@KATOMATE01 - The most important job for a glider pilot is to keep looking OUT from the cockpit, watching for other traffic. Flying a glider is strictly VFR, so it's no good keeping your eyes fixed on a gauge. That's why we use audio. Any VFR pilot will tell you that.
wow that would be so annoying while trying to enjoy the peaceful flight....i hope you can turn that off!!! Also, I would turn that on with a new flyer in my backseat and be like OMF WTF DOES THAT MEAN!! it sounds like an alarm, something no one wants to hear while 1500 meters in the air.
@roguehawk07 or you can just look at your gages and not have to listen the annoying noises while trying to enjoy the flight....some of you kids wouldn't be able to survive in the old days...no fancy electronics or gps, just simple instruments, your eyes, and your natural skill.
@KATOMATE01 Looking at your gauges doesn't increase the safety of flying by a whole lot. I agree on that with omglpwnhard. The beeping sound just makes sure that you can keep looking outside, while getting rough information about where the thermal is stronger. Your eyes and natural skill are still very much part of the equation, most electronics are only used to increase safety and keep flying pleasant for all of us.
That's my dad :D
