Was a great writer and poet.

  • One door closes, The Doors Open

  • It is hard to believe while watching this video clip, that just 5 or 6 years later he would be arrested for the supposed Miami incident. What a change in his appearence and demeanor. He is still the greatest, but under rated American poet and revolutionary.....

  • Jims acting sucked.

  • Florida State Uni.!!!Jim morrison is the best!

  • 1 Dislike??!! I will hurt somebody!!!!!!

  • This here is the clean cut all american studious Jim Morrison before he moved to LA and became involved with alcohol and drugs and became another cliche.

  • @MrSmokeydog no this was Morrison before he actually started thinking for himself and ceased to be a product of the system that wants you to live by their definition of " all american "

  • @3Hits4Felix wrong, Morrison already infused the unconventional ideas that shaped him in his early years while reading books, if you've read anything about him

  • Hey fellas how come YOU gots to register with selective service to get financial aid but all them equality embracing womans don't? Sounds like sexual discrimination to me, but lord knows your to much of a bunch of leave it to beaver mutha fukas to say shit!! Women can do anything a man can do, but your the only one they can draft? If you dont sign up no university HAHAHA the jokes on you generation quere!! Dont run with scissors, dont smoke, and allways wear a helmet ya pussys!!

  • love it

  • awesome!

  • i know one of the high school kids..

  • Jim sounds different

  • How about building more Universities and oh yeah...stop using "government guidelines" for what is taught in them. What a concept. Hire some Teachers through intelligence testing and demonstrating talent and ability. Let the teachers who have retired volunteer or take part time work. Lots of ideas if we use our own minds.

  • "unable to accept you application..." I guess he was thinking "I don't give a shit...I'm the Lizard King I can do anything "

  • reccaphoenix Poor Jim didn't get into college. He should just start a band or something :P April 13, 2010

  • What is even more unusual about this film is the few short years everybody went under such an intense transformation-change. Today, it is common when you see teenagers and young adults grow there hair long, etc., but, back then, when it all began, it was truly a SHOCK to the "older generation" . Great clip of history - of Jim Morrison before the change!

  • I. just. died.

This nerdy Jim Morrison owns me!.

  • WHY DOES ANYBODY HAVE TO PROVE THEY'RE WORTHY OF ANY U.S. UNIVERSITY?ALL OF US SHOULD BE EDUCATED FOR FREE. IT WOULD STOP THE CLASS WARS, RACISM,AND EQUAL RIGHTS BIGOTRY FOREVER!

  • @lumeriam THAT SOUNDS NICE,BUT THE SYSTEM WOULD OVERLOAD, AND UNABLE TO FUNCTION.AND, BTW.....HOW ROTTEN THIS MIGHT SOUND, THERE HAVE TO BE THOROUGHBREADS AND WORKHORSES, WHO ELSE IS GOING TO DO ALL THE SHITTY JOBS THAT MAKE YOUR LIFE SO COMFORTABLE...? NOT ALL THOSE MILLIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATED ,I GATHER....UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE DOCTORS WORKING IN THE SEWERS,LIKE IN THE FORMER SOVJET UNION.YOU KNOW HOW THAT STORY ENDED,THEY'RE STILL NOT ABLE TO RECOVER FROM THAT EXPERIMENT. DREAM ON,GIRL•

  • @PAULLONDEN So "natural selection" and "preferred" races or classes before others is your philosophy? There are ways to structure, organize, and share the great benefits of higher education with all people and it is time we did just that. It would solve our problems here in America, lead to greatly upgraded the infrastructure of third world countries, end world starvation, disease, and war.The first step is to care for the rest of the world and I see that you don't.

  • @lumeriam

I have compassion for my fellow beings, but unlike you,I've woken up to the fact that here on this earth there'll never be the Utopia that you crave for.Life on this earth will always be a struggle. it could be that this is inherent to life on this planet. "Natural selection" dictates, creatures get more intelligent when they have to struggle, once creatures get comfortable settled, they die out.

As you put "natural selection"in brackets, you're probably riligious inclined

  • @lumeriam ▬As you put "natural selection"in brackets, you're probably riligious inclined ,and will have problems with me,calling human beings "creatures".

Nothing wrong with striving for Utopia though.Peace.☼

  • @PAULLONDEN I didn't consider"natural selection" or "preferred" races and classes before others are allowed to participate.

  • @lumeriam The true first step in caring for the rest of the world is, to curtail 'the world', there are too many people in the world, fix that first and the rest is possible.

  • wow, what a trip. 7 years after he was filmed playing a bit part in a college promo film, he died a international rockstar. Life is crazy. RIP Jim.

  • WTF"" he had straight hair?????????? were are those amazing curves ???????? can anyone explain that???????

  • But will Theadore and Wally Cleaver concern themselves.

  • so was this all acting?

  • Ow! Oh la la..... You know.... for looking like a square.... He's still hot!

  • This is a great video. And really a piece of history. A testemony about how a man can evolve in a matter of years...

But this is not what I was looking for.

Does anyone know where I can find Jim's own film he made at UCLA?

  • a good boy ..

  • Thanks Doors and other bands for giving me great music. Its in my blood for now and always

  • I can't believe that this was the future Lizard King...it's so strange to watch this knowing what his future was going to be.

  • this commercial is liberal clap trap arguing for higher taxes....what a joke

  • jim became great and then crashed and died.........there are many who never become great and are just looooser scum trolls....many of which hang out on youtube......there's this one guy who is constantly posting about dudes emissions in his mouth, and promoteing edwards for president, the guy is full blown dumb ass liberal scum...his name is dawussy or dacritic or something, who knows who cares....he favorited this video...if you're into lame dudes, he's looking for friends

  • at 18 he was a protected son of an admiral, living with his grandparents and taking classes at a community college. At 19 he went to a real college, also when he was first arrested. At 20 he moved out to UCLA, and began to finally lose connection with his parents, also meeting a man named Ray Manzarek. By 22, he got the guts to sing and by 23 he had finnally "broken on through to the other side" Wow how much a life can change in 5 years

  • To think that kid became the single greatest symbol of rebellion and excess ever known in rock music. Long live the Lizard King!

  • ahh the good ole days....

  • Pahaha this is so un-Jim Morrison.

  • Newsflash....a few years later it would be realized that NO UNIVERSITY would be able to meet his ambitions!

  • most diplomas are worthless nowadays...

  • Poor Jim didn't get into college. He should just start a band or something :P

  • 1:04 it's him for shure....

I didn't know about this, but now I see a connection with his future interest in cinema at ucla...

  • why not believe it. i live in florida and the video shows a very realistic situation that has happened to a lot of people i know. Morrison was about awakening people to the truth and telling people not to get screwed by the government, which is who runs and funds state schools (like the one the video mentions).

  • @johndawson420 Yup, that was his character from what I can deduct of articles, interviews,& live performances. There is one interview in particular (w/ Lizzie James - the one that has him photo'd w/ the lab dog) he expresses ideas of being independant/self reliant etc..freedom is your responsibility etc.. - very insightful.

  • @hazor777 Also, Morrison had a reputation for never being "money conscious" , he was a true artist. He didn't do it for the money. I think the guy was pure genious......just self destructive.......oh and he was at the infamous age of 27 ( three "9's") - a very unlucky age in Rock n Roll (Janis, Jimi,Cobain,Brian Jones,Pigpen,RJohnson)

  • haha he got arrested a little before that

  • they must have paid him a lot of cash do that

  • I cannot belive it...

  • The guy in the glasses has no idea what the kid he's talking to will become in just a matter of a few years....

  • @Wonka275 Become? Jim was born, and died, a legend. You can't learn/teach the genius he came out with... :')

  • @Wonka275 "Looking ahead... planning ahead..."

Jim was about to take a shit on his head.

  • i love this film shows a real young jim morrison still handsome.

  • This is Morrison before he got possessed by demons.

  • Jim Leave it to Beaver Morrison....LMFAO

  • @chinwutai lol !

  • @chinwutai i know thats what he reminded me of in this video! lol but hes wayy sexier than that!

  • Fuck it, i will go to UCLA instead!

  • Morrison had an iQ of about 150 but it didnt appear that way cuz of drugs. Then again, some of his songs couldnt have been thought of without the help of drugs

  • Jim knew well, what he was doin here!

    Rock on Jimmy!

The Irish are with you,... alway's.

  • "Aw, hell, I might as well go to film school out at UCLA!"

  • At that point, I would've given the school administrator some acid.

  • I am the Lizard King, I can do anything.

  • Exactly

  • That's hysterical, to hear Jim Morrison's voice coming out of this 50s-style high school kid. I want him to say "That's okay. I'll just go to film school instead and grow out my hair and become one of the most famous lead singers in rock history."

  • This is amazing. Of course at some point in 1964, he visits his father, George Morrison, who was in command of the ship that was at the Gulf of Tonkin. Interesting. Was Jim working for the government?

  • I'm halfway expecting him to yell at the admissions guy "YOU'RE ALL A BUNCH OF FUCKING IDIOTS!"

  • and how come this young guy come to that what we know jim morrison from the doors?question to ask!

  • little questioning mind, bit of occult books, drugs, friends from oto, thelima church and other occult denomination, biography of alexander the greatas well as many insignificant stupid women screaming mad among the other druggies.

Do remember though, on his grave stone, he may have refuted what made him that way, as he wrote, ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΑΥΤΟΥ, AGAINST THE INNER DEMON.

    Who knows?

  • rebellion against the mind!if all the people make zihs way, they gona be ghost on the earth!and what he say:die young, you gona be a nice skelet!that is not the way to live!just my oppinion!

  • Well I am not for against what he did, I am for or against nothing. Just giving a few headlines of what happened in between the Jimmy soft boy, and the Lizard Jim. My later part of the comment did not mean he said, rebel against the inner demon. I thing, in the end all he dreamed of, was not to have led a so fast and fucked up life, and thus it was his inner demon that rebelled against everything, and maybe regrets. When and where he was, left little else choice for him. Its all complicated

  • yes,is complicated!and beter to know nothing, neither know all and all is the lays

  • LSD and film school. I believe his singing voice came from Ray Manzarek, who taught him to sing. (Thats why Ray sounds somewhat similar when he sings)

  • why do you write like Yoda speaks?

  • i am from croatia, and this is the only way that i can explain something with my knowledge of english!

  • just think, if he DID go to that college, we'd never know who the hell this guy is, ROFL

  • Actually Morrison DID go to FSU for 2 years before transferring to UCLA

  • Whooo. Its gettin hot in here. Jim is so hotttttt!

  • His birthday is coming up in a few days. Btw, that quote you have on your page is one of my favs of his. :)

  • "Okay then, I won't go to your college, I'll go to UCLA, meet a spectacled keyboardist, form a band, and die in less than ten years."

  • hahahahaha

  • way out man just like an f35 gettin chsaed by vandal in dalian plant

  • .. The true success of his literary career can be measured against the fact that his poems (lyrics) have been-and continue to be-recited by millions of fans around the world.

As a band, The Doors are one of the most popular and renowned all times. Personal tribulations aside, I admire Jim for standing up against "pundits" who questioned his abilities both as a writer and a singer. Time has showned them wrong and Jim right.

  • funny because, i went to the rock and roll hall of fame in ohio and they displayed his report card and he got c's and d's in english as a kid haha

  • A recurring theme underlying much of Jim Morrison's life was that of overcoming adversity and doubt. His literally skills were questioned by many, and in fact during a period of his life he had all but given up on the notion of being a poet. Mary Werbelow (his Florida girlfriend) as well as his family doubted his vocal skills as well the future prospects of his band.

Though he was never awarded any formal literally recognition for his work.....

  • Thats what I think me self!

  • He was an ole southern boy. I think he didnt believe to much in all that liberal bullshit!

  • morrison was already leaning into film, thats why hes in this. you've got to give him this, he had the balls to chase his vision. going from st pete jr college to fsu then unto ucla film school w/ the likes of copolla. if you really watch this close, u can already see him piecing together future moves.. ck his pose at the mailbox, the dean, j wayne stance wh/ would later be seen w/ the mike on stage & then the intellegent discourse wh/ he would use in later interviews. visionary dude, sad loss.

  • Is that really Morrisons voice at th time, do you think?

  • Yes and no. The voice you hear when he's opening up the mail at the mailbox is an overdub of someone else's voice.

But when he's sitting in the room with the other guy, it IS his real voice, no overdub or anything.

  • Yeeah... thats what i had thought. Thanks man.

  • I like how the "study" he gives Jim is a picture.

  • Beware Florida parents-- one day Florida State may not have room for your child and he'll end up becoming some rich drug addled rock star who has sex ten times a day! Beware! When Florida State asks for contributions--don't be a cheapskate!

  • wow what foresight...who da thunk it...but UCLA is way better anyway...

  • "The Lizard King".

  • Yep, the one and only! :)

  • actually i think at this point in time he's just the Lizard Prince... on his way to the throne -.-
