  • Thanks I had taught myself the scales a few years back then hadn't done it for awhile then last night I thought to give it a try again & couldn't remember how to do it & luckily I came across your video. This gave my memory the needed boost to make sense of the confusion the scales were once again driving crazy.

  • Great video.

    @dealdesign0003

go advertise with Vevo; we don't want you here.

  • god job<3

  • If you like reggae, reggaeton, or dancehall music, "reggaelinx website"is an awesome site for you.

  • nice BEEFSTICK fingers lol

  • Nice BEEFSTICK fingers lawlz

  • thanks for writing down how to do it step by step in the info, it really helped and now i can play the c major scale :D thanks :D

  • i love her boston accent

  • this was helpful :)

  • (cough)

  • Thank you!

  • im so confused. ive seen like 5 different variations of the c major scale in first position but which one is right?

  • @wowhobbs3 As long as you don't play any sharps or flats, they are all correct. A c major scale is c to c with no sharps or flats. You can start on a G and its still part of the c major scale. I hope that clears it up a little bit

  • @tigertrax3 well theo ne i first learned

Starting on th low e goes

    F G B C E F A C D F G

but then i saw a different that goes like

    E F G

    A B C

    D E F

    G A

    B C D

    E F G

  • @wowhobbs3 its still part of the c major scale.

  • ms i am confused why is there so many scales like C major scale , pentatonic scale and others ?? hoping for response

  • I learned the entire C major scale just by watching this video. Again, I cannot thank you enough.

  • Thank you for making this video, I've been reading this book and it's frustrating me to no end that I can't even learn how to read something so basic. Thank God we have the internet and I no longer have to experiment until I get it right like an 80's child.

  • @TopOfTheScoreboard LOL...I began learning in the 1950's, when there was nothing, and you had to hopefully find a "good" instructor (who wasn't a rip off), or a friend or relative who already knew how to play. I was lucky...I had a friend AND a relative that gave me "beginner" lessons, plus books to learn by, which was hard. Good luck with your learning guitar. :D)

  • lol... this is hard... now i know how hard it really is for a beginner... i mean d technique is easy but oww.. it really hurts... :)

  • Thanks heaps really easy to understand and learn Thanks!

  • 19 seconds.. woahhh

    ;) aha

  • my fingers tip hurts aaahh.!!!!!

  • dosent it go further than that?

  • that guitar is ancient!! possibly made out of hemp? no way will you give money to the establishment! make your own out of hemp and take down the corporations!!!

  • C major scale doesn't end there...

  • i am having trouble picking single strings, i keeps strumming the wrong ones, lol.

  • it seems complicated but i got the first scale down in 5 minutes. but i need to keep repeating it to be faster and install it into muscle memory.

im trying the 2nd position which has more parts and i got half of it down.

just have to memorize them I guess.

how much should a novice practice a day?

  • I'm a novice as well, and I'd recommend at least an hour a day. If you want to get good fast, or simply great, I would shoot for two hours a day.

  • I am new to learning the guitar....and it is so hard. I want to be able to play but i feel like i am not getting anywhere. Thanks for this though(:

  • @xoxKatieMariexox just keep practicing. you'll get there. Guitar is something you build into your mind and fingers

  • Thanks for the info! I am a beginner so what is the practical use of the scale(s)? How will this help me to be better?

  • @rwbrdms1 it will help you to be faster in your picking, your teqniuque and you will be able to play some solos in the key of C Major

  • Thanks for the info!

  • @rwbrdms1

Mostly for soloing and classical sounding riffs.

  • i am sorry but that did not help

  • I've been playing guitar for a long time and just now considered to play scales, The last thing i've learned guitar wise.

  • @cossatotfalls Really?? I'm just now learning (a month in) and am trying to learn now. What else should I begin with besides basic chords??

  • Tableture, or TAB. Learn some Excercises and/or songs including Hammer-ons and some pull-offs.

  • u have a cool british accent

  • hello again peeps

  • heyy thanks.

i missed my class the day we learned this, so thanks for helping me catch up :D

  • This really helped me! Thanx!!!

  • the scales can use in solo playing.

  • people are mean XD and i gotta admit but watching a vid to jugde is stupid XD but as for your vid i liked it i dont think your voice is patranizing and thanks for the google tip :)

  • Aah! I feel all proud of myself. I've had a guitar for the longest time but have been way too lazy to actually learn how to play.

    Thank you for the tutorials!

  • thank you!

wooow there seems to be a lot of different scales possible.this is gonna take time!

  • The thing is there is many different ways to start it! =]

  • hello peeps ha ha

  • this conversation was over two months ago shut up. i know nothing your watching a c scale video. i only watched it to judge

  • I don't get it!

  • syncronicity-I was fooling with the scales last night trying to blend the country feel with the "c" scale and the "d" scale for a blues feel....all the best

  • thanks! It's a very nice looking guitar I bet it sounds sweet? Nice solid body and a fine looking neck, just drooling at it now on an online shop!

  • Excellent! I've faved it for reference. By the way I've got a Johnson JD 27 now! I had to share that with you

  • You are one amazing inspiring woman. And you make everything so much easier to learn. Thank you.

  • thanks pukeythief!

  • Great tuition as always. Not much use to me unfortunately as I can only play gallagher/weller/ashcroft stuff in first position or with a few basic barrs.

    Maybe one day though. =)

  • nowt wrong with a bit of that! Their great songs to play on guitar and sing too. By the way thanks :-)
