  • lol A large battery of percussionists. That was rather unexpecting and amusing.

  • Beatiful arrangement, but isn't this a rather American piece? There are plenty of great songs from British film.

  • @RonLewenberg It's an Italian piece...

  • @johaukos ???

  • @hop208 It's from an Italian produced movie by an Italian composer. Not American, not British!!

  • @johaukos United Artists approached the film’s screenwriter, Luciano Vincenzoni, to sign a contract for the rights to the film and for the next one. He, producer Alberto Grimaldi and Sergio Leone had no plans, but with their blessing, Vincenzoni pitched an idea about “a film about three rogues who are looking for some treasure at the time of the American Civil War. The movie is about the US, @RonLewenberg 's comment was appropriate.

  • @hop208

The movie is set in the united states, but the artists behind it were italian.

Speaking about the composer,Ennio Morricone, his style it's certeinly not american.

There's a difference between the movies he scored for director Sergio Leone and,for example,Elmer Bernstein's scores for The Magnificent Seven series.

I'm not saying "Morricone>Bernstein",but just "there's a stylistic difference between american composers and italian composers".

(Sorry, english is not my mother language)

  • Solo falto el latigo y un tiro de una 45 por ahi.Bellisimo.

  • The percussionists are having a blast.

    I know I'd, lol.

  • Seems vapid by comparison to Morricone's orchestra - and a bit too fast.

  • Best!!!!!!!!

  • Trust me if you ever get the chance to see this guy in person......RUN! He is a total dick. I use to work on the grounds crew at the Brevard Music Center. He was always walking around like he was God himself. Good conductor. Horrible person.

  • GOOD JOB !!!

  • Wow the trumpet player (lady) is AwSoMe!!!!

  • best performance... to me

  • to be honest i prefer the spaghetti western orchestra version ;)

  • ahh the old west. love it

  • They're obivously smiling because they got chant. Every musician loves to make vocal noises in an orchestral piece. It's kind of what keeps us happy during rehearsals :)

  • awesome

  • I love how they're all smiling!

  • I was there that evening and this encore was the highlight of the concert. The percussionists' "vocals" were hilarious and they obviously enjoyed every second of it. Thanks so much for posting this gem.

  • You can see that the musicians have a lot of fun to play that piece. :-)
