I am KB9DAK, Thomas Moore from Havana, IL and I have that contact in my log but I don't hear myself on your rig. I was curious about what I sounded like. I am running a Kenwood TS-2000 into a Ameritron ALS-1300 and with a Cushcraft A3S w/40 meter add on. Maybe I had no propagation to your QTH.
@bilbo1961 I was just setting up an old Kenwood TS-120 rig at the time and could hear the Vegas station, but not you in Illinois. I figured that had to do with the Vegas station possibly having a directional beam pointed at you and the same applied for the Chicago station. I was also testing an inverted V homemade DiPole so figured that might have something to do with it.
