Steve was hella cool when I interned in the office at Loud/SRC back in the 90's but you can't forget about Rich. I was there when Xzibit came up with Paparazzi. I remember the instrumental to the finished product and I appreciate getting to see how the music comes together. I learned alot. Bigga B,Noa, Tommy, Tasha and That dumb Beyatch Terry(I must of did Ur job better than u huh got Ur job lazy arse) I learned loads!
Steve ive got a real money maker here for you. 10 year seasoned underground MC with a great flow and crazy direction. IF YOU DARE TO TAKE A GAMBLE YOU WILL MAKE MORE MONEY WITH MY IDEA THAN ANY MC YOU CURRENTLY GOT. For real.
@louismccall lmao r u kidding me? i know more than u. Interscope Island Def Jam Altantic. Cohen Ivone Reid those are top music exec. just cause u discovered akon dont make u top of all time gtfoh
@MusicalAgenda@MusicalAgenda I will not embarrass you by posting the RIAA plaque's with my name on them, as it would only make you look even more ridiculous. I will say this is like saying Steve Job's isn't a top CEO in the computer field because Mac has 6% of a market dominated by Microsoft. Remember, contributions to a industry create your name, not what hot company you run right now. Jimmy has done great things with Interscope, but among many other things, Akon>Lady Gaga's rebirth & T-Pain.
@louismccall those are your pop's plaques. lol but seriously I agree. Steve Rifkind has been one of the Top Execs for over 15 years! He's single-handedly responsible for 60% of the LEGENDS of HIP HOP! Not only is he responsible for Akon & T-Pain, When he had LOUD records he was the guy who put out Big Pun, Wu Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Dead Prez, David Banner, among others! Hell he even helped put Pete Rock and 9th Wonder on the map. This other guy needs to re-evaluate his music knowledge. 4 real
@louismccall lol look it really doesnt matter what u say ur still wrong i could give a shit about ur plaques end of the day i really dont care about ur reply whateva homie peace
@MusicalAgenda Oh okay, I understand now. You are one of those mediatakeout/worldstarhiphop/allhiphop readers who just like to say things that do not always make sense, like argue over the details of contracts you have never seen, or measure someone's clout merely from opinion or MTv Cribs. Once again, Jimmy is great, but that doesn't erase others contributions just because you know nothing about the industry. Plagues matter, internet comments do not. Did you vote in the Primaries?
@louismccall JIMMMMYY IVVVV..nah am playin. Listen I know Steve is good exec. hell anybody that stuck with Akon after those sales is a fuckin genius. but i would have rather seen someone like jimmy or a ron fair. steve is cool tho. except Reid. hes an idiot. shyne for a million smh
@MusicalAgenda Jimmy is good, but he gets play because he is at the head of interscope. Nobody made more cash than Master P., off of a benchmark deal that nobody has even been able to get again, but he get's no respect either. Some of these people are to be expected, many others are the ones these fools online don't know about. Reid, dropped T.I. after a dope album with bad timing promo, not to mention his fumble with pink... you are right about him.
@louismccall really LA dropped TI? wow i neva know that. I mean Reid is iight I just believe that someone else could take over and be totally more successful than LA. I mean did u know he signed jennifer lopez? really? jennifer lopez? ehh. i dont know what LA is doin. everyone on that label right know that making moves is ppl Jay signed like Kanye rihanna rick ross. and even with ross their defintyl losing more money and their gaining. with him. all that publicity and his sales dont match up.
@MusicalAgenda Some people sign as fixtures on your label if you take a loss, they build such an aura that it attracts others, like Prince, or even and Eminem. But all of these labels are bleeding right now, people have to remember before the inventions of vinyl, music was free you only sold shows... now digitization ruined the tangible format on which you made money, you were selling plastic not music. Today, people need to get the tour game together, that's the only money left. 360 deals.
@MusicalAgenda Soon, people will understand once again that the musician ultimately holds the chips. Tour and show money only get's split between you, your management, and sometimes the IRS. Record sales aside, even 3K a night at 5 shows a week is good money, not to mention the once getting 50k to 100k a show, who are missing tour dates and worrying about record sales. We have been fortunate in the biz, but I hat to say too many "urban" divisions are always behind the curve, after the fact.
@MusicalAgenda Back then we were contracted to handle promotion for Mya, King-T, Black Eye Peas, and Enimen... Not to mention the Bulworth Soundtract which went platinum, rare for sound tracks of urban movies since they are just throwaway albums. Obviously 4 of the 5 did very well and 2 went on to major success. jimmy always gave you whatever you needed, no questions asked if he believed in your ability. Great guy, that roster put him and Interscope on the map. Rare actions for a major label.
@MusicalAgenda One other thing, as someone who has had the opportunity to work with Jimmy once before, I am the first to say he is the last great artist developer, but give respect where it's due. I know you don't like to deal with people who actually know stuff, but take that into consideration. I bet you think the same about Rick Ruben too huh? Do his post Def-Jam years matter?
@louismccall Rick Rubin? RICK RUBIN IS LEGENDARY!!! of course it matters. rick rubin is like a god of the industry. am trying to Internship at some record labels. def jam the house rick rubin started of course. anything under that UMG umbrella am tryin to get an internships at.
@MusicalAgenda Am gonna let you in a little fact. A guy name Ted Field founded Interscope records back in 1989. He hired Jimmy Iovine based on his expertise and gave him a 20 percent share of the company. Ted deserves the real props .For he was the one who signed 2pac
