  • Ha! All these people saying shit and she pulls off the performance of the year and lands an Oscar nomination! Rooney will go down in history as the one and only Lisbeth Salander. Amazing job. Larson would be proud.

  • I saw the swedish version of Girl with the dragon tattoo and it was hotttt. looking foward to seeing the american version.

  • free online movies at leakedmovies . biz

  • why don´t you all just watch the movie and then you can it´s bad or not...

  • Well i'm an american and i'm a huge fan of foreign films but i am going to see this film as well. It's not a competition and it's not like all american remakes are garbage look ate Let Me In and the Departed those were remakes and they are great.

  • They can't be bothered to read subtitles so they remake an amazing film. Noomi is the only Salander!

  • @loveRussBrand You couldn't be more wrong. Noomi was great, but Rooney WAS Lisbeth. Plus, it isn't a remake. It's a separate adaptation.

  • Typical americans to do a remake of an already awesome movie...it feels pretty lame to here the actors speak english and not swedish, btw why did they name the movie The girl wit the dragon tattoo? original title Män som hatar kvinnor means in english "Men who hates women".

  • I expect will be bloodier and with a lot of almost naked girls. that sells. But I hope out there, there are many with brain and will watch the swedish version though is "international and not english" and not from any "sucessful" director.

  • @Lakkauser That sells to dimwitted Americans, which is why I am NOT looking forward to this version. Lisbeth fucked the guy once in the movie, but they are going to porytayu his sexual relevancy as much more than it originally was to satisfy al;l the young oricks who ain't getting any. I am American I have the Swedish version of all three movies, I can read subtitles!

  • I wish Ellen Page would have gotten the role, but Natalie Portman would make the movie AMAZING! Just because of how well Natalie can make her movie roles so diverse. Plus, there really isn't a movie she has acted in that was rated very poorly.

  • I wish ellen page got the role!!

  • Scarlett Johansson to play Lisbeth Salander getting raped would have been double-rape of Lisbeth.

As much as I like Scarlett, but there´s NO WAY IN HELL.

  • I am an serious fan of the books and movies I don't think this girl has it in her to play the role of lisbeth salander like Noomi Rapace did.... And as for the director he doesnt exactly have the dismal look upon life like swedish do the live in dismal. I know I am swedish. as for the movies that David fincher has notched on his belt like Fight club, Social Network, and benjamin button, hes no where near read for a movie like this... its not his repertoire.

  • @hellonearth069 You forgot Seven.

  • @Elfstone01 yeah that was a pretty good movie but I was just making a point and it slipped my mind, thanks though....

  • No no no. Fuck this, you cant remake it. It will suck compared to the Swedish one, I promise.

  • America sucks.

  • Awww you people are just sad arguing over a film, get over it

  • hahaha! suck it ellen page!

    ...wait

  • i can't wait til she is raped and abused on screen

  • She's hot

  • Det kommer bara bli skit av den där filmen....

  • @TheUnitedfreakk håller med dig, jävla pengarkåta amerikanare...

  • I wish Rooney Mara the best of luck. Noomi's work was unreal it was so good, so anyone re-doing the character has their work cut out for them. Personally, I laughed at Scarlotte being mentioned for this, as she's not nearly good enough to play Lisbeth. Natalie Portman's "exhaustion" excuse was laughable as well. She knew she couldn't pull anything close to Noomi's performance. Personally, I was hoping for Ellen Page. Right look, and maybe the most talented actress in the US. Good luck RM.

  • @saikotick well, it's very ignorant to say that we're all retarded...

  • she looks too "good" if you know what i mean. noomi is less in a way conventionally attractive, and that what made the film a bit more real. but a good actress is a good actress. we'll see if she is what we hope her to be.

  • Everyone... quit bitching about her saying that she is going to be horrible and nowhere close to Noomi Rapace... You haven't even seen her perform as Lisbeth Yet.

Plus, David Fincher is an amazing director, and I'm sure that he'll make the movie great. Dont you remember The Social Network?? Jesse Eisenberg wasn't the greatest actor before then, and after working in Fincher's movie, he got an oscar nomination.

Dont worry about Rooney. She'll do fine.

    Worry about Daniel Craig.

  • @BJprocom i voted it up for the daniel craig bit but micheal nyqvist wasnt that good anyway

  • You are all retarded. She may not be better than Noomi but if she at least does a good job it's all worth it. I mean Fincher is the director after all ;)

  • This girl is the "GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO"? no thanks, i'll stick with the original not some horrible actress from nightmare on elm street & social network. BLAH!

  • she will not succeed in being as great as Noomi..

it will be interesting to see how she does, though... but i just dont think she will be as great as playing Lisbeth Salander..

of course.....that is just my opinion..

  • I dont think anyone can beat nomi she is lisbeth

  • @Timbear3000 How could no one in the US want to do a film based on a best selling novel? If everyone turned down the Twilight and Harry Potter film projects we wouldn't have something so popular yet interesting to enjoy, I did see bits and pieces of the original film but I have a strong belief that the remake will be as good as the first one was. Usually it's the horror remakes that crash and burn at the box office but then again the remake of Lord of the Flies didn't follow the book at all

  • thx

  • I think it's a great idea that the film is gonna be remade because it's not fair to have a book that's sold worldwide and a film that's based on it made into a foreign film. The remake is supposed to be a film for the US to enjoy plus it's gonna be released worldwide. You can find pics of Rooney's Lisbeth Salnder look in Feburary's issue of W. magazine just give her a chance don't judge someone just they're staring in a remake

  • @TheNextAvrilLavigne Problem is many Americans have seen the Swedish version of the films. They are also on DVD, and on Demand and anyplace you can get a the DVD. The Swedish version was very big success/ I didn't want them to do a remake. One, no need. 2. It was awesome the way they were, 3 the films aren't even old. I am just going to see the US version to laugh at it.

  • @TheNextAvrilLavigne "not fair"? IT IS PERFECTLY FAIR SEEING AS THOUGH THEY DID AN AWESOME JOB OF IT AND IT FOLLOWED THE BOOK WELL AND THE BOOK IS FOREIGN TOO THANKYOU VERY MUCH!!!!!

  • wtf is rooney mara/??? she is a hot slut, but a nobody in cinema

  • The original Swedish version is only 2 years old. Why Hollywood feel the need to remake everything is of pure ego and greed. And it's not like these remakes share the same artistic value as the original too. Look at 'Let the Right One In' and 'Rec'. Perfect examples. I hope this movie bombs.

  • @clawbytes Plus I don't think Hollywood will understand the Swedish-ness of it, and that is important. Plus the rape seen in the original was really intense. Hollywood, like to romanticize real evil that happens in the world. I wasn't impress with the US trailer.

  • What...the..Fuck...HOLLYWOOD AMERICA... seriously? Rooney Mara? we all know this version's gonna suck...the rest of the world does things better than we do... especially when it comes to movies...i really hope its not a complete train wreck....sheesh

  • Its too bad there would not be more appreciation for the originals in America, but I will go see the remake when it hits, all the same. Daniel Craig is not a bad actor, same for Robyn Wright-Penn. I figure they will put out the effort to this right.

  • For everyone getting butthurt about this movie, first of all David Fincher is at the helm. Fincher is a pretty good director, with titles like Zodiac, Fight Club, Social Network, and Benjamin Button. Second, both films are based off a book. Most praise should be reserved for the book, both films are supported on its shoulders. Third, all of the comments reek with "I was into it before it was popular" self-boasting.

  • @Doublicon Fincher is great ,the problem is rooney mara, wtf is her??? she is a nobody, with only 2 famous movies in her career, social network and freddy krueger remake, she is a hot slut but a nobody in cinema

  • The girls at clevver movies annoy me. They always seem stupid and fake.

  • What the hell is wrong with these people!? The original films are some of my favourite and I cannot describe how angry I was when I heard America was going to remake (and undoubtedly ruin) them. What's wrong with the originals?? Is it because the plot line is too complicated for the average American to understand? Or is Hollywood feeling bitter because no money from the original was going into their pockets? She will never beat Noomi Rapace as the original Lisbeth, I'm boycotting this film.

  • @SpangledAlice What's wrong with the originals is that Hollywood isn't being credited for it. Expect the remake to be shot in the horror style with around the corner scares.

  • Why does America always try to up every succesful movie from other countries? Not even movies, but tvshows like Being Human and Forbrydelsen from England and Denmark respectively, are converted to American versions, because some movie director somewhere is bored, or thinks its only american movies that are worth anything. Thats.. laughable. COME on, be original for once.

  • @TheOuwl Dude, the film is being directed by David Fincher. Show him some respect, his versions might actually be even better than the original films!

  • Lets hope the hollywood remake is close to being as good as the original.

  • she won´t make it as lisbeth salander.... she is too cute

  • Erica Albright's a bitch. You think that's because her family changed their name from Albrecht or do you think it's because all BU girls are bitches? For the record she may look like a 34C, but she's getting all kinds of help from our friends at Victoria's Secret. She's a 34B, as in barely anything there. False advertising.

This just in, Mark Zuckerberg was found naked in his room handcuffed to his bed with a large dildo up his ass and "I'm an total asshole" tattooed on his chest.

  • YEAH!! Go Rooney!!

  • The better not FUCK IT UP, although they probs will...

Noomi was the best, but im willing to give Rooney a chance..

  • Hope it flops. SHould have gotten Noomi. She speaks english. This is going to suck bigtime. Better off with Rosie O'Donnel.

  • Noomi is the real Lisbeth <3

  • People, remember that the Swedish movie is based on a book, and as far as i am concerned the remakes are a wonderful idea(book-wise) only because this means that we will see another idea of the book. let's not limit ourselves and call each other names or put nations down, we are wonderful!

also comments are comments, don't let them ruin your day, everybody has an opinion even me.

  • Movie is going to be directed by David Fincher and the score will be composed by Trent Reznor, basically my favorite director and artist! This looks brilliant, looking forward to it! Svenskar, lägg ner!

  • i think that the swedish films are un touchable but i am still looking forward to the us ones but natalie portmen was my pick when i first heard of the making or thies films

  • Why the superiority complex? People are saying horrible things about Americans but it seems the arrogant attitude is coming from the name callers. Let the people who are excited about it be excited. If you like the other ones they will still be there for you to enjoy. You're not superior because you liked the Swedish version. Why is it so threatening that David Fincher is making his own version? Seriously.

  • I am so sure Hollywood will ef up this version!

  • solve a murder mystery?????

Does this doll know what she's talking about.

If Rooney Mara thinks so as well, it's for sure a capital disaster.

Hollywood ain't particular that good in deepening out the psychological and sociological background of there characters of there films....

  • Rooney mara is hideous. We need someone with edge, but a bit less like the book version of the girl, and more fun. Remember most people have never read the books, and would hate them if they did. The story is good, but the characters are silly. They need changing.

  • @lollipopfop Wow, hideous? Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but hideous? Really? Ever heard of subtle beauty?

  • I think I would have vomited instantly if scarlett johansson got the role, I mean seriously she looks nothing at all like lisbeth salander! I wouldn't have minded Natalie portman, I think she's edgy enough to pull it off but it's probably the best choice for them to go with a relatively unknown for it. Though Noomi Rapace will always be my Lisbeth Salander, she was just so perfect that I doubt anyone will compare

  • This is going to be PAINFUL. This chick is being competly miscast. As usual the US version of a good film is going to be a big disappoitment. To my ignnorant kassi420, a good novel makes a good film if you stick to the story and the character, and this chick is all wrong

  • First of all this it's not based on a Swedish film. It's based on a Swedish Novel by the late Stieg Larsson.

Secondly the correct title of the 1st book is called 'Men Who Hate Women' not 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'

And Last but not least it's directed by David Fincher. I'm sure he'll do it justice. Hope he stays true to the book and not the movies.

  • @kassi420 Question, does David Fincher understand the Swedish-ness? Most Americans think all courtries in the world are like them? when they are not. If he does not get the Swedish-ness cross, it not going to be a very good film.

  • David Flincher is a great director, but no matter how good this movie is there is only one Lisbeth Salander and her name is Noomi Rapace.

  • i'd fuck rooney, but i won't be seeing this

  • It's bad enough that Fincher is trying to remake this brilliant film but casting the girl he's obviously banging is just gross. I hope this movie sinks.

  • Funny back in 2008, many people were outraged at the castings of Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvuist... saying that the actors are nothing like the characters and Noomi was too tall for Lisbeth (like the directors are gonna find a talented elf to play) Later, when it was released in 2009, they become beloved internationally (esp. Noomi). And now the people are reacting the same way towards the American version. Just wait until December. We'll see. I pray that Fincher will not disappoint us.

  • @LoraineMillie omg you remind me of the nolan fanatics responding to ppl about how ledger was unexpected, so somehow that makes hathaway a good choice too. it doesn't matter about the previous actors, it's all about if the new ones can interpret it in their own way. i'll praise him when I see it AND like it.

  • LOL, fucking Hollywood.

  • aah i just love the way you Youtubers use the F word so loosely!!

  • Rooney Mara has a tough act to follow with Noomi Rapace's Lisbeth. Her acting as Lisbeth is phenomenal!!

  • who fucking cares if its a copy or what, no one is gonna die, im glad im watching another point of view and direction of a movie that i love, if its ruined ill go on with my live.

  • im sorry, but i don't think that this girl has any resemblance to Lisbeth Salander.

her features are too soft and fragile, and she hardly looks like someone who could possibly be a threat. Noomi Rapace has the beautiful heart shaped face, the death glare enough to strike fear into someones heart, and went all out to get a built body and piercings. there was no sugar coating,Rapace was a living Salander in action.i highly doubt that Mara will do justice to Noomi's already perfect Lisbeth

  • @killmekissme1988 You dont actually believe that Noomi really looks like that do you? you dont think the producers were just off on a walk when "my god! toni, look at that girl! that is lisbeth in the flesh its almost as if steig was writing about her!" get a life you tard. its a bit of make up.

  • i wonder how many people are going to watch it. i mean its already been done.

  • no one except kristen stewart for this role... total natural

  • @MMAKICKS the role is abit too mature for her. in my opinion.

  • I wish the US would quit watering down good foreign movies and butchering them to hell!!!

The original is best, read the subtitles, kinda like Let the right one in, the original is SOOO much better!

  • She doesn't look like she's ready to be raped and abused on screen.

  • @eizhowa LOL, I completely agree.

  • @eizhowa if she were ready, would it still be rape? XD

  • @eizhowa lol, or get back by shoving a horse sized dildo up his arse and tattooing his chest :)

  • I hope this remake won't be childish ,social network looks like a movie for nerds hahahaha

  • Ronney mara is a nobody

  • It's not an americanized remake, damn it, it's an English language adaptation of the novel but it's still set in Sweden.

  • @Nomoredrama2000 how do you know???

  • I just cant see anyone playing the role of lisbeth but Nomi Rapace. To me she is Lisbeth Salander!

This actress has big shoes to fill because anyone who saw the swedish version will 4 sure compare. Nomi killed that role but I am intrigued to see what comes out of this movie with this actress.

I just cant imagine this film being as good or better...

  • @ayieshastewart yeah well david fincher is one hell of a director so i think it'll be fine. not to mention they do have a decent cast

  • @ayieshastewart when does this movie come out,

  • @robbo1911 christmas time

  • @ayieshastewart davind finchers directing so theres a good chance

  • @ayieshastewart The fact of the matter is this: Män Som Hatar Kvinnor is a Swedish story. An American Adaptation won't be in the original language, and culturally won't represent Sweden accurately. I dunno... I almost don't even want to SEE the American version... Noomi was fantastic, and absolutely captured Lisbeth on film. I agree.

  • @ayieshastewart if you're such a fan, you might want to start spelling noomi rapace correctly. ;)

  • Im kinda excited, yet kinda dissapointed that America is deciding to create a remake for the swedish movie. Im excited, because I am a huge fan of the book, and the director that is going to be directing it. Loved Fight Club, and Benjamin Button, and all of his movies, but Im dissapointed because America is making an adaption of it, when the swedish version was just fine to begin with.

  • It's an ADAPTATION, NOT a remake! You see movies always adapting film versions of William Shakespeare's work so how is this any different?

David Fincher is directing and people are always skeptical but once the trailer is released, people will be excited. It's always like that so be open minded.

  • I think Rooney Mara will do good because she looks like they could transform her into Lisbeth and she was up against some big names so shes got to be talented to get the role over them

  • ellen page would of been sooo much better

  • @SuperKare123 yeah, but she already did hard candy so we already know she's a certified badass. anyways, she was much scarier than lisbeth.. *shudders @ flashbacks of hard candy*

  • i always pictured Stephanie Leonidas as Lisbeth for some reason, this girl looks too fragile

  • @drunkballerina89 I agree, although its good that a lesser known actress is playing the part which i think is vital to play such a unique character she seems too vulnerable and child like.

  • @drunkballerina89

shes suposed to be 'fragile' other characters in the book use this phrase when worriying about her welfare as she is depicted as a vulnerable girl

  • she's going to be amazing!!

  • I've read the first and second book of the trilogy so far and loved them. Watched the first film with eager anticipation and was very, very disappointed!! I personally can't wait for the Hollywood remake.

  • oh god rooney mara is a terrible ''actress''. seen all her movies and she's awful. she was boring in nightmare on elm street, plus she's not pretty. she's plain.

  • @BrightEyedBurglar

it doesnt matter that shes not pretty, in fact the book describes her as quite repelling as she isnt suposed to be pretty at all, and shouldnt judge her we havent seen what she'll be like, all i hope for is that the film is nearly as good as the book, but im doubtful

  • @Beebzz93 i brought up her looks cuz she doesnt even have that to back up with. she's a horrible actor and very average looking. ive seen her other movies she's awful

  • What the hell. Why can't american movie studios write their own material? ugh.

  • Rooney Mara only got in because of nepotism.

  • it feels like the u.s. is only remaking this for people too lazy to read subtitles.... the swedish version is amazing, and i highly doubt that the american remake will live up to it.

  • If they are gonna Americanize the film , why the hell are they filming in Sweden ?

  • @rlegear19 Yeah, it's weird

  • What;s the point of making an american version of a perfectly good film??

make your own goddamn movies, hollywood, and stop tampering with other people's work!!! :@

  • The original was boring as hell... as european i can't stand european cinema :(

  • I feel sorry for the Swiss, Hollywood is taking their movies and ideas. =(

  • @H0tkebab we aren´t Swiss, we´re Swedes XD

  • @lolloo92

Oh crap, please forgive my ignorance.

Swedes, I'll remember that for sure. =D

  • @H0tkebab We are NOT Swiss, we are SWEDISH.

  • Seen the swedish version and it was good so hopefully this one will

  • WTF?? can't sweden get copy rights for their films of what??

Hollywood make your own damn movies please and stop trying to remake swedish movies please!!

  • @reddexred the second and third sweish film were shit, the first one wasn't great, the girl noomi rapace was a very good salander though

  • @reddexred As if it's a remake- it's another adaptation of the novel(s).

And David Fincher can do what ever he likes.

  • @eyeworks88

    Ex-frickin-catly

It's like The Coen Brothers with True Grit. Just adapting the book again.

I can't freakin wait to see it. Love Rooney Mara and David Fincher.

Can't wait to see The Social Network here in New Zealand next week

  • @reddexred Except that it's not a remake. It's a different adaptation of the same novel. You wouldn't call the Lord of the Rings films a remake of the 1970's cartoons, would you?

  • @reddexred Haha. the heck. The reason why Hollywood can make this film is because they're making the movie off of the BOOK and not the swedish adaptation. So this movie isn't a fucking remake, its an adaptation you fuck tard.

  • @sq3333sq yeah...i get adaptations but why only already known Swedish ones.....anyway all am saying is that Hollywood needs variety!

  • @reddexred as well as a lot of other remakes from european originals. guess they haven't left any ideas for own productions

  • @reddexred Don't give me any crap about you using your Swedish imagination to make the story or the characters, because they are totally stolen from the book, there has been no creative voice in Sweden since Christian Anderson wrote those kids stories. If he is even Swedish. Oh well. Hes one of those sort of German countries that make cookoo clocks. Now shut up and jump in your sauna.

  • @reddexred this isn't a remake

david fincher is making his own interpretation of the books.

  • @musicforeverx I did think the plot of the original might be a bit too complicated for Americans to understand so this doesn't surprise me

  • @SpangledAlice There's nothing complicated about the plot of the Girl with the Dragon tattoo at all.

  • @Anth150 Well it's a bit morecomplex than most of the useless stuff crapped out of Hollywood these days

  • @reddexred Hollywood likely paid to be able to make it, and why not? By allowing hollywood to do remakes, the original movies get more publicity as well.

  • @reddexred it's based off a book, nothing to do with the swedish movie, I feel, and there are always plenty adaptations of books here and there anyway. For example, Jane Eyre's been done several times but each film presented each director's own perspective of the novel. Same goes for the Millennium series. Plus, the swedish version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo didn't do anything close to justice to Larsson's novels anyway so I'm hoping the american version would do a better adaptation.

  • ITs with vampires?

  • The original was briliant, even though it was in Swedish. Why mess with it?

  • It is nice to see some lesser known actors and actresses get good parts. I am particularly bothered when I see big name actors get parts where they have to speak in a Southern accent, which very few can do well. I'm thinking, why don't they just hire a good actor who is from the South so they will get a genuine Southern accent?

  • @oilhammer04 Yeah, I admit it is a bit silly when they hire actors who aren't from the South to put on fake Southern accents. As a New Englander, I get a bit annoyed with fake Boston accents myself.

  • @oilhammer04 Shouldnt it be a swedish accent?

  • @mrbunmuzzle, I was speaking in general of movies not this particular one.

  • @oilhammer04 Seemed like the right thing to do. An A-list actress I think would "cheapen" the effect of the Hollywood version of this movie. Noomi Rapace is relatively unheard of (at least in America) and I think it made the Swedish movies all the more interesting and believable.

  • I can't wait to watch it! But, this is old news. xD
