This is the north exit of shinjuku station, the redlight distict is futher north. Called Kabukicho. Around 4 min walk.

Avoid the Chinese hooker places in Kabukicho. Complete rip off. Unless things have changed since 2002. They will tell you one price for full service sex, but after you pay it they will give you a handjob only, and their pimps have the nerve to ask you to tip them. Similar sexual services in Japan, at least from the Chinese hookers, are double the price of what they are in USA. I didn't try the Japanese hookers, so I can't comment on them.
