That pattern looks like 1980s knitwear and could be done horizontally on a knitting machine intarsia setting. You'd end up with something Kaffe Fassett would be proud of!

I had some delay issues with it. It took one second to hear the note I was playing. I like the sound, but it's not very useable due the delay.
