Another Valentines day has gone by and I still haven't found that one person who changes everything, that one person who I'll give just one rose because she means everything to me
I think the entire song is about a girl trying to turn a cold, smooth, immovable guy (a stone) into a good guy. It's basically an analogy for girls liking assholes and trying to make a gem out of a rock. My take, anyway.
i think I know the bitter dismay of a lover who brought fresh bouquets every day, when she turned him away to remember some knave who once brought just. one. rose. (years ago...)
i heard this song for the first time at camp. and this is the first time i have heard the original version because it was a counselor who had sung it. but i still get the same goose bumps every time.<3

i believe
that if stones could dream
they'd dream of being laid side-by-side (piece-by-piece)
and turned into a castle for some towering queen they're unable to know.
and when that queen's daughter came of age
i think she'd be lovely and stubborn and brave. suitors would journey from kingdoms away just to make themselves known.

This is one of the most depressingly beautiful albums I've ever heard.

after listening to this song i have finally come to grasps with what had been the leading problem in my life: the opposite sex.

man, I feel you on that. Falling in love is the best and sometimes the worst thing that can happen to a man.
