A good thing to do while you're speaking to someone is focus on the color of their eyes, and actually take notice of the color. This will help you to maintain eye contact. Also, form a geometric, downward-pointing triangle from both of the person's eyes down to their nose, and focus your gaze in this general area. This comes off as a "friendly" gaze. If you want to come off as "business-like," center your focus to the space between their eyes up on their forehead. Hope that helps. =)
