  • I liked this review, you don't go too deep on how the game works mechanically and talk more about your feelings in your sessions. The driving part didn't disturb me (I was just hearing). Hope to see another one! :)

  • Not safe, no matter how good a driver you think you are.

  • Just wanted to point out that when Tom Vasel did it for his top 100 (40-31) video it only received 1 dislike. And what's more the camera wasn't in front of him yet he insisted on periodically looking at the camera. And finally couldn't one assume he had his kids in the car. Funny how that works.

  • @kjell1979 it was a part of Tom's game for changing scenes for every episode, so that worked. But this was just ones. I bet, if he starts to film every video in a car, then even Tom will get a lot of dislikes. It feels uncomfortable to watch how someone drives and gets distracted by the camera.

  • @wr00t Two things. First, this was Scott's first review so you can't assume the car will be the venue each time (especially now). Second, Scott used a dash camera which is a little more safe than what Tom did where the passenger was holding the camera where he had to turn his head 90 degrees to face the camera while the car was moving likely while he had at least one child in the car! I just find it funny that the safety patrol isn't killing Tom over this like they're doing with Scott.

  • Like everybody said- nothing bad with the review itself, aside from driving. Distracting, pointless, adds too much background noise and doesnt provide anything worthwhile in return. Good thing you tried experimenting, but this one fails. Do your next review in a normal room and show more of the game instead.

  • This might work better as a podcast, because it's mostly spoken word.

  • Yeah, sorry. I *love love love* the dice tower, but this doesn't work.. The reviewer himself is fine. But the driving is distracting and weird and you don't show the game enough. I watch these to learn about games, potential game purchases, learn rules - none of these being improved by this format. This just feels cheap like you couldn't find time to do it properly. Sorry.

  • Put the camera on the game...I don't want to see you driving.

  • Don't drive distracted. You endanger others for no benefit to anyone except the gods of gimmickry.

  • i just wish i saw more of the game then him driving

  • I completely agree with the other posts. The whole "driving while reviewing" is just a gimmick that doesn't add anything. It was fun when Tom did it with his top 100 list (especially the Heroscape tournament video), but those were cut up with other actions. Also, this review came off as a little verbose. Seemed like it could have been condensed down a bit, since you went over the same topics a few times. But I guess that is what happens when you're just talking while filming. Good start though!

  • Nice and nuanced review. Very informative!

  • Thanks for the comments/critique. There's much room for improvement here, and I'm looking forward to developing a unique feel for these drive-by's. I assure you all that I can talk and drive at the same time... just ask my wife.

Thanks again to Tom and Eric for inviting me to be part of the Dice Tower family.

  • I don't mean to be overly critical, but does this review need to be a "video" review at all? The content seemed fine but not necessarily suited to the format. Also I'm afraid that if these type of reviews keep getting produced one of them will eventually end in an accident.

  • if i make a video of gears of war in Spanish can it be for dicetower? sorry my english is really bad

  • I haven't yet played this game but I have seen it in action. Looks great and I agree completely about the components, they're excellent. Enjoyed the review!

  • I don't like the driving while reviewing a board game. It adds nothing and at some points it rather distracts me. (and also you, like the tactical strategy at 5:42 )

  • the AI of Gears of War, is muuuuuch better than Ravenloft system.

When i play ravenloft, i know where the monsters are, and what they are going to do, and i play accordingly!

In GOW , there is definitely more surprise in each AI phase!

  • ... you never know which Locust will activate... I think it makes for more surprises then D&D... in my opinion...

  • I actually like the AI in this game better then the one in the D&D adventure system... in D&D most of the monster react the same... depending how far they are from a hero, they will move one tile closer or move adjacent and attack... plus... you know which monster will activate way before you make a move... in GoW monsters have 4 different AI cards... they may be hdaling, charging the closest CoG or maybe the weakest one... or maybe spawn more re-enforcement... plus...

  • Finally a good review on this board game from this channel.

    well done . !

  • The key cover things are a great idea assuming you don't want to paint the figures. Not sure I like the reviewing while driving, I found I kept getting distracted from what you were saying.
