  • Great band, remmember me the school.

  • i love her hat! HAHA,

but this is like an awesome song, i love the band!

  • If someone really tried to usher her off the stage in the middle of her song, she would drop him.

  • nice

  • I Love U Chrissy.& the band!!

  • without that hat she'd look better =]

i like the pretenders, but led zeppelin and pink floyd rox :]

  • MUST be Top of the Pops. Outstanding!

  • my dads in this!

  • That's a cute hat!

  • how old is this?

  • BAD ASS!!

  • oh yeah....

  • After all these years, still love the song ... and still dislike the video

  • Holy shit! Look at how bad the dancing is:)lol I guess there's no escaping our whiteness is there:)lol

  • God bless Martin Chambers,Robbie McIntosh and Malcom Foster.

  • Great performance of Robbie McIntosh!

  • Can anybody find anything related to the instrumental "space invaders" besides the final credits to Cheech and Chongs next movie? and could they post it?

  • Space Invader was on the first album; I'll post it but you have to message me to let me know if you're still interested though

  • It was filmed in a warehouse in London. I know because I was in it!!! I was playing a policewoman trying to arrest some of the protesters. If you stop the video at 4:06, you can see the back of me wearing a white shirt.Ah, to be that young again!!!

  • Hello. So, this video was all just an act?! I was 13 yrs old & in Junior High when this song came out. I thought I remember MTV saying that this really happened. They were supposedly filming a show called "Top of the Pops" w/the Pretenders on stage and a real fight broke out. HAHAH!! All these years later, I find out the truth...but thanks for the memories!!

  • Oh, to be this bad ass!

  • I am going to see The Pretenders tribute band, Talk Of The Town on Friday, Dec. 5. They are playing at Frank Cariola's Sundance in Rocky Point, NY. The lead singer Mary Beth, looks like and sounds like Chrissie. Its scary. Thats 60 mile drive from Manhattan (90 mns). The Police band , Invisible Sun are also playing that same night.

  • love the real pretenders

  • my pants behind me. haha

  • Where was this filmed?

  • Excellent excellent excellent excellent ......

  • TURN IT UP!!!!!!! this is the good stuff!!!!!!!!

  • why did I go to Ball state and end up in akron after devo and the pretenders were gone?!? Met her grandmother while she was in pebbel creek nursing home-what an incredibly classy woman. What a shock it was to realize who she was. She invited me in and I saw chrissy'ss kids pics on the dresser. Then Evelyn told me all about them. And boy were they cute. I'll never forget that day.

  • I went to Ball State as well lol

  • She always will be my fav rocker lady! I so love her....

  • Oh boy! Chrissy Hynde is 33 years old in this video and 2 months pregnant. She's 57 now but still a hot momma. Why the hell did Jim Kerr let her go. It's your big loss chap! 80's music rules!

  • yes she still is very hot. Her new record rocks also. I have always loved her stuff. She truly writes from her heart!!!!

  • Actually, it was "Back on the Chain gang" that Chrissie was pregnant in. It was released 2 years prior to this video. But I agree, Jim Kerr was stupid to let someone like Chrissie go! And YES! Chrissie still is a HOT ROCKIN' MOMMA!

  • get this, my friend thinks this is country

  • I'm not sure what it is, but there is something mysteriously sexy about Chrissy, in a cool, laid-back sort of way.

  • well that and she can (gasp) actually sing and play guitar. I know that seems to be alot to ask from todays crappy pop tarts.

  • It's true, i love her, XD.

  • How did we ever survive the eighties? Chrissy helped, what a bunch of phony idiots dancing

  • i agree why the politics, but mcCain sucks,i'm white and voted for obama

  • Why the politics? The song doesn't state the presidental election? I personally like this song. The harmonica is a little too much though. Was there a fight on the dancefloor? Probably starting a Mosh Pit! LOL! :)

  • my god..still kicks real good..!!

  • Bend it! Robbie! great gtr playing

  • this song makes me stad up and dance

  • Greatest opening riff EVER!

  • Great song Chryssie rocks! R.I.P. Honeyman

  • go Chrisie!

Palin / Biden in Oh-So Eight!

  • Go Chrissie! I have relatives in Cuyahoga Falls. Have loved her voice and music for years, Peace to all! Go Dems!

    Obama/Biden '08

  • 10代のボクの憧れのヒト、クリッシー。

    魅力的なパフォーマンスに過去が蘇えります☆

  • great song during a very sad period for the band.

  • not particularly beautiful but Chrissie is sizzling hot

  • I heart chryssie and love this band. What a performance of moving, rocking edgy rock and roll. Great harp. Rrr!!

  • All Time Favorite Love Her!

  • Ass kickin rock and roll! SOOO good! Met her grandmother in a nursing home in akron. what a wonderful, sweet, classy woman. She showed me pics of chrissie's girls. boy were they cute. I would so love to meet chryssie and talk about her grandmother, her awesome tunes and being VEGAN. Hope one day i might catch her at her restaurant in akron!

  • Luv Ya Crissy!!!!!!!!!!!! Great performance and video.

  • wow who was that at the beginning they sounded pretty cool!

  • accomplished band ..singer ...writer

  • chryssie Hynde is god and Obama is president.

  • hahahaha the end is funny. Lucky me saw them in Munich in ,85.

  • Chrissie is one of the best female performers, she does her shit and doesnt care what anybody thinks. Rocks

  • to zone zamfirče...

  • chrissie is awsome whish i could date here:(

  • chrissie is an OHIO girl from cuyahoga falls!

  • Exactly! An Ohio girl who has lived in England since 1980 (or around there). :) Cool either way.

  • i was told me they have high voices cause they come west virginia

  • or maybe both if it :yeah:

  • I really love this song ... beautiful Chrissie singing ... beautiful bass-drums support ... beautiful Telecaster sound and playing ... perfect ROCK !

  • rawel, you hear well. I'm with you on telecaster $ bass drum. And, of course, beautiful Chris...

  • Because you're high

  • no because youre high

  • I scream, you scream, we all scream for a nice fat blunt.

  • How does every note on the guitar sound like it's ringing?

  • I'm a little late, but this song solidifies me as a Pretenders fan. Chrissie is a one of a kind talent. Y'all are not pretendin', you're the real thing. Rock on!

  • Hey Maddisonluvsdix1410 an IanaBarely1511 what the hell do your posts have to do with this video? Run along now you bored little girls!!!!!!

  • from baditken happin

  • parts of this tune reminds me of Problems by the Sex Pistols

  • to aintpluggedin no wonder you think so cause i´ve heard that the pretenders was one of the first punk bands and that the sex pistols got influences (dont know if thats the right word?) from them. :D

  • One of my favorite videos. I love how the show goes to pieces as the protesters start moving towards the stage.

  • I love this song!

  • I love how these guys (and girl of course) can rock out -- even tho it's a lip-synch version, done on cue in a TV studio, the dance crowd gets so wild in response that they start a brawl and the studio pulls the plug in the middle of the performance -- and Chrissie insists on playing harp to the end - I go for this sort of intensity much more than the current metal bands (shows my age) - emotional intensity not just overstimulation

  • Ugh, do you guys want to post somewhere else? I don't want to see you fucking... I want to watch the Pretenders, NOT YOU.

  • I like the cat noise she makes. I just love Chrissy. She is right up there with Heart, Pat Benatar, Lita Ford and Joan Jett. Another great female rocker!! I also heard that she was once married to the lead singer from Simple Minds. Has anyone else heard that too?

  • It is absolutely true, too bad it ended.

  • Heart blow goats!!!!!!!

  • Just Love Crissy! Great lyrics, GREAT guitar playing. It's usually the men who get kudos for great music. Nothing wrong with that, but nice to see a woman who is not just eyecandy play her brains out. A real guitarist! Not some low-life Brittney Spears.

I should know. Iv'e been getting shit for playing guitar for a long time. I play Hendrix, Beatles, Led Zepplin. And I get called all kinds of names because the guys don't play as good as I do. And, I look better, too.

  • stop tryng to prove some shit to people.Nobody cares if you play better than others, ibet your a fat ass

  • Fuck off and die, you old, fat, middleaged man. Kiss my ass for you making such a jealous statement. That I might be able to play better than YOU?

  • the first band in the video????

  • Check out THE NUMBERS BAND on youtube - Chrissie's brother's band.

  • When you own a big chunk of the bloody third world the babies just come with the scenery.

    What a great line.

  • agreed. brilliant.

  • " I've got a smile for everyone I meet, as long as you don't try grabbin' my bag or dropping a bomb on my street..."

I love this line!!! What a classic song :-)

    Aloha from Hawaii,

    Thomas

  • Chrissie Hynde is one of the finest female rockers or rockers in general around, but some people spouted off about her being the best over some other rock-n-roll chicks. First, no female singer can touch Ann Wilson's of Heart rock vocals. True, Heart may have been too commercial--and the truth is that it has always been cooler to like the Pretenders than Heart or Pat Benatar. To me, Chrissie's vocals reminds me of a female Dylan a lot--and with her harmonica here.

  • That guitar solo is AHHHH! Thanks for posting, henleyspecial.:-)

And that drum sound by Martin Chambers pops right out like nothing else. So is that the late James Honeyman-Scott playing lead from the record or is that the guy on the vid--and who is that guy? Pretenders fans help! :-)

  • The Pretenders were inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame in 2005!

  • I've been in several bands over the years...and I always wanted to BE Chrissie when I grew up! lol.

  • "You've got a hot flash comin'" at the beginning of the video, is that right? If wrong, then what is it?

  • I was lucky to see the Pretenders in 1980 with their first band in a small venue. What a concert!!! This band was one of the best!!!!!!

  • I would have to concur!!

  • Upon closer inspection, they're lip syncing. But they do sound fabulous live on other tracks.

  • Man they sound GREAT live!

  • I have a hat like that! She bought me one.

  • Chrissy is REALLY ROCK WOMAN!

  • super sexy, i´ll marry her, i´m 55, chrissy are you out there?

  • chrissie hynde totally rocks

  • YEAH! IN THE MID OF THE RD

  • What a CLASSIC!! Definately brings back some good memories from those days!!

  • Why the Pretenders albums didn't sell 10 million copies like the Britney Spears crap is a mystery

  • you got that right¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • I have a hat like that!

  • who was the band in the very beginning?

  • Oh...One of the very BEST bands of all time!

  • awesome

  • Muito boa mesmo. atravessou fronteiras. Tks for sharing.

  • I always thought her music from this time period was her best. You hear a lot of the Ray Davies influence in her music at this time. She definitely a great rocker, and an Akronite to boot.

  • 1. Great song.

    2. Don't you miss MTV (MUSIC Television).

  • Great song about approaching middle age. They rock.

  • the best song by the pretenders

  • What's N.L.P?

  • NAZI LIBARATION PARTY

  • This song always had a kick ass guitar solo

  • i forgot about that punk band intro at the beginning of the video. MTV used to clip it when they needed more time for other videos. Now they don't even play videos anymore! Who cares anyway. Music outgrew that idiot channel after the 80's.

  • In my opinion Pat Benetar doesnt compare. Thats just Me.

  • It's a completely different style though. The Pretenders are a little more sophisticated and I'd call them more mainstream rock n roll, while Pat Benatar has a heavier, more aggressive lean. Both great in their own right, imo!

  • Pat benatar isn't even in the same ballpark as Chrissy Hind. Chrissy is a musician pat is a singer and if you think pat is heavier you haven't heard "Bad boys get spanked" or "Tattooed love boys" pat acts tough Crissy is a tough gritty Rock Queen

  • Chrissie Hynde squeezing out the notes to the end despite the fkwit invasion onstage. Puer CLASS. EJ

  • They are not really playing... Its a video.

The guitar is off and hanging during the last 5 seconds of the song.

I still think She and the "new" band rocked it...

  • If you were to make a Mt. Rushmore of women in rock, I'd put her next to Pat Benetar, Janis Joplin, and Joan Jett.

  • I couldn't agree more - just wish there was a place up there for Ann Wilson and Linda Ronstadt too (Linda use to rock her ass off).

  • Pretenders rock!

  • cocomojoe wrote: Ok this should placate Abe... his women are found in the middle of the road.

i reply: whose fault is it that they got into these problems?

  • Now there's the real deal...the ultimate rock chick - My husband says I would kiss the ground she walks on - possibly. She freakin' rocks like hell. Love, love love you Chrissie. Stay tru just like you always have. And don't take any shit. You never have and that's another reason I luv ya.

  • I heard this song on the radio today

  • band at the start is' King Kurt

  • At the start of the video, there was another band. Does anybody have a clue who they were?

  • I always loved that sound she makes going into the harmonica solo. When I was little I always wondered how she did it.

  • one of the best videos!!!

  • her voice is amazing deep and Sexy.love chrissie style always.

  • Just brings me memories of my teenage years!

  • Good song and even better solo on that Tele!

  • its a pretty short little list of true rock chicks;

    benatar

    jett

    anna and nancy wilson

    and this girl

  • ...Debra Harry

  • debra harry? she sings for blondie. this is Chrissie Hynde

  • I was responding to callieland's list of true rock chicks. I was adding Debra Harry to the list.

  • what about stevie nicks too!

  • THANK YOU!!!finally someone acknowledges her.

  • I like her hat.

  • its clearly a protest song

third world countries, bombs in the street, and then there's protesters and the pigs come

  • sorry she is talking about dropping acid at a concert. The middle of the road is trying to find me... hello.

  • huh?

  • huh huh now isn't that a thought provoking response to your thought provoking response?

  • This may sound weird but what is the deal with the protesters and what is happening at the end of the video?

  • Just adds to the excitement.

  • I used to smoke a shitload of weed back in the 80`s, and I would listen to this song

on the radio( Stoned out of my gourd). The Pretenders were up there with the best.

  • anyone knwo if thats a real band playing before the pretenders?

  • Yeah! I think it's a band called 'King Kurt'

    They were shit...

  • I don`t think it is King Kurt..I thought it was the Razzillos..not sure tho you don`t get much to go on!!

  • No it's not the Rezillos. Now i think about it though, this whole video was staged, right up to the protesters so the band at the beginning could well be too.

  • my friend patrick baily used to sing dis in home ec class at cypress jr high

  • Great song. Chrissie Hynde is one of the best female rock singers of all time. She can rock and play guitar like a dude. She still looks good and sings and good as she ever did. Too bad she's a biatch, but that's probably part of what makes her cool.

  • Great line..."I cant get from the cab to the curb without some little jerk on my back".

  • Oh, yeah! Good times!

    Thanks!!

  • Ha. The drum beat continues even after the drummer is escorted off.

Gotta love the 80's. Great video.

  • aaahhhh the 80's

  • Haha... love this song... lol but it was kind of corny when the guitarist leaped to the other platform

  • WOW !!! The Telecaster-Sound Party !!! Superbe !!!

  • I can't believe that Chrissie Hynde was married with Jim Kerr; they had different styles; however, I loved this couple.

  • great gob iron solo
