  • he looks like norman finkelstein

  • IT IS your own creation

  • Mash ups arent new but this dude has turned it into a fine science. He's a massive mobile Party! Its good to see that someone has emerged for the next generation.

  • A good DJ can and will alter songs, they will remix songs, play one vocal track with an instrumental from a different song. What he does is pretty cool, but there are Djs out there that do this and more.

  • There are no rules dude. He's got a unique style. You don't have to scratch or do a remake or follow traditional rules. Personally, I can do remakes, remixes blah bla, but where I'm coming from at the moment, I just made a mix where I flew through 40 songs in around 5 minutes-some ppl luved it but some DJs were hatin cus "Ppl want to hear 30 sec of a song and a chorus verse structure" lmao-that wasn't the point of what I did. It was a dif creation of its own. No rules needed to sound good.

  • Tolkien was influenced by mythology. He used universal themes and dreamed up an original expression from them. He did not simply copy and paste whole paragraphs from other people's top selling books then call it 'his' work.

    BIG difference.

  • GIRL TALK kicks ass he can really make the people dance

but i got to say Girl talk IS a dj. I mean i have seen djs who do 8 track remixes with achapels and beats and samples just like girl talk. Girl talk just uses a lap top instead of decks. My opinion any way

  • he's doing nothing new, it's like he says, people come to his shows and are clueless about laptronica, so they think he's paradigm shifting, fact is, he's not but he is doing what he does particularly well, and happens to have been in the right place at the right time - in terms of getting mainstream attention - for his act to blow up. He throws a good party so more power to the guy.

  • @digimaton Straight upp. I mean, Negativland was mentioned in Rip! saying that this stuff has been around for a while.

Also, he is kinda like The Beetles. He came in at the right time, did it loud but didn't do anything new.

  • @digimaton i'm on the same boat- i can't enjoy his mainstream vibe, however, i respect him as an artist, i just feel he won't be remembered and respected BECAUSE of his fanbase having a lack of intelligence more or less... ---DJ Oxygen

  • He doesn't have an artistic bone in his body. Lame.

  • you're ignorant and obviously retarded. it is so difficult to find beats that flow that well.

  • How about creating your own beats instead? Not one artistic bone in his body.

  • hey dumb ass id like to see you try to make one

  • He definitely couldn't explain the difference between what he does and a DJ

  • well a dj (disc jockey) blends one song into another. while Girl Talk uses other lyrics over other beats so its kinda different. hope this helped at all

  • @BenJamminH7

Well.... He did say that all of his material is altered, while dj's play other peoples songs...

  • hes stealing the greatness of others

  • Oh shut up, that's like saying Tolkien is stealing the greatness of medieval fanatasy.

  • The song thats playing in the beginning

  • That song at the very beginning would be "Double Pump" off the Night Ripper album.

  • Whats the song that plays when hes talking?

  • dont mean to hate on you stank but what i think greg was saying is that people dont understand how hes part of a genre of music, its bc he is arguably th most wellknown in his genre. he doesnt single himself as an original.

  • Don't put words in his mouth. He never said he's doing anything new; he said people who've never seen it done before and see him for the first time think he's doing something new. It's their own faults for not knowing that people have created mashups with their laptops long before him. So is he supposed to tell them before every show, "Hey guys! Make sure to check out John Oswald because he pioneered this genre a long time ago." He's there to play, not educate them on music history.

  • Double Pump.

  • At 1:25 you can see the Girl Talk "Im not a DJ" tshirt. I thought that there needed to be a tshirt explaining what Girl Talk was so I made one called "I'm an SJ". SJ = Sample Jockey. Check it out at the Noosic Store. Links to the store can be found in the description of my video for another Girl Talk tshirt I did of "Play Your Part 1". Check that out at my Youtube profile. Peace and great interview "betterPropagana" !
