  • I'm still listening to this so good

  • Great song

  • 3 people that we will haunt when they laugh. SERIOUSLY!

  • Ah, child murderers, what vivisection was designed for.

  • @IntoCaves Ha, I replied to a comment from 3 years ago. And even wierder you replied to it. X)

Excellent taste in music, sir. My hats off to you :)

  • still their best song to date if u ask me..

this is just something i've never heard before

to believe this was on their debut album is just.. sick!!

  • You might sleep but you will never dream...

  • This song always brings a tear to my eye and your video accentuates the sadness and tragedy of the events beautifully.

  • I hope that Hindley died a slow and excruciatingly painful death!

  • such a wonderful song. and beautiful art done for it. kudos

  • The sound of the light.

    Nothing

    Thank you

    Ugly and yet beautiful.

  • Only touching on the story-thank god. Horror films? Sad songs? Listen to this, nothing touches it-SAW 2? Zombies? Bedtime stories!

    Thank goodness

-We in Vancouver have two stories-Picton and Olsen: if you don't know about these stories-don't investigate but, just know Vancouver-we also have much to answer for.

  • This song is so creepy when you know what it's about...

  • @thetalentedmrman I love ignorant people, they make me feel clever.

  • I love your drawings. I want them for my walls. You are amazing!

  • I just wish we knew why!!! people aren't inherently evil and Myra or Ian had nothing in there backgrounds to lead to this horrendous act. They are as sick as one another and i agree that she will be burning in hell for what she has done. I just wish more than anything that Ian, before he dies tells the police the whereabouts of Keith Bennett. To lay the poor lad to rest and give his mother peace before she dies. I am a Christian but even for me there are acts beyond forgiveness.

  • I agree. Personally I find myself feeling guilty when trying to forgive this. How can you, I or anyone else out there forgive them. If Winnie Johnson (Keith's mum) ever forgives them that might change but until then I find it almost disrespectful towards all the families, and of course the kids. Just don't think the forgiveness is ours to give.

If it was my kids I would want no forgiveness or mercy in this world or the next, for the perpatrators.

So yes, I agree with you!

  • Your right, I thought Quantum physics was hard to understand beacuse it hurts my head when i try to understand it. This has the same effect.

  • Oh man i was gonna ask if kieth was related to Alan but didnt but cos i assumed they wernt. Just did a quick search on it and fucking started crying when i learnt he is. But i sort of feel guilty for feeling more sad that he was related to alan bennet but i shouldent should i?

  • thank fuck hindley's dead im glad she died of cancer aswell she deserve's it 4 the life's of the children her & ian took evil bitch i hope she rots in hell & ian will hopefully join her soon evil bastards

  • i dont know why people gave you a thumbs down

  • Couldn't agree more. Having said that, Brady has been trying to starve himself for years and wants to die. I'll happily pay my taxes to keep the cunt alive and lingering on as long as possible. He sees death as his escape. I hope he doesn't get it for a long time.

  • I love the lines "You may sleep, but you will never dream. Very powerful lyrics as is the norm with Mozza. That and the contradicting imagery in 'But fresh lilaced moorland fields cannot hide the stolid stench of death'. What a tribute.

  • Dark and sublime bass lines, perfect match to JM's guitar tunes....Rourke u r so talented and underrated.

    LOVE U ANDY!!!

  • a broken man has nothing to look back on with pride, nothing to look forward with hope

  • what a fucking tribute

  • What sick fuckers.

  • this song is very very hypnotic, the guitar/melody always puts me in some kind of a trance.

  • Gorgeous drawings. Thanks for putting this together!

  • Ever seen that painting "Myra"? It's Hindley's mugshot in children's handprints. Hits a nerve, don't it?

  • great tribute to familys

  • What a song. Very chilling but nevertheless

  • the only way they can find the last boy is to kill ian brady after he tells them..

they cant kill him, casue its the easy way out for him. this story is awful :(

  • Killing Ian Brady has nothing to do with being able to find that boy. The only way to find him most likely is for Brady to tell them. Killing him has nothing to do with it.

  • When I consider what happened to these innocent children, this song always makes me very sad - infact, I almost cry whenever I hear the opening few chords of Johnny's guitar!

  • "Oh Manchester, so much to answer for..."

  • Buenas, entre todas las canciones de The Smiths, esta es una que se hace resaltar mucho la forma poetica y bella de contar algo siniestro, es algo que caracteriza mucho a Morrisey. Muchas gracias por colocar el video.

  • genius, there first song together at the early stages when it was just moz and marr.

  • 'how on earth jonny marr makes that sound i dont think i'll ever know, '

he's just arpeggiating open chirds. ita not that difficult. johnny marrs strenght lies in the taste of his playing not its difficulty.

  • Remember to watch in high quality. Clear all your internet option to do so. Please view all my favorite and video dont get lost. See how much I know.Learn something new.Dont be left out like the rest. You only lived once. You will ask wow he knows that.Because I am at a different level. 20 years ahead. From today.Imagine. Thank me later.Universe Technique

  • oh man, i can't beleive that hindley and brady were such fucking retards and did that to those poor kids! if they were still alive i'd kick there fucking asses!

  • I think hindley is still alive and in broadmoor prison.

  • No, Hindley died a few years ago in hospital(thank fuck), but Ian Brady is still in prison. If I was in charge of the prison he was in, I'd cut his balls off, torture him, slash him and batter him. He's a cunt that deserves the devil ramming pokers up his arse for all eternity.

  • Amen to that. I hope the cooks in Broadmoor are spunking into his meal every dinner time.

  • I agree. I was born over 20 years after this case but it still horrifies me. I can't believe someone can be so evil.

  • What do you mean?

  • Its Ian Brady who is stil alive, Myra Hindley died a few years ago from cancer.

  • considering I live on Saddleworth what a moving song - if not the most poignant ever

the smiths will never be repeated or surpassed

  • how on earth jonny marr makes that sound i dont think i'll ever know, it gives you so many diffrent feelings, Beautiful and haunting..in the light of what the song is about..how the talents of marr and moz didnt make them superstars i dont know..but i guess Morrissey wouldnt have wanted that anyway

  • even noel gallagher says jonny marr, cant play as good as jonny marr?he's that good

  • I think Andy Rourke's bass helped a lot.. He's so underrated

  • Agree about Rourke. The Smiths were so amazing as a band. Morrissey's lyrics, Marr's guitar, Rourke on the bass and Joyce on the drums. Too bad they were so messed up outside of the music. They flamed out far too soon.

  • Beautiful and tragic drawings of the poor children. R.I.P.

  • wrote a short story based on this it really inspired me such a horrible event turned into such a great song...

  • wow i didnt fink of it gunna be like this i had to learn about the moorland murders in skwl n this song helped me whoop

  • very dark and moody what a tune typical smiths awesome ... oh manchester.....

  • LE FALTA HALGO PERO NO SE QUE

  • me 2

  • can anyone tell me why there are no videos of Morrissey singing this song? I get the feeling that he did not like to sing it in concert, for obvious reasons.

  • played it once and that was it,i think it was the first song they ever played live. didnt feel that it was appropriate to keep doingit becouse of the subject matter.

  • It was played once in Manchester I think. It wasn't played live again because; well obvious reasons like you said.

  • this song is very very hypnotic, the guitar/melody always puts me in some kind of a trance.

  • yup....

  • this is the stereotypical crap that outsiders bring on Morrissey/The Smith's music and it is completely ignorant.

Those with the least knowledge comment the most!

  • oh my god, you listen to Chumbawamba, NICKELBACK! and fucking Flogging Molly and you take a shot at The Smiths? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Thats funny:)

  • @beIshazzar Pwned him GJ.

  • 'The Smiths' created phenomenal songs, mate, and this is the only one that is very sad. The reason why it is so sad is because it's all about 'The Moors Murders'. I mean, what did you expect the song to sound like when it was about something so sad?

  • It is for me!

  • Is for me, too. :b

  • I gave you a thumbs up...because he REALLY isn't for everyone...he didn't ever intend to be...he knew who would be attracted to him and that suits him just fine!

  • wow dude ... i find this singing so incredible on this song that i never even imagined i would see a negative comment about it.... He is just so in tune and rhythem with the guitar ... can't imagine it being sang any other way

  • Very moving....great work!

  • I love Morrissey, He makes my genitals giggle

  • I've uploaded my most recent illustrated video: 'This Night Has Opened My Eyes' by The Smiths.

    youtube/watch?v=1IL0gfbuBRs

    Enjoy.

  • Evil CUNTS, the pare of em!!!!

Would have LOVED to get my HANDS on Ian brady,

I would have throttled the EVIL CUNT!!!!

  • Hmmm kyletjackson, it seems you are describing a psychopathic/sociopathic disorder as the cause of Bradys actions, absolving him of personal responsibility due to insanity. I disagree. The problem comes with the semantic definition of "Evil", not the most useful of words. In this case i use it meaning he took delight in others suffering and was both sadistic and malicious in doing so, knowing full well the consequences of his actions. Whether he felt empathy/emotion or otherwise irrelevant.

  • monk, the thing is that it makes all the difference. He knew the effect of his actions on his future IF he was caught, but he saw no fault in his actions. He wasnt immoral, you have to know right from wrong to be immoral. He was Amoral, as in he didnt have or understand morals, he saw murder as a perfectly acceptable action.

  • He was as evil as a human can ever get. He was mental but evil all the same. The familys of the victims should be allowed to get their vengence

  • It's because he was Scottish. The Scottish are the devil incarnate.

  • Listening to The Smiths brings back memories of the beautiful past. Ironically, as harsh as they seemed at the time, I would give anything to go back to 1990 when I first discovered their music.....and my first love!! This band will always be a part of me, helping me through some of the lowest times in my life.

  • Find me!! Find me nothing more. We are on a Sullen misty Moor.

How is it possible to be so terribly EVIL????!!!! Bastards. Were these SCUMBAGS for real?????

*The Monk sheds a tear for Humanity*

  • The song is from 83 actually

  • defintely the best Smiths/Morrisey songs ever, I went backwards with the Smiths and heard their debut album last and was instantly hooked!

  • this i have to say is the best song the smiths have ever made... and myra and ian should be pissing in there boots when they hear this song because they will be avvenged!!!!!

  • Good work, ignore Monkey7r he hasn't got a fucking clue what he's talking about. You've made a dark, forboding series of images that perfectly capture, and synchronise with the song.

  • What a brilliant song and well done video.

  • This song always makes me cry. I know the case od The Moords Murders very deeply. It's horrible... but still, tjis song is very, very strong and brilliant. I love The Smiths!

  • I studied the history of this track extensively, and made the video based on what I learned...

Thank you for your nice comments on my drawings: I trust you're an artistic genius :-)

  • Ha ha, touche my friend. As you rightly point out I'm in no way a genius and don't have a creative bone in my body. Easier to critique than create right? I'll rephrase " Video not my cup of tea but Bartproost has obviously put a lot of effort and thought into making a tribute to a classic track" Peace man! :)

  • Peace. At least we can agree on our taste in music... :-)

  • the moors murders were terrible.

    haunts me still.

  • I've been listening to this song in my car (from the original Smiths album, of course) for the past week straight. It's such a simplistic melody, relatively, but so hypnotic and addictive at the same time. I've got to research who "Hindley" is and all that; till I looked up the lyrics online, I thought Morrissey was singing, "Invalid wakes and invalid says, invalid wakes, invalid wakes..." Awesome song though. And great video as well:)

  • The Smiths performed this song live once only. I'd love to see it.

  • do you know what year, 84?

  • Controversial!

  • This is a superb video to my favorite Smiths song. Really wonderful work! It's such a sad song but has so much beauty. This was a very tragic story.

  • awesome

    love this song nice video

  • really cool. Although that GeoVid sign is really annoying.

  • "fresh lilac moorland fields cannot hide the stolid stench of death" Oscar Wilde lives!!

  • really good stuff excellent song moz most unique writer as well as the kinks both rule !

  • that was fantastic. Cant you get rid of the demo version label. Your work deserves better!

  • @invertedbeardthe2nd: Wish I could, but honestly don't know how! Anyone know any good (free) ppt to video converter software? And where to download?

  • If you can supply me your original ppt file, im sure I can solve it for you (or at least give it a good try)

  • Yeah was waiting for this to appear, my fave song next to shoplifters of the world.

  • One of the most moving Smiths songs, and this animation goes well, I like it. Nice one.
