I remember hearing this song in 1969 while in Marines. Thinking of home and the girl back there. Many years and several girls later, I still love this song. It epitomizes the way I felt back then and even today. He drew a line in the sand with this song. Rolling Stones had this song out too, but not near as good as Johnny's. I totally live this song.

Next to Arthur, I think this is the better version of the covers I've heard, (ie: Stones, Dean Martin, Mark Knofler, Ringo, etc)
