Prada's collection is hard to define because it's so inconsistent with very different themes and directions, some are more or less successful than others. Regardless, I think this collection in particular is very young/apathetic yet very well thought out.
PRADA is amazing. This was a very different collection and I like the reference to the old Balenciaga Silhouette and the cuts were done nice. I understand that high fashion is expensive but its just not how you look but the quality of the fabrics and textiles. Also how you style the clothes with your wardrobe.
It is about how you look though, or else designers wouldn't bother with colour, cut, flattering shape.. they'd just send out very well made potato sacks every season. I don't think someone is going to pay 5 000$ for a jacket that's well made and makes you look badly. Last season's collection, in NYC, was a hard sell. It didn't move. Frayed edges are, and always will be ugly, no matter the quality.

The best show of the season anywhere. Paris has been very boring so far. That stupid woman from Grazia needs to practise if she's going to be taken seriously. Dries was gorgeous and Lanvin nice but not surprising. The easily-bored fashion people are still waiting for something better than this show.

If you look harder I guess you could interpret the elements as methphors for the abstract idea of optimism. the idea of the sun seems a strong reference in abstract way. Do you think she refering to the green house affect that we are at the fate of our own demise if we do not remain optomistic. the sun for many people is a symbol of optomism. She used the cloque fabric aswell which translates in french to mean blister.
Funny, when I saw those "post card" prints, I thought of atomic testing after WW2 on atolls in Hawaii. Given her age, her association could be closer to atomic testing than optimism, or perhaps it's a duality to her.
I HATE exposed zippers & raw hems. They're so brash & so cheap looking, which baffles me in such expensive clothing. Even with absolute technique & research, raw hems continue to unravel. The whole thing unravels, & the Emperor's new clothes are reduced to a pile of thread.
It is a common knowledge that muccia creates collections which are growers. At first you are thinking, 'I am not sure if i like this'. But then she explains her theory behind the collection and the more you look at the collection the more you like it.
However, with this collection i do not get the fasination with such a bare collection. It seems like something is missing. Nor is the subtext/concept clear. There appears to b alot of disparate refrences and for me the silhouettes r banal.

Often Prada can be dull and dreary but this collection was fresh, sexy, and chic.
The Men's SS 2010 is very nice, too.
