Even though i'm far too young to fully understand why,you just know you are watching and hearing something special...we need to keep examples of engineering like this flying..there needs to be at least one concorde/blackbird etc still showing off around the world.

I was there on Fathers day, do you know why the Lanc had to abort the heritage flypast ? and why she was escorted back to the ramp with 2 airport fire trucks in tow ? It obviously had nothing to do with the merlins as all 4 were running whan she taxied in.

Just thought you'd like to know that in the same edition of Flypast June 2009 where I found the information on the CWH Lanc, theres also an article on Just Jane and the possibility of her returning to the air,apparently all of her vital systems are in good working order and there's also around 800 Hrs left on the main wing spar,airworthy engines are available,very interesting article,would be nice to have another Lanc in the skies, that article can be found on PG 94, the CWH article is on PG 10
@TBM3EAvenger Just to let you know I live in Hamilton, and we just purchased a new set of propellers for the Lancaster about 6 months ago. Donations were sent in and we got an original pair (still in crates) from an old warehouse I believe. They cost around 120, 000 dollars and are said to be the last 4 in the world.
A "Lanc"!!. Out of curiosity are there any "Halifax's" left capable of flying into an airshow? Or are the only ones left, stuck permanentally in museums?
Sorry, but according to Wikipedia, there are no flyable Halifaxes in existence.
Two have been restored as museum displays, on is on display "as recovered" and the wrecks of two more have been found and are in various stages of reclamation
If you haven't had the chance to fly in the Lancaster, go for it! It is a fantastic experience and well worth the money. So far I have had 4 flights. 3 as paid flights before I began volunteering at the CWH Museum. My last one was as a lucky ground crew.
Lucky you :-p , When I lived in Canada I too was a member of the CWH, I used to crew on the ill fated Avenger, Flew in the Mitchell once, helped Joe with the restoration of the Yale, don't suppose he's around anymore,it was nice and close too only 10 min drive from where I was living, this was before the Lanc was restored, I moved to NJ in August of 87, and now belong to MAAM, out of Reading PA, unfortunately the 2+ hour drive, doesn't let me get out there too often.
Dooe the CWH still offer classes ?, when I was a member, I took an course on Aero engines with the CWH, still have my certificate around somewhere for completeing the course, but the main reason for replying was to confirn that you're absolutely right about the start up sequence

Yes, I believe that's correct, although there is another Lancaster with running engines called "Just Jane", which is kept at East Kirby in Linconshire, England. Apparently, it's not structurally sound enough to actually fly, but it does do taxi runs.

But with every Lanc start I've seen, up until this one, the engine sequence is 3-4-2-1. This was either 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-1-2.

Hanglands, the CWH Lancaster starts up 4-3-2-1 as it doesn't have the hydraulic system that #3 engine would have had.

I've seen this one fly in geneseo many times. It was the biggest WW2 bomber in the European theatre at that time.

we have a lancaster here in new zealand but like this example it can only do taxi runs. But now doesn't even do that.

March Tempo more suited to Ghurkas (180 paces per minute) than the R.A.F. (120 paces per minute) I know as a former drill instructor !!!
