@RyanBrooksby Stalin was definitely as big an asshole as it gets but after him the other Soviet leaders were pretty ok (not perfect but at least they didn't commit mass murder or have a famine occur while they were in power). While the Tsarist regimes were consistently assholes. Lenin was bed ridden throughout the 20's after he was shot. His "advisors" took advantage of him. So either they choose the anthem from an era with one huge dick (Stalin) or a bunch of average dicks (Tsardom).

@AuburnAttack21 the Soviet melody was more awesome! This sounds like a procession before a funeral. I'd guess that and because it would probably piss off alot of the communists in Russia after the Union's collapse. The Tsar was a pretty big asshole.

everyone was an asshole. ESPECIALLY LENIN. Ever heard of the Great Famine, 1921 (when he was in power) and don't even get me started on Stalin or Zhukov "how many men can I throw at the enemy this time?"

Why didn't Russia make their new anthem set to this melody? Was it because the Soviet melody was freaking awesome?

(Only the Soviet melody could be any more awesome than this one.)
