i love Yinka's art but for me i just don't like it when artists go into film or animation unless its something so shocking and stomach churning that it gets a point out there to make people listen. but when its just people dancing i dont get it. but its art. and its something that needs to be done and by people who are good at it. and this guy is definitely good at it and he has inspired me deeply with some of his pieces and views.
he doesn't talk too much... shonibare's work is an attempt on his part to critique, analyze, and create a dialogue around the issues he regards as so important. it's not as if we as viewers will instantly understand what he is trying to say... so he feels it is necessary for him to explain his ideas to us so that we can not only build our own opinions of his work, but also create those essential dialogues not only about his art but also those issues that he considers so serious and significant.
your dads works shit and he talks way too much! He's just a Chris Ofili wannabe! Chris Ofili's works amazing but your dad's is just really stale. The more he talks the worse his work gets! LOL
Fair enough, i agree he does talk too much but enough people like his work to buy it which is good for me ^_^ Chris Ofili's work isn't really anything like my dads but whatever. Its kool that he used elephant poo tho anywho enough talk about art i need to go do my course work @_@ (peace out random person who called my dad shit)
Im completing an essay about Yinka Shonibare, I have to have the understanding about Post colonilisation, as well as identity. 'I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE WORKS IN REAL LIFE'.
brillant ARTIST of many levels! MANY in the arts of domestic living and aesthetic purposes must pay attention to what this creator is creating!
