  • Thanks a lot for the advice j and I'm def going to try the 11a

  • i just got mine 2 days ago and i love the sound but the damn thing wont stay in tune even after getting the intonation fixed and everything, any suggestions?

  • @jasoncuebas A couple of things: gently stretch the strings and slowly tune up to pitch--try that a couple of times to help new strings settle in. I also put pencil lead into the nut slots (just take the string out of the slot and then scrap some pencil lead and press the dust into the slot and replace the string-do this for all strings). If the guitar was shipped to you from another climate it may need a few days to acclimate and settle in too. Higher gauge strings help-I use 11s now.

  • sexy ass guitar

  • i cant wait to get mine this week it's on its way in the mail

  • Great review.

I like the idea of a blend knob. I wired my strat for the same effect not really understanding what I was doing. I thought it was cool to have just a tad bit of flexibility on the tone. Though I will have to have it professionally wired now that I see that Ricks come standard with it.

  • whats the best rick to play you cant do that?

  • @PeterSteves Maybe the 350V63 Liverpool model, but I think a 330, or a 360 would work for that sound as well.

  • thanks a million - very informative.

  • damn! these great guitars are not selling at México. :(

  • peter buck from r.e.m uses one of these and those guys from radiohead to

  • Lovely!

  • that is a beautiful guitar, do you rickenbackers go well with fender hot rod amps???

  • @invictorium Yes, in my opinion, they do. I use mine with a Fender Blues Jr., which is part of the Hot Rod series and it sounds good to me. With that series you can play clean, which I prefer with a Rickenbacker, or you can use the master volume to add overdrive, which I use occaisonally.

  • How do you clean the fretboard with strings on ?

& Also, how does one like yours sound in open D or G , for playing Blues,, compared to a Gibson 335 ?

    please reply,,,ty

  • @FIRECRACKER392 I put a thin rag under the strings and rub against the fretboard after playing like shining shoes. This gives it a quick clean, but when I change strings I clean the fretboard with a rag more vigorously. I have not tried open D or G but that is a good idea. We can play any type of music on any guitar but I tend to associate an ES 335 with many blues greats so that would be a top pick for me in a blues guitar, although you got some nice blues tones out of a 330!

  • @JWirtzfeld ,

Thanks, very nice guitar by the way, I would think its more than enough quality guitar to play most any blues,

If you try Open G, or D , please post it.

Im like you on affects w/my guitar, im just starting as a beginner, and I chose a 64 reissue Gibson Les Paul Custom 335,, lol, for real,,not to bad for a beginners huh? :)

And i cant stand the thought of effects or distortion on the sound i have, hehe,

Yea, a 330 is top shelf too.

Im tryin tostart in Miss. Hills Blues v.hard

  • What finish is that?

  • @gullwing14 "Jetglo" which is Rickenbacker's name for gloss black.

  • I had a 350 a few years back and was advised by Gary Erickson guitars to remove the fretboard lacquer finish. I did for around 100 bucks...

THE ROSEWOOD UNDERNEATH IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL AND RED!

THE SOUND OPENED UP AND A MILLION MILES WIDE!

I would recommend doing that to all Ricky owners...UNREAL...

i STILL HEAR IT IN MY HEAD

  • So NICE to hear a demo without distortion.

  • how this guitar sound in an overdriven amp? No one uses one for soloing, I'd like to know why...

  • @KingTabor Actually some do solo with them. Mike Campbell (lead guitar for Tom Petty) solos nicely with a Rick. I saw your nice lead guitar work, King Tabor, and I think you would do a great job soloing on one too. Since the 330 is semi-hollow, I think they sound good with a moderately overdriven amp sound, however, I do agree most people think of them with a jangly clean amp sound historically & that's mostly how I play it.

  • @JWirtzfeld Both Paul Weller of The Jam and Pete Townshend of The Who used Ricks and they're both from bands which use a distorted sound, try a 330/360 through any VOX amp and you should hopefully get the same raw sound which comes through the music of The Jam and The Who, afterall they are two of the greatest English Rock & Roll bands ever known.

  • @KingTabor check out Rickenbacker 330 Bluesy Lead by Vela75, he does a few great demos of the 330, some with OD and some fine lead playing

  • @KingTabor I made a video for that very reason. As most people associate Rickenbackers with strumming chords for some reason. Check out the video if you're interested.

  • @roeshambeau123 Nice work, roeshambeau123, you are getting some great sounds.

  • @JWirtzfeld thank you much!

  • beautiful guitar very Peter Buckish

  • simply amazing

  • Thanks for posting this.

I'm a proud owner of one of these in jetglo and it literally is the best guitar I've ever had.
