  • this song reminds me of my dad...

  • I have really been starting to get into Kelly. She is amazing! I love her!

  • Smallville didn't bring me here, Kelly Clarkson did.

  • i hear this song and i see lana in china. i hear this song and i see lex walk down a hall into a jail cell. The song itself gives one hope for a better future. encourages one to strive for a better version of oneself.

  • oh my God! <3

  • I see im not the only one watching Smallville from the start again :)

  • @Matrec4414 where does this come smallville?

  • Thanks to smallville :). My favorite song

  • I love Kelly Clarkson. She's helped me get through so much.

  • This song I think is the follow on from Addicted, about the fallout from codependency with anything from a bad relationship, substance abuse, anything. Its about recovering yourself, healing. It doesn't matter what she was 'addicted' to, the power that this song has- that we have power w/o those things- has gotten me through sleepless nights and bad times. Simply brilliant <3

  • Her voice can so easily channel pop, rock, R&B... I'm glad the world has her voice, and that she didn't hide her gift or let it go to waste.

  • who said she's fat?

  • Youtube the video of her singing this song Live at the Troubador (spelling may be wrong, I'm sorry). It is AMAZING live. It is gut-wrenching, inspiring, and entirely real. Kelly Clarkson continually amazes me.

  • @jennij9 saw it last night, it is brilliant performance, i wish i could see her live in concert

  • she looks so beautiful as a blonde!

  • @BettyHeartsBeauty your heart can talk?

  • my heart brought me here ♥

  • lol i know 2 songs that are named sober now one by p!nk and one is kelly clarkson

  • Kelly's voice during this song gives me chills. Its pure perfection.

  • Kelly Clakson brought me here ...

  • Still love this song after 4 years. It's just brilliant, and yes, she writes beautifully.

  • I really understand this because my mom is a recovering alcoholic. Everyday is a fight to stay sober. March will be one year. I am proud of you mommy. Stay sober we love you.

  • @HoplessRomantic903 I think your love for your mom is awesome. Take another listen though& i think U may realize it is about surviving a past relationship. I recognize that though we sometimes may misinterpret songs from the artist meaning, this song touched U when U needed it. God bless U&your mom.

  • Some of her best lyrics ever! :D

  • this song help me from my relationship i was in, i swear everything this song explains everything i dealt with last year and this year. i get teary eyes just to listen it from walking away from that one person stay sober<3

  • This gives me chills every single time I listen to it.

  • i can't get over this song! It's sort of hypnotic! I love you Kelly! :))

  • Each time i see the song, i feel so emotion. Don't know why?

  • <3 this song..gave me the chills...

  • love this song. reminds me of a certain someone. this song carried me through alot

  • this is amazing and she sang amazingly at the troubadour

  • LOVE THIS SONG! Soo glad I found it again :)

  • Heard this song was shit.

    Turns out it's not.

    I don't have a problem with this. Bookmark'd.

  • Amazing.

  • this song its not only about love or an addiction. like a relationship and alcohol. i was bulimic and anorexic, this song makes me cry and remember that i can be strong and its been, yeah, three months since im clean. BEST SONG EVER.

  • The song is about love. It's about being addicted to a person, and once they leave you don't know if you're gunna make it. But it's been 3 month and she still IS. She's searching for herself with this new found autonomy and clarity

  • 99 people got drunk and accidentally pressed dislike

  • it took it as a heart ache song and i related to it with my dad's death. it's funny how many different views there can be on the same song

  • every time a see a photo of her she looks different, she's blonde, she's brunette, she's country, she's rock, she's plain Jane, she's glam, she's chubby, she's slim, etc, etc.

  • She is beautiful

  • I got into drug abuse when i was 17 cause of alot of the stress I was going under and had been addicted to abusing prescription pills and no one really new it and it lasted for about 5 or 6 months on and off and then i tryed to stop and now i have been clean for 4 months .

  • I'm addicted to cutting, Alchohal, and weed. This song only wants to make me cut.. .___. </3

  • @Teenpolkadots i cut too, but maybe you should use this song as inspiration not to?If you want company, I'll try too...

  • Kara flies off for the Tower, and zooms in, Cue end,.

  • Smallville brought me here

  • @EQuaresma77 i just watched that episode!

  • This song isn’t just words for an addiction. It highly represents a relationship. It has two meanings. I really believe that she uses the metaphor of ‘Sober’ to describe the feeling of her break up/ heart ache. Awesome song she is so talented!

  • @simpicrushy

I agree. Sober to me is less about alcohol or drugs, and more about how when you're in so much pain emotionally, you almost shut down, or want to. In a way heartbreak is like withdrawal from an addiction, the addiction being love.

  • I was expecting a Tool cover.

  • @redmunkee Hahaha, me too.

  • i am a addicted to drink, but taking naltrecson, but this song make me want to drink again, bloody despressing,

  • Today marks 1 year without porn, an addiction which has caused me so much grief in the past. Listening to this song brings back all the memories of hardships, doubts, and feeling like giving up - but persevering and striving towards the light at the end of the tunnel regardless. Thank you Kelly for this inspiring song, and thank you Jesus for being with me every step of the way

  • @BluMess That is awesome!!! I struggle with it too im 39 days sober it's hard I've been an addict for 6 yrs and I've failed many times but I'm never going to give up! and this is an amazing song!... Praise God!

  • What is wrong with this version? The other version is SO SO SO MUCH BETTER!

  • @nikarro what other version?

  • 3:05 <3

  • Kelly Clarkson is my idol.

  • 2day was my school's talent show night, I performed Breakaway. Its ironic though, because even though i hit all the notes, my voice was shaky throughout the whole song 'cause I was so nervous, thus I never rlly broke free while singing. This is the 1st time I performed a solo and as soon as I fin singing and went backstage, I burst into tears.

Now I sit at home, back from the talent show feeling like crap because I feel like I stuffed up my performance..Listening to this makes me feel better

  • @MrEmaliowany Guess what? I'm not posting it. And I hope it's true. I hope I die. Thanks, buddy.

  • The first time i heard kelly it was a hot summers day, when this song had finished i was looking for my jacket. god shes amazing. i hope that someday you get to where you deserve to be kelly, right at the top :)

  • she has such an amazing voice;D.................i know everybody says that about a lot of stars but i really think she has a fricken awsome voice she kan do high notes way better than....................miley cyrus (no disrespect tew miley) im just saying and i know ppl have ben talking bout hur wieght over these past years but i really dont care how much she weighs i'm always gunna love hur and hur voice,chubby,skinny...........idgaf!!!!! i fucking love this gurl she is amazing<3

  • @amberray11 She is absolutely amazing. She sings like a professional at such a young age. She is sooo versatile. Her range is amazing. And I love her no matter what she looks like. A body is a shell. It's her soul that I love. She could be bald, fat, covered with scars, and I would still love her. People who judge others based on appearance are superficial. And that's such a shame. But that's what American society does. God, I wish it would end. There would be a lot more happy people.

  • why has it been 4 years and this is the first time i've heard this song? its so good :)

  • @mspraning lol it is in an episode of smallvilee

  • im shocked that critics panned this album. it's so emotional, raw, and authentic. how can people choose generic dance-beat, autotune pop songs over this? :O

  • @alexpiccirillo1 probably because back then it's all that was acceptable/was hip...nowadays music like this (with meaning etc) is slowly starting to make a return...and thank god. I feel if she'dve released this now, it would be more popular

  • @alexpiccirillo1 kelly clarkson is NOT auto-tuned. just an fyi...

  • @MissCaliforniaLove1 what the fuck are u talking about? if you knew how to read, u would see clearly that in my comment i acknowledged that kelly clarkson doesnt use autotune. so why are u telling me this? are u retarded?

  • @alexpiccirillo1

duh.. shes miss calafornia! all you have to do to get that honor is stand there and look pretty

  • @MissCaliforniaLove1 yeah the only autotune she ever used was in "wash rinse repeat" and that was to make a statement. no one ever said that she did use autotune.

  • @MissCaliforniaLove1 hell no! never!!!!!

  • @alexpiccirillo1 agreed. our society is incredibly stupid. people flock to what sounds good, regardless of the meaning or depth of the songs. my december will probably be kellys best album, because it came from a real place. it wasn't just a bunch of song writers trying to cater songs to a bunch of teenagers. and thus it wasn't the best in critics eyes, but to people who can appreciate real music, and what it's about - the entire album was a masterpiece.

  • Hey.

    I;m Fayme . 14 yrs old.

I'll be uploading some music covers soon.

Please support me and subscribe (So that u'll know when i upload it)

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • I love this song with all my heart, I just start crying every time I listen to it.

Kelly, this is a master-piece, actually all of your music are.

I remember when you played here in Denmark back in 2008, and while you where on stage singing this song we got eye-contact, and since I met you just an hour earlier, you remembered me and waved and smiled at me. Those 5 seconds where you looked at me, was absolutely the best moment in my whole life, and I'll never forget that day for sure!

  • I miss you, and all those memories back then... Don't know how to confront it.... don't know how to spit it out and move on.

  • I love this song, how you can picture yourself in a sad, romantic story, our life is basically a story made by us. :)

  • I stopped drinking after my best friend died when he wrapped his truck around a tree.

I have had one drink since then, when I was contemplating leaving my husband because I was still in love with said best friend, two years after he died.

My husband and I are still together, and I have been clean and sober for 6 months.

  • this song has so much meaning to me. I listen to it when I had not self injured for 3 months and now over a year since I stopped this song still gives me hope that I'll be fine.

  • I absolutely love love love love this song.....

  • I love this song because there's more than one way to interpret "sober". It can mean a return to relying on one's natural and healthy instincts, no longer bending to the power of dangerous outside forces (alcohol, drugs, peer pressure, abusive relationships, high risk sex, manipulative people, etc.)or dangerous inside forces (low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, fear, hate, etc.)

  • in the beginning, i keep forgetting im listening to this song, and i expect owl city to say, 'Where was i, when the rockets came to life, and carried you away, into the alligator sky' ._. the beginnings sound so similar!

  • I'm sure alot of pepole don't know what sober means. But they still listen to this song and the other one by p!nk

  • I remember when i first heard this song a loong time ago ... i'd been sober only a few months and it really helped me get through those dark days ... i'm back on that line struggling and all after all the shit that i been going through this song popped in my head and here i am listening to it bringing back all these memories . its hard .

  • Ok, maybe after three months will be better, but how the hell get thru this three months?????????

  • I first head this song a few days after you posted this video. My mom was three months sober and wasnt sure if this was what she wanted. Now she's going to have 4 years in September and she's taking care of me now instead of the other way around.

  • @mspraning i just saw that episode 7x01 tonight!!!

  • @mspraning .its frum season 7;D

  • @mspraning it shouldve been on smallville

  • @mspraning Yes it does. It played at the end of season seven's first episode, when we see Supergirl flying towards the screen. I simply love this song it always takes me back to that scene.

  • She is Very Beautifull and I love this Song <;)

  • The first time i listened to this song i cried!

  • @Breyers333 Didn't we all?

  • @Breyers333

the first time i read your comment i laughed

  • I found out about this song from the episode in smallville where kara flies off the roof at the end thumbs up who know what im talking about XD

  • Śliczna jest ta piosenka! ;)

  • ce trista e melodia asta pt mn, dar o iubesc.

  • This song is awesome. When I was heart broken I heard this song. It was exactly 3 months after my heart was broken. I love the part where she says 3 months and "I'm still standing". All I had been through in 3months and I was okay I picked up the flowers didn't date for a whole year and was content. Now in agreat relationship and as if my heart was never broken. It gets better.

  • I absolutely love this song... I love every Kelly Song, but I really love this song.... Cannot wait for the next CD!

  • 4 Years later and this song still touches my heart

  • i feel this like this song is my life right now

  • I was trying to end a toxic relationship but I just kept going back. And so I used this song as my inspiration. I thought that if for 3 months I could avoid that person then I would be okay. Kinda like my own personal rehab. After 3 months, I just felt better and stronger

  • i know the song talks explicitly about alcoholism, but i like to look at it metaforically, applying it to my eating disorder...it had gotten pretty bad but i bounced back and everytime i listen to this song it helps me remember how far i've come :)

  • @DyingCupcake It actually isn't talking about alcohol. It was written with the intent to talk about picking yourself up after any situation that really brought you down. I'm glad you're recovering from your disorder.

  • dis song is on smallville season 7

  • @ufc1243 Just watched that episode last night :)

  • @UniqueName2 right on me 2... i have the smallville series on dvd. i got everyone at work into smallville cuz it's the shit

  • This song kinda hits close to home for me. My mom resorted to alcohol when my step-dad started beating her. I watched her life go by, it broke my heart to watch her like that. My step-dad would come home, and complain if his laundry wasn't done, or if folded correctly. I tried to tell her to get out of there with my little sister, but she didn't listen to me. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • vvovv i love this song:)

  • Can;t get enough of this song looovvve it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice. Deeper than I thought she was. I shared this with several alcoholics. They were encouaged to keep on. Don't give up.

  • been sober for 2 years and im so glad cuz now i am free

  • My song for my life at the moment <3

  • 3 months ago now, and I'm still here :)

I can relate so much to this, its so beautiful :') Always one of my favourite songs :)

  • @wegotdeathsta it's a song about survival
