What gave her that "special" edge, and caused her to become the icon that she now is was that she was so generous with her emotions. She never acted out there... it was always authentic. It's not easy, if you think about it, to allow yourself to be that sensitive and emotional in front of so many people, but she NEVER held it back. And it allowed the audience to feel it right along with her, which was an enormous gift.
