to me this song is about how the really hard questions like "what should i do" don't seem to yield to rational inquiry. the deeper you go with analysis, the less you get
sometimes? existential angst? he doesn't know what he should be doing
so he's just playing a part?
to some it might be depressing, but it seems like he's putting
something that's really deep inside of him out there, and I think
The song seems to follow a pattern of Thom's. He's singing about the idea that there's no higher meaning to life.
I find this pretty interesting (if I'm even right), Thom sings "you're just playing a part, but there's no time to analyse". It seems to me that maybe he's supposed to be softening the blow of this revelation by pretending we're just playing a part in something greater...there's just not time to analyse our role or the great machine.
Maybe he just didnt feel like a guitar would capture the essence of the song. Instead of dising him or his choice of instrument, listen and respect the music and artist. -_-
He looks out to the audience because someone is talking and laughing and he stares at that person until they notice, thats why the intro to the song is longer than normal
Thom Yorke is such an amazing artist. Especially when he is really passionate about something, and his voice is amazing. I also love the fact that he has been spreading the word about Climate Change for such a long timem, and is actually doing something about it.
Applaud and go back to your drinks... That view through the wine glass was unintentionally brilliant. Indeed thinking about society's biggest nemesis, global warming, really "gets them down". They're just "playing their part" with "no time to analyse, to make sense", "sleeping like babies through power cuts". If I had been at that awards ceremony, I'd have just stood still after had stopped singing, not even able to look into his eyes. Thank god they didn't ask for an encore...
"computer crap" is not an opinion, it's an insult to the artist. perhaps you're just not a fan of electronic music in general? but then you shouldn't criticize what you do not understand. it's like saying ballet is crap just cause you don't "get" it.
Chill, damn people get offended so easy on the internet, saying "just my opinion" i am talking about that i think that this is better then the studio version.

i agree the original isn't nearly as good. radiohead's music is getting too fast and electronic-y as "in rainbows" shows, ruining songs like "nude" for no good reason. there's nothing wrong with a goddamn guitar.
Even Kid A is guitar-laden. They're not anti-guitar. They simply don't like repeating themselves, and that's, primarily, exactly why they're such an amazing band.
"He looks out to the audience because someone is talking and laughing and he stares at that person until they notice, thats why the intro to the song is longer than normal"
live he has a habit of getting lazy and sounds really off key ortone or something and sounds really nasal (street spirit at the reservoir 2003). but this video isnt like that, hes trying here its perfect
I think so, and apparently when they first started Johnny was just a wana-be, so they let him in just to do chords ect, then they realised how good he was. Or something like that. Radiohead have changed so much from when they first started, and i love it!
All of them (exept Jonny) are university graduates. Jonny was in a University too, but he had to quit, because the band signed a record deal. Thom majored in Art and Literature, not sure about the rest. Also, you are right, they took Jonny in basically out of pity, just cause he was Colin's little bro and wanted to be in a band. He played harmonica and keys sometimes. Who could have known back then how important he would become for this band, eh?
Oh, forgot to add...Jonny is the only member of Radiohead to have been classically trained on any instrument...he took viola lessons as a child. Pretty sure he's the one who writes all the string orchestrations and jazz sections for Radiohead. Using Ondes Martenot was also his idea.
it would be soo amazing if he re did the eraser all acoustically with just a piano and a guitar. just as an alternative. would be fab that wway as well as the original. that is a masterpeice.
