  • Most beautiful yet depressing song... made me cry first time I watched the movie.

  • I love theses older movies when there was no special effects and they were real actors.

  • Way too many trees to be power real estate property.

  • Bronson was a great actor i am only 32 yo and watched him with my grandad as a kid and i still to this day enjoy his films and it takes me back to when i used to watch them with grandad. I miss you both grandad and Mr. bronson RIP

  • Brons at his best..even if he didnt say a word in this movie. just the way he carried himself, couldnt takre your eyes off a him..R.I.P. MR BRONSON

  • Bronson 5 éves koromtól a kedvencem,és mikor meghalok akkor is ő lesz.

  • I wonder how those kids @1:32 must be now :)

  • Too late now because they're gone but a good way to gauge the quality of this movie is watching it with people who lived through the Great Depression and noting their reactions. Every time Bronson lands it's a smack back at the system.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the guitar tune played in the movie?

  • @pyrofella

The song is "Dirty Old Town" written by Ewan MacColl in 1949, which is way after this movie's setting. To my knowledge there never was a soundtrack to this movie. I guess because there is so little music in the movie. I have searched high and low for this "cajun" version of the song , but to no avail. I seem to remember the song was performed by Ry Cooder for the movie, but haven't been able find it through his recordings either. This is the best version I have ever heard.

  • @eb311235

I would say it is more likely that it is, the old Gospel song

'I am a Pilgrim' , a lot of Guitar and mouthorgan versions are about (think Dirty Old Town used the same Tune), but I can't find what version this is either

  • @Ayeyuya

    check out

'I am a Pilgrim' by Soldiers Joy

    on youtube loaded by

    clampittandgaddis

  • i dont get it....no music at all?

  • Bronson was 53

  • Did they have diesel locomotives in the 1930's? I thought it was all steam back then.

  • the only thing I didn't like about this movie was the last guy Bronson fought didn't look impressive to me. Now the bald-headed guy... sheesh. He was an animal!

  • @Arcaneshadows I agree! Bronson was wailing on the Bob Tessier charactor and he just kept smiling at him as if he enjoyed the pain.

  • @Arcaneshadows His name is Robert Tessier - he died of cancer a few years back - always played a tough guy - for obvious reasons - this is a pretty good movie

  • @Arcaneshadows: The last guy put me in mind of "Gentleman Jim" Corbett, see Wikipedia. I wouldn't have fought the guy for love or money. Tall, long arms to generate a lot of torque and leverage, used every inch of the "ring" to maneuver and fast. Would you fight him? I know you are referring to character and casting, and you have a point, but Corbett and James J. Braddock were a couple of Irishmen who were tougher than a $2.00 steak and didn't look the part. You're right, great movie!

  • released in Australia as "The Streetfighter"

  • this has a sad intro but i like the movie reall hard and also this soundtrack cant be found anywhere so you will have to record it via the computer

  • I love the music. I wish I could get the authentic track.

  • @fcweddington hey i have it you cant download it anywhere you will have to record it

  • I love how he always obtained a part for his Wife, Jill Ireland in these. They were very much in love and he was devestated when she died. Proably the best, low-key action actors there ever was.

  • lol the song at beginning is dirty old town irish volks i love this song

  • One of my favorite bronson movies. One of the only ones he made where no one got killed. lol

  • A great one. Oscar worthy performance by Bronson.

  • @jd51452 ,Amen to that brother!

  • @jd51452

    Yeah, definitly!!

  • he sure was somethin

  • "Let's go get the cat"

  • He still is

  • Bronson was 54 years old in this movie. Pretty good shape, uh?

  • Yup, I have to agree..!

  • Also watch CHATO´S LAND !!

Bronson would have knocked out Sly Stallone and Arnold S. one after the other within a few minutes and then wiped the floor with ´em. :-)))

And he was 50 when this one was made ... !!!!

    Man, why can´t I ...

  • @wmjahn 53

  • Yeah !! Awesome !!!!

I would like to look like him just a little bit, haha! I am not yet 53, but ...

  • @josbo28 True...Tha's one real body :) .... It stays with u no matter how old you are...

  • When people today complain about tensions i just wonder what the people born during 1920's-30's must have gone through...Childhood in great depression then the great war....Must salute those people. Most of our problems will be Sunday picnic for them

  • love the film, have it on dvd. charles bronson is in my top 3 actors of all time. nice air horns on the train also!

  • Unfortunately, the soundtrack isn't available. They don't even list the name of this or any song in the movie credits. That's a shame. I love this song.

  • Dirty odltown is the name of the song

  • Charles Bronson makes Chuck Norris seem like a retired-Navy medic who takes great pleasure in operating a private ballet school in San Francisco's Castro District.

  • whso the song done by?

  • Marty' u know what we got here'?! motherfukin' Charly Bronzon!!!!!

  • Sit yo'self down and have an egg roll boy

  • I have been longing for years to see this cipiing . thank you so much

    Suresh

  • Was searching for this title track for ages. Thanx.

  • Best movie intro ever! Great music and atmosphere!

  • Thank you for putting the hard Times Intro video on YouTube. Is the music in the intro the same as the ending? If it is different, could you put the ending of this great movie on also? Thanks Dave in New York

  • Guys,

The soundtrack was composed by Barry De Vorzon - he has worked on a number of movies like "The Warriors" and some TV series.

    He's listed on IMDB.

  • hey man, i am from germany and i remember hard times as one of the first movies my pa recorded on tape on his new vcr. he had seen it in the cinema at the 70s. still one the movies i like the most. tried to get the soundtrack but it didnt worked out. walter hill is a genius, or was one maybe. if you know were i can get the soundtrack so please tell me...thank you anyway, ahh the good ol`days

  • does the hard times theme have a title?

  • Hard Times Come Again No More

    Written by Stephen Foster

  • are you certain? because it says in the credits that Barry De Vorzon composed the music scores for the movie

  • @j8dy

Walter Hill wrote the screen play for this film. Hill wrote, directed and produced some of the greatest action/adventue films of the 70's and 80's. He also worked with Devorzon on other projects too.

  • This is one GREAT flick.

  • Yeah, this one is underrated, one of Bronson's best.

  • Can only ditto, one of his best!

  • Whats the pink floyd song that is playing?

  • no bro lol! your thinking of i wish you were here by floyd? right? it sounds simular but its different! i looked this up because i like the intro song! and its a good movie! so why did you look it up?? i love bronson man! did ya look it up for the intro song??

  • @peffster518 So I'm not the only one that noticed the resemblance :)
