I'm from Scandinavia, and I learned how to speak English fluently at a very young age as a result of watching cartoons every day on TV. I don't own a TV anymore, I prefer to read, play instruments or watch documentaries, but if it wasn't for TV in my younger days, I would've been prohibited by bad language skills. This made me think - should I or should I not allow my future kids to watch TV? I mean, I'll teach them the reality of this world anyway.
we have everything we want our ancestor don't. food, water, entertainment, infomation. i remember my grandparent have to keep the use food bottle and other stuff for recycle use without people asking them to! now? we throw countless bottle and can away everyday. we buy clothes weekly, we dine out everyday, and we change our phone, TV, computer and many other annually.

I disconnected my TV about 5 years ago, and since then, have learned so much about how our country is being run...into the ground! What's more, we've been mis-managed for over 30 years now, and 25 of that I could have known about but didn't because I was too immersed in the boob tube idiot box.
Sad part is, even though I know what's going on around me now, I have no power to do anything about it. If I ever tried, I'd softly, softly fade away.... :(

When people ask me about whether I saw such-and-such funny program, I tell them that I don't watch TV, which always causes funny looks. I'm from Scandinavia, and I learned how to speak English fluently at a very young age as a result of watching cartoons every day on TV. I don't own a TV anymore, I prefer to read, play instruments or watch documentaries, but if it wasn't for TV in my younger days, I would've been prohibited by bad language skills. This made me think - should I or should I not allow my future kids to watch TV? I mean, I'll teach them the reality of this world anyway.

tv is not the only distraction: people text the whole day and are staring into their iphones. So what? We don't own a TV and the kids don't miss it and either do we because tV is about adverstising, you hear it all the time. World series commericals cost in the millions. I think cell phones are also a big distraction- and not enough research as been done, small children use them and they are dangerous. There are many distractions. We have no cell or cordless phones in our home. REBEL

i think you can enjoy tv, as long as you brace yourself, and expect what they throw at you, from brainwashing to repetitive propaganda, but hey, tv did bring us good things...
family guy for instance, or south park, or for that fact the simpsons, good shows like heroes, flashforward, the pretender, shows that actually are based on creativity, and not public entertainment.
