OS 4.0 Will include a tethering option. However, most likely it won't be free as it was before in order to set up tethering you'll have to enable that with AT&T. If AT&T allows it free (which it should be especially if you have the unlimited data plan which all 3gs users do I'm sure) then great...The home screen will be mostly the same, as far as unlock screen, you'll be able to use two separate wallpapers one for lock screen and one for home screen that's about it.

I think iad won't be that bad. In fact it means that people who put out free apps will be getting revenue. This will possibly mean a slight increase in free apps as well as cheaper ones. As far as getting ads, it will be a little ad at the bottom of your screen that I can ignore and there won't be full page ads anymore that I have to deal with. This is a major deal for developers and I don't see this hurting me while running an application.

I currently have a blackberry and a iPod... I usually listen to my iPod whiles on the phone using two different headsets. With regards to the multitasking facility, is it possible to have an app to allow an end user to control each of their ear phones... For example a user should be able to listen to their music whiles being on the phone... The user should also be able to control the volume on each earphones. This will also be beneficial for users who have difficulties in one their ears.
