To any idiots from MGM watching this who may be thinking of having it taken down, bear in mind that some people watching this might well want to go out and buy the video or soundtrack. You are getting a load of free advertising.
What's amazing to me is how much faster it seems than even some of today's video/computer/web mash-ups. Reggio was using 35 MM film, with old-school editing, and he created a vision of our society that hits home better than any CGI today. A classic of the highest order.
Terrifyingly compelling... I watched this on a long-haul flight between San Francisco and Sydney. Perhaps a mistake? Argh. I can't remember who said this originally but "Nobody does existential dread quite like Philip Glass".
this movie was made at least twenty eight years ago ,and when i watch it now it looks like it was made yesterday with all the WAL-MART people on the planet....this was supposed to be a wake -up call,,,,, NOT AN INVITATION............................ATTENTION WAL-MART SHOPPERS ....STAY HOME...
i commented on the first part of this video.as i said Philip Glass has altered my peception and view of new and innovative music forever,i see and hear patterns and rythyms almost everywhere i now go...not only that i also HEAR them.
This film is like the best of operas, where both music & drama sections are excellent & can stand up on their own, but, combined, lift each other up to a whole new level.
Thank you for reminding me, & showing people who've not experienced it before. Always better on a big high resolution screen with good audio, but it still has power even in this reduced form, & might spur some of us to go & watch the whole thing in a more immersive format.

Bad edit! This is the highlight of the film, the point to which several minutes build up. Why would you cut the clip here?
