  • i would like to know more about that overcoat thing

  • I totally agree on dropping the "Johnny Tactical" look. I love the military style bags and the do take abuse well but the modern backpacking gear seems more adaptable. Thanks for the video and the inspiration. Cheers.

  • it need sumer handwarmers

  • do you remember where you bought that pan? i cant find it on the gsi website at all. great vid thanks for the upload.

  • Awesome! Thanks Trevor.

  • What model is your Mora?

  • @jonlocke83 It is the Companion

  • Dude your 1st BOB was way better. Should there be enough panic where it's needed to BO you'll want to get away from urban areas immediately. You shouldn't be near an urban area in most BO situations. Urban areas will have hoardes of desperate people, who will kill you and take your shit. Entering urban areas will parish you. That said you'll want to look intimidating in case someone comes to your camp, and dressing tactically gives the impression that you have the know how to protect yourself.

  • @gwynn1975 I didn't think of that. Would've been nice to have awhile back before I broke the tip off my Kershaw Blur.

And I hate to say it, after reading some other previous comments but I do think a few more mags is a good idea. Not so much for "seek and destroy". But more because if you are forced into a fire fight the extra ammo could come in handy. That's just my opinion though. :) looking forward to your next video man.

  • The only things that i could suggest you add is - Wax nylon coated dental floss, it is mega strong and can help with all sorts - also a needle and thread, useful for repairing torn clothing or if needed to stitch a wound - lastly i would carry a better standard of medical equipment, reasons being you might stumble across someone else that needs aid or even your immediate family needs better treatment.

Other than that mate, great videos!!!

  • your right about the food because of the rule of threes

  • I would consider boredom in the wilderness a good thing; it means you're not hungry and safe. Quite a few other things in the wild would enjoy killing you though.

  • how much of your stuff do u get on budk?

  • u have a tooth brush but i think u shuld add some soap or sumin, and some wet wipes. when im out on exersize a quick wash does wonders for my morale

  • cayenne pepper put on a bad cut will stop the bleeding and it does not burn

  • i bet you cant smoke on a submarine anymore bc these fuckers gotta be all "concerned" about others these days but its still cool for the gov to murder little brown kids in southamerica so pepsi can build a stupid bottling plant down there, but second hand smoke, "why thats just inhumane"..stupid

  • Good call on the Bic lighter. Spent 10 years on submarines. Oxygen in the atmosphere @ sea level is around 20%. We would sometimes get down to 16% on mission & have trouble maintaining & the only cigarette lighters that would light in those conditions was a Bic.

  • Yo i think i got a good suggestion for the bag,....Vodka, i was reading that it makes a good antiseptic for cuts, and can be used as mouth wash, i can help foot odor, numb a sore tooth, clean glasses. prolongs the life of razors, theres alot of uses for it besides just recreational ones, i know ive been buggin you about ammo but i think im on to something with the vodka let me know what you think.

  • Outstanding! Many good tips. I completly forgot I'll need a cleaning kit for my guns. DUH! Thanks.

  • At least your up here in Washington and close to flatland's and Selkirk mountains.

  • Okay so i admit it's a pretty well rounded and complete survival kit, but in a WW3 situation what the heck are you gunna do when you use up youre one and only spare magazine for the AR and the only spare you have for the 9 milli? cower and die, or go deer hunting with a spear and the swiss army knife? I kid, but for real where you gunna find more ammo if theres no more gun stores? food u can catch one way or another, but i highly doubt you carry stuff to produce more bullets

  • @chupacabras0905 If you honestly think you need a bunch of ammo to fight off hoards of people, then good luck to you. I'd love to see how long you can last by yourself against 3 people or more. Good luck.

The idea of bugging out for me is to go into hiding, not stand and fight. The few people that find me, will offer enough guns and ammo for me to resupply

  • @gwynn1975 Oh i see, i meant no disrespect i like all your videos, i was just curious, i mean its not necesarily to fight off "hoards" of people, but if its ww3 or something it could last for years, and its not just fighting but hunting small game, a squirell makes a fine meal but aint to filling, not everyone you encounter is gunna have rounds for your AR. and 3 on 1, no problem i served 6 months in iraq until i got hit in the thight with shrapnel, but i still have experience

  • @gwynn1975

Are you saying that you are going to disarm violent people or Joe Blow doing the same thing that you are doing?

    Hopefully just violent people.

  • brilliant video, im in the uk,ive been thinking about making a bag up for a while, im gona sort one out now.the only thing i prob wont put in would be a gun as we aint allowed to carry them over here, although people do. its something im gona have to consider at some point when putting the bag together or i mite hide one close by and have it within spitting distance in an emergency last resort.

  • hey got a question, was curious where you got the digital night desert overcoat? - great vid btw

  • Why no communications gear? Handheld Ham radio and some 2ways perhaps

  • Looked up the Gerber artifact and thinking of getting one. Is it a good tool?

  • @jonlocke83 I like mine.. It keeps me from prying with my knife tip

  • Ever look at a bush buddy for a cooking system? It works great.

  • I was taught and now I teach the KISS method to survival, KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) if you have 30 lights you are carrying to much weight same with the knifes, carry a multi tool and a fix blade thats it. The rest of your stuff is good but you have to remember, comfort = pounds: pounds = pain

  • I use to carry atleast 6 30 rd. mags for a day patrol.....plus a the one in the rifle and one on my butstock.....

  • 5 knives 4 lights 16 bandanas/scarfs.... luxuries up the ass but only one extra mag. for each weapon.....5 bucks says you can survive with half that nonsense, but you never not have enough ammo........

  • @crf450rvta True that !, you need more ammo on your person, that A-R probably shoots an ass-load of bullets per minute when squeezing that trigger, and this fools got one extra mag that probably only holds like 20 rounds, bad idea

  • Very nice man. Your last one was pretty good but the new one blows it out of the water.

  • I've looked at a lot of BOBs on YouTube and this is by far the best. How much does the bag weigh?

  • Gwynn, just read "Survivors" By Rawles.. Great read. And this video is incredible. Great job. I'm about to duplicate your bag. Keep up the great work!

  • hay there Gwynn, you make really nice video's but i have a question... (or two)

    - who are you planning to run from,

    - when and for

    - how long? [ police & military have heat seeking device ranging 5 miles to detect you.]

    - why carry so much double stuff? when (besides clothing) all you need is a small axe, fire steel, and cookpot... (okay... a knive and snire wire helps too :) thank you and greetings from holland.

  • @gwynn1975 Might I suggest switching one of your bandana's with a shemaugh, great accessory to have. They are a very multi-functional item: towel/hand cloth, head wrap, scarf, and it's very light weight. Great BoB, loving it!!!

  • Near the end, with the black sweatshirt, it really hides your pouches and M+P very well, excellent casual concealment, even if you just had to run into a 7-11 store to get a drink.

  • Argh, I forgot to say you can also use the CLP as a protectant/cleaner on all your knife blades, so a multifunction addition to the pack.

  • For your gun cleaning kit - how about a small bottle of liquid Breakfree CLP (cleaner, lube, protectant). I just bought a bottle, i want to make a portable cleaning kit too, you can use it for cleaning the bore, slide, rails, etc. and it comes in a spray, 4 oz. liquid and even a mini 2 oz liquid (saw it at the gun shop). These are excellent vids by the way, you have really put a lot of thought into all this.

  • Another cool stove item is an Emberlit stove - it is 5 pieces, stainless steel, you put it together, kind of like a rocket stove, then you just use sticks/etc. as the fuel. I haven't tested it yet, but it could be backup or to conserve the butane?

  • These are great vids, lots of ideas, will help me make more changes/additions to the prep bag, thanks!

  • Instead of risking throwing away a descent weapon, why not carry a disguised single shot shotgun walking stick, doesn't make you look tactical and doubles as a walking stick.

  • where do you find those asap drinks? i have been looking for awhile with no luck

  • We figured out exactly where you are....(joke '>} )

  • great review....greetings from austria

  • I take it you live somewhere relatively warm in the winter?

  • How much money do you have invested in the whole kit not including the AR-15.?

  • @MrMyNameIsBrandon It's really hard to say, because I've been collecting this stuff for quite awhile and some of it has been given to me as gifts. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but I would say around $200

  • I'd guess more like $400 by the time all the pouches, stoves, sleeping, utensils, knives, etc. are added, or perhaps $500. But once you have the items, you have them, so in the long term it is not really that much, a step at a time.

  • Great vid! Thanks for your time you took to put this together!

  • Full of info thanks

  • Nice video! I personally bring more clothing (A fleese that will keep you warm when wet, rain jacket etc...) and a real tent with a sleeping bag and a air mattress to sleep on. I have froze my a-- off too many times. I think they are well worth the weight.

  • I immediately favorited the video after I saw those spices

  • Nice setup...

  • How are you supposed to look "non military" wile your carrying a huge m4 around

  • @561gingerninja lmao

  • @561gingerninja Easily.. Toss the AR-15 (M4's are for military/LEO only) in the bushes. Not that hard. Just have to use your imagination

  • i cut myself like 2 times with that mora knife.

  • Just a suggestion, you should have an extra belt and a pair of pants if you have to leave quickly and have on shorts without a belt.

  • Great video sir.

  • I have a bit of suggestions. You should put in a large survival knife i.e. Becker bk9, kabar heavy bowie, rtak 2 inside your pack or attatched to the outside. Another is a pack of smokes. An addict will trade really good items for a cigarette. Another is some heat packs. It can get cold.

  • I always take a small bag with travel sized toiletries. Liquid soap, toothpaste/brush, alcohol based hand sanitizer (also use for fire acceleration), small baby wipes. Personal hygiene (or lack of) can have a great impact on mental fitness!

  • Hey Gwynn thanks for the video, was wondering were you got those small vials for the spice tin, i think thats a great idea

  • Great Video!

  • I just had an idea! what if you put local maps on orange bandanas

  • my EDC includes a Spydey Tenacious as well. thanks for the vid, good luck with Top Shot

  • You have a good thing going from what I see. It seems you have alot of emphasis on defence. I get that, I do similar. However it seems you lack in a very big way medical supplies and water storage. Water will be critical. Medical could be just as critical. A decent cut that normally wouldnt be a huge issue, during disaster could kill you (think staff) As far as the cooking ect. Once its life has been used up it wont be anything to dump it.

  • Great Job my Friend! Lets just hope and Pray that we never have to " Bug out for any reason" !

  • Can you do a review of the weapons cleaning kit up close couldn't really see

  • Great vid way to go

  • Where did u get that monocular?

  • great video, love it, im definitley puttin aluminum foil, thats thinkin outside the box! SUBSCRIBE

  • Some great ideas thanks!

  • @Logan112 Thanks Logan.. Stay safe

  • What pants are those?

  • @BlackMesaSecurity They are 5.11 TacLite Pro's. Thanks for watching

  • heres a few suggestions for your BOB: a small wind up radio that doesnt need batteries (so you can listen to govt propoganda saying everything is fine hehe) Also get some balloons. youtube search this, "balloon bb gun" you can make a pretty poweful bb gun out of them to hunt small games (saves your reg ammo and you literrally carry hundreds of balloons which dont take up space) also get you a dirty magazine. your gonna bug out so your gonna wanna see a hot girl every now and then lol

  • @bubber25 Great ideas. Thanks!!

  • @gwynn1975

i love the spice container how did u get those vials? ive been looking 4 ways 2 carry spices and thats perfect

  • Awesome video(s)! What is your opinion about carrying a small amount of dish soap or even body soap?

  • @DellDude Thanks brother.. I think that's a great idea. I usually have a small bottle of soap from REI, but I always forget to put it in the BOB. Thanks

  • To redundant with a lot of gear. Your probably carrying five pounds of the same stuff over and over again that you could use for other important stuff like more then one spare mag for the AR. I don't want it to sound like I'm just bitching here cause I loved your first bug out bag! But I do think that you went way off the mark changing everything like you did. I see why you changed the bag but I think you had the gear nailed in your first setup. Don't want you to kick it cause of lack of gear.

  • @thejman2288 I appreciate the insight. I'm looking into lightening my load. Thanks again. take care

  • I meant to ask in the last video about the snake bite kit. Have you used it in the past and do you recommend that one?

  • @MICHAELPITBULLGYLES I have never had to use it thank goodness. It's the only one that I have found commercially that is available in a lot of places. I figures, something is better than nothing. It is made by Cohglans. Thanks for watching

  • That has to be one of the best reviews I have seen!

  • @ceadeses Thank you very much! take care and be safe

  • Where did you get that surplus bivy? Is it Italian army?

  • @futurerngr10 I bought it from Sportsman's Guide. I think it is Italian. It was a deal where you buy 2 for like $17. I gave the other one to my dad. Thanks for watching

  • where did you get that surplus bivy? Is it Italian army?

  • nice setup bro

  • @13ccasto Thank you very much..

  • Nice 2 videos from the change up. Good idea of the bag change up. I too have thought of that but I haven't decided to change my bag yet. I am still using a camo external frame bag by Thompson Center.

  • @SenseiTucker Thank you Sensei.. I'm still in the testing phase, and so far, I like this one better than the Assault Pack style.. I've got a couple others to try out, and I want to try an external frame soon.. Thanks for watching and commenting.. Take care

  • very good vid, was entertaining and informative. you seem to combine effectiveness and subtleness harmoniously. i love to get out and go hiking on occasion, and alot of the gear and tactics you portrayed in this video were very helpful to me.

  • @Se7enMag Thank you for the kind words.. I'm glad my video was able to help out.. Thanks for watching

  • this 2.0 is much better then your original. I know a BOB is supposed to be about planning ahead, but all the preperation and you still wont know how long you may be bugged out. In my bag I have less battery dependant devices, like only one flashlight, but also an isreali candle. It also might be worth investing in a MSR miniworks water filter... its less time consuming... Still, im sure with what you have, you would have no trouble surviving... great vid, brother.

  • @shawneegeek Thank you so much my friend.. Good advice.. Take care

  • What pack are you using in this video?

  • @kite71000123 The pack is a Lowe Alpine

  • This is what I am doing in the next week or so. Thank you so much for this invaluable information! I need to get this kit compiled and this video has just been my inspiration! I hope to post a video response when I have it all done. I am very glad I found you on here. I saw you through The Tactical defender.

    Here is to living right!

  • @myesque Awesome.. I look forward to seeing the video.. Take care and be safe my friend

  • Great vid Trevor! I was wondering about the tin and the spice containers and were did you get them? Thanks, bbryder17

  • @bbryder17 My mom actually got those from a Whole Foods store here in Spokane. It was a stocking stuffer gift for Christmas.

  • Great vid gwynn! One note on your spices is that you may want to change your sea salt to an iodized salt just for health reasons. Just a thought, keep up the great work!

  • @Seppish1 thanks my friend. I will look into it.

  • Comment removed

  • Good kit bag G

  • @SurvivalRox Thank you very much

  • Another great video series. Well done man. You're system looks solid.

  • @rowdybeaver33 Thanks Beaver!!

  • fantastic bug out series very nicely done

  • @MrSlambangboom Thank you very much.. Thanks for watching

  • id like to here more on your hammock sounds pretty cool is it expensive ?

  • @throatkutinjuggalo17 I'll do a review on it soon.. It costs around $60

  • Great series Trevor, added it to my favorites! I might have missed it but what about a sleeping bag?

  • @BACKWOODSBLISS The sleeping bag stays in my Jeep. I have one of the older military mummy bags.. Too big to go into my pack, but that's why I carry the bivy bag and reflective blanket.. thanks for watching

  • @gwynn1975 12 cent increase = $20.12 = 2012 = "disaster"

Was just a play on numbers. :)

  • @tuxinduluth well played my friend, well played

  • Great system Trevor. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.

  • @edgedweapon88 Thank you sir!!

  • Excellent Vid Trevor...just a suggestion i would personally add a deck of cards and some mole skin for your feet!!! u only have that one set bro!!! oh and the spice idea was genius!!!!!!!

  • @ascorpio09 I thought about a deck of cards, and actually forgot to throw it in.. Thanks for watching Lisa

  • Really nice bug out bag man.... Thanks!!

  • @kowboy520 Thank you for watching Kowboy

  • Nice update. Hey I'll give you $20 for your Vulture II. :)

  • @tuxinduluth I'll have to think about that.. ummm.. NO!!! LOL

    Thanks for watching my friend

  • @gwynn1975 $20.12 is my last offer on the Vulture bag...lol. Seriously though you gave up on the vulture bag due to it's color?

Alot of my stuff is OD green and has never caused an raised eyebrow on the hiking trails , plus any maxpedition packs I have outlasted any camping/hiking bag which tend to be thinner nylon.

I had to evacuate my neighborhood once due to a gas line break & once due to a railcar spill of benzene. Neither time did anyone ever look at my bag. Just my thoughts.

  • @tuxinduluth hmm.. .12 cent increase.. I think I'll pass.. LOL

I didn't give up on the Vulture.. I just don't want it as a BOB.. I still use it for hiking and overnighters

  • Awesome series Trevor. Thanks for sharing

  • @hinckleypoland Thank you for watching..

  • lol i am glad i cant get poison oak or ivy i get to save like 2 oz haha yay

  • @severzero That 2 oz can build up to a lot after a few miles.. Thanks for watching

  • There gonna take all that stuff away from you at the FEMA refugee center

  • @dsarti1 if they find me..

  • Watch cutlry lovers video about the chocolat shake having trace of samnella

  • @thingyee1118 I'll have to check that out.. although I've drank about 10 of them without incident, that is good to know.. thank you

  • @gwynn1975 Ok thanks its only sum of the manufacturing dates that have possble contamination.

  • great vid ! all 3 parts .

  • @chopper4928 Thanks chopper..

  • Awesome vids! Whats the overall weight with everything?

  • @nosaj03 The pack came in right around 33 pounds. My AR is pretty hefty with the Magpul UBR stock, but I haven't weighed it yet.. I'll go do that soon.. Thanks for watching

  • Nice setup Trevor. Whats the total weight of your gear? When you strap on your pouches does your pack integrate well with them over cover them up making it difficult to access and uncomfortable? When I wear gear on my belt line and put a waist strap from my pack on it does the above.

  • @CdnLifeguard71 The pack came in at 33 lbs.. the backpack rides high enough that I can still access my pouches and pistol easily.. Thanks for watching my friend

  • great par of vids I totally agree with u on looking non tactical

  • @unclecow Thank you sir..

  • great kit mate nice to see you didnt go over board with the food either

  • @wolfbrother2501 Thanks brother.. I can always find more food down the road when it becomes necessary..

  • @Carnold37 Thank you.. Take care

  • Looks like you have your bases covered, dude. Keep up the great work.

  • @MrJimbofox Thanks Jimbo!!

  • great video thanks

  • @recon66661 Thanks for watching

  • great vid man! and good bare bones approach ive been stressin to ppl in the past about blending in i.e. not looking like a blackwater contractor walking through downtown, now i see more ppl thinking about being defensive instead of offensive, i rock a north face solaris 40 for the natural disasters and for shtf i rock a camelbak bfm 500 both are great bags and have their purposes...peace.

  • @secretsquirrell13 I agree.. I like the Solaris.. Thanks for watching

  • The spice tin you have is that a commercial product or something you made on your own ? Great vid by the way!

  • @KeystoneRangers It's commercial.. I got it as a Xmas gift, but you can find them at any Whole Foods (Organic) Grocery Store.. Thanks for asking

  • FINALLY! :D Trev, honestly man, I have been waiting for this for months!

  • @iyBesao LOL.. Sorry it took so long.. Thanks for sticking around for it..

  • Good video. Lots of useful information. Will be looking for more.

  • @hotstuff7655 thank you.. stay tuned

  • great video! It has given me some great ideas for my own BOB I'm putting together!

  • @TacticalPat I'm glad I could help.. thanks for watching

  • Hey, if you don't mind me asking, What do you think of the Icon Link? Been eyeing it on EDC site for a while now. Looks like a natural pick for BOB bags.

  • @CaptainFur So far so good.. I'm gonna do a complete review on it soon..

  • @CaptainFur Be looking forward to that. If it's as handy as I think it will be, I'll be buying one for each family member's kit (BOB).

  • you have some quality gear there, id add a little more water as you need water more than food, bare minimum and i mean just enough to get by is 1 liter a day. water/food should make up most of weight as both items are greatly needed and will be consumed which will lighten up your pack.

when i go on 3-4 day hunting trips my pack is a good 55-70lbs.

    no toilet paper???

  • @cbr6864 I'm guessing you didn't watch the whole video.. The toilet paper was with the Ranger Handbook, and as far as water goes, the water bottle is a Filter in itself.. (All the water I want) I bug out to places with water.. I'll be fine as long as the water source doesn't get compromised

  • Really complete BOB. and some good Mods of your own.

  • @SECRETBOL Thanks for watching
