You sure are one of the best pianists I've heard so far in youtube....Your playing is excellent in this piece! Post some more videos pls and congratulations!!!
Very crisp, clear and lively! That is how La Campanella should be played! It's a very nasty piece indeed. Your chromatic scale control is very good. The only (slight) room for improvement would be dynamic control, but it could just be the audio from the camcorder.
Nor did Richter bother much about wrong notes - a live performance is different to a studio recording - and interpretation creates different possibilities to mechanical replication (Walter Benjamin)? - also check out Frank Zappa on live performances and, er, wrong notes!
O.o really...I thought Richter was actually quite fussy about wrong notes...apparently when he was about to release a recording and realised there was a wrong note in a Schumann piece, he insisted that the recording must include a note containing an apology from him for playing that wrong note...
He was like that only for recordings - which were for posterity - his live performances were about something else - the passion and transcendental experience of music - so although Carnegie Hall left people in raptures, my personal view is that Richter was only angry about his 'wrong notes' because it was also being recorded....
O.o really? I thought I limited my movements only to the most necessary - it's rather awkward playing those top notes =[ but so yes, I've been trying to monitor my body movements indeed ^^
And I certainly would like to blame the monotonous tone on the camera mic, which just levels out the sound, and the Stuart piano which is a really "beautiful piece of furniture".
