  • ok i either wana get the half stack.of ths or the egnator tweaker half stack which is $650 american dollars. what should i get?

  • got this one 2 months ago, and Im in love with its sound, very good deal for the buck

  • This amp and a TS and you are ready to rock

  • Does this head hace an effect loop???

  • @PureDevilAllenAngel No,its a straight up crunch machine. Check the new jca22 modell if you want loop. I will buy this one.

  • i love the look of that guitar, ill see if Epiphone sells a black and gold guitar and buy it then upgrade internal wires and pots. Gibson = overprice

  • @chesspro22k Its a les paul custom.

  • what guitar is he playing?

  • @chesspro22k Its a Gibson telephone caster.

  • Comment removed

  • Loud enough to gig with? At mic'd venues?

  • @theoffspringrox77 I would imagine so, tube watts are way louder than solid state watts.

  • I didn't even know Michael J Fox could really play guitar! lol

  • @Mix7Studio Michael J Fox can actually play guitar in real life. His favourite is a Les Paul.

  • @Melonos True, but he has a sticarto picking style like jack white lol.... too soon?

  • set yer tone leave it and gofer it.

  • I am so glad I could find a video on this Jet City head with some quality audio.

    Thanks

  • whats this amp like for metal?

  • The 50w version is a killer....

  • @LemoNxWedgE If you consider his Panama ripoff to be "heavy metal".

  • He's clearly got pedals in front of it. That's not how you demo an amp...

  • I like this amp, but I've read that it doesn't have a lot of clean head room (which I need) does anyone know of an amp with good tone that could offer some good clean head room?

  • How does this compare to the Handsome Devil by Blackheart?

  • Anyone think this guy looks like Marty McFly?

Not Michael J. Fox. Marty McFly. 'Cause of the guitar.

  • My Jca20h is weird instead of having two toggles and a light it has two switches and in the on and off switch it has the blue light in it, similar to Marshall, but Marshall has red light in the switch; any ideas as to why this is and why my Jca head is different then the ones I have seen?

  • @dieandgoaway The new ones are coming this way. It's now the standard of all JCA amps

  • @SeeYouEnTea666 I seen reviews that say the little blue light goes out after a while, but the amp keeps working fine. I've had the combo for over a year and mines still working, guess I'm lucky....

  • how well does it work with pedals?

  • is this loud enough for a gig?

  • @manbearpig937 i gig with it every weekend and have never turned the volume past 4 or 5

  • @jonchristianify what kind of cab do you play through?

  • I just love this guys demos.

  • @WapServices

So what? He used an Epiphone. Did it make the amp sound bad? Did it make him play badly? Did it cause you to not watch the review?

What if he would have used a MIM Strat, or a Schecter, or an Agile? All good guitars. What then?

Would that have stopped you from making your brain dead comment?

  • @IPushHard I don't think he meant as a bad thing, but to point out to someone that you don't need a gibson to have a good tone.

  • @metalpride15 toko musica rock pop y uso overdrive jeje ^^ alguna sugerencia ?? busco uno no demasiado caro

  • Could this little guy be heard over a drummer?

  • @SpankieDublin33 I'm guessing yes, I have an Egnater Tweaker 15 head with 2 single 12 cabs which I run as a full stack, it can EASILY be played with a drummer. This is 5 watts more, so a tiny bit louder again.

  • @GibsonTick Awesome. Thanks.

  • This AMP costs 400$ with cabinet and is Chinese. Chinese are poor, because the realization of them is very low. Tubes and other parts are low quality and it play a short time. Almost always those AMPs need modifications and service (like brand new Chinese guitars).

One of my friend had Chinese Randall (he sold that crap). 3 months and tubes were dead. His brother has an old English Marshall. 10 years and tubes still work. Both are playing in bands.

  • @SnoWho0 sorry but 10 years without changing tubes ? ... bullsh*cought*

  • @SnoWho0 Im afraid no tubes last 10 years, especially in something that is getting moved around. So no...Also I've had the 20 watt jet city combo for about a year and a half now and it still plays like new. So it lasted longer then your "friends" Chinese Randall.

  • That was a good review of this amp. I do think that anytime an amp like this is reviewed a clip with it being pushed by a tubescreamer or similar is mandatory.

  • @Noneedforaname97 I bet you would, especially if you run it with a 4 x 12 cab. Wattage is a little overrated. Every time you double the wattage you only increase the volume by 3 dB, hence a 100 watt amp is only 3 dB louder than a 50 watt amp. A 100 watt amp is twice as loud as a 10 watt amp, not ten times louder. U should be able to cut through the mix without cranking all the way to 10 unless you have an extremely thunderous drummer.

  • its good to use it in stage ?? (soy mexicano asi que disculpen si escribi mal algo)

  • Thanks for the video. I just bought one of the units myself about a month ago and your video helped me make the decision. I plan to record something with it soon and will post it on my channel. Keep up the good work.

  • duude! what settings are you using for those cleans???? when i try and get cleans on mine, it just gets muddy

  • Is this little stack pretty loud to just play at home with and to record with ?

  • BEST AMP EVER

  • Is that a dry tone?

  • @y2kgtp pretty dry, yes

  • how does this amp take pedals? mainly med gain overdrive pedals

  • @NeutralSnap It takes pedals VERY well....

  • @TrippyTheShroom the cleans are nice, but theres not a lot of headroom

  • I don't honestly care whether or not this amp was made in China or not, it sounds awesome. why make a huge fuss over whether a Chinese man's hand touches it or an American man's. And btw, when they say "handmade' they mean that the circuit board is constructed by hand, and honestly i would rather have a machine build the circuit board than a person. the rest is constructed by a worker.

  • @that1stupidkid613 lol trust me you would not. machines are not as specific as people and the guys that get payed for it love to do it and are experts.

  • Is good in low gain ?

  • Does this amp have good cleans? I know this little f*ck can blow your mind with distortions, but can it do good cleans too?

  • Just getting into amps, wondering if I could play this through a marshall 120 watt cab? does that work? If the amp head is only 20 w?

  • @creepinoutsara i use mine with a peavey 4x12 cab rated at 200watts.. as long as the cab is rated for 16ohms.

  • I wonder what kind of cab is under that sheet....

  • @mark3777 PROBABLY a Mesa cab....but thats just an assumption....

but dont let that fool you, this amp can pretty much nail anything on the head when it comes to distortion...AND is a beast with pedals...

  • @TrippyTheShroom Oh no, I'm really considering buying this amp. I've just heard some people say the cab isn't that great. It's more suspicious when even jet city doesn't show a cab when demoing the amp.

  • @mark3777 WELL...I've heard alot of people complain about the Jet City cabs, thats why im pairing my Jet City (whenever i buy it) with a different cab, im just gonna buy the head

  • this head is great. it is so versatile. i can go from clean to slight overdrive to a metal tone with the amp with max gain on top of an overdrive pedal

  • does this amp's distortion sound clean up well with the guitar's volume knob?

  • @bcsguitar22 Yes, it does. I have the combo but I assume they react the same way.

  • @Noneedforaname97

yeah without a doubt you wouldn't even need to crank it to 10 maybe 6 max and yes it is tube

  • @Noneedforaname97

yeah without a doubt you wouldn't even need to crank it to 10 maybe 6 max

  • Does that amp handle fuzz pedals well? (particularly big muff pi)

  • I wish that guitar world would for once actually do an actual review. I mean, of course you can just listen and judge for yourself and decide- but its nice to hear some actual user feedback from somebody who's there and playing it. Don't get me wrong, I like watching these videos and hearing what a product is all about, but it would be nice if Paul didn't just read the ad slogan provided by the manufacturer. Tell me what's good AND what's not so good.

  • @xipepon - I dont understand what a "NACO-dirty-Mex-grupero-wet back" is doing leaving comments in a Rock'n Roll clip...go back to your "la mujer no tiene dueño" crap you dirty scumbag.

  • @xipepon Dude i hope you die, seriously, and you big whore mother too

  • is it loud enough for a school gym type gig?

  • @700Xiphos I've played a 15watt solid state amp in my school gym. A 20 watt tube amp will do much more, like small club.

  • @ CMSpida, I rather see him playing through a regular generic EPIPHONE than a $5000 Jimmy Page Gibson Les Paul.

That's the point in demonstrating the possibilities even with a generic guitar to us regular/average guitar players

  • @StudioSonico its a epiphone les paul custom, 1st watch, try to accumulate some knowledge or something before talking shit

  • @StudioSonico its an epiphone da

  • This is the first time I get a head I still don't have a cab. So can you connect a cab and head with a regular guitar cable?

  • @dieandgoaway

    NOOOOOOO

Use a speaker cable, not an instrument cable

  • f5 has failed me again...

  • new on ebay right now..$199

  • @WapServices Yup, & the amp costs like $240.

  • does it have fx loop?

  • @thiagomassara

No but the JCA 22H has one and a clean channel. I don't know if it is out yet though.

  • @flyhi94 I am pretty sure that the JCA22H doesn't have a clean channel. It has an "overdrive" channel that delivers more gain than this head does. But the cleans will be the same as the JCA20H. The two channels on the 22H are "crunch" and "overdrive" and the 22H will have FIVE 12AX7s. Pretty beastly...

  • Hey stupid question..Can you use an amp head without a cabinet?

going to college soon don't really want to fork out $500+ on a head+cabinet..

  • @LiquidInertia No you cant. An amp needs a 'load", so a cabinet is required.

  • @LiquidInertia

    Just buy a combo amp.

  • @stratd00d Yeah I'm decided to get the blackstar ht-5.

  • Cool sound.. Think ill buy one!! :)))

  • you'd think that someone who is the chief editor for guitar world wold probably have something better than an epiphone

  • @CMSpida I think the point here is to let those with a bit less coin to blow on gear can really sound great despite your disapproval. ex. the Frankenstein guitar that became famous was as a result of the skill of the artist rather than the cost of the equipment. To look at it you may not even want to touch it. Yet because of it's equipment deficiencies it allowed the artist to create a sound that to this day cannot be 100% recreated... Just a thought! Enjoy it's about the music! ! !

  • Can I plug this to any kind of cab?

  • i want a cheap head that is decent and can do high gain. How is this amp for metal?

  • @Daemonfury1 Hi There. I bought a Bugera 6260 a half year ago. It's 120 watts of pure valve power. I think they have based it on a Peavey 5150 and therefor it's middlename is Metal. It's a real monster ! I've paid like 300 Euro's because it was used, but a new one will cost about 550-600 euro's. If you need dollar prices you need to calculate for yourself. It's the best amp this money can buy.

  • @Daemonfury1 I recently purchased this amp, and while it's great for 60's and 70's rock, including AC/DC, ZZ Top, and Black Sabbath type tones, this amp won't do heavy metal alone. However, an overdrive pedal or tubescreamer (distortion pedals don't sound as good with it) will definitely get you into metal territory. I use a Digitech Hardwire CM-2 tube overdrive pedal and everything from Avenged Sevenfold to "Ride the Lightning"-era Metallica tones are well within reach. Great sounding amp!

  • this guy's videos annoy me

  • marshall haze or jet city ?

  • @michaelgroenewald7 jet city

  • I like this amp. Paul is actually playing "OK" here. I was thinking of a bugera 6262 or magician as my next purchase but this is jet city is looking good for getting a great playing tone at home but not so much the concert hall crushing. This is not the end all of amps to be sure. It just seems to have a real fun sounding valvish classic rock sound that will get the mojo going for cheap.

  • @GameLevelEditor I think that these sound alot better than the bugera amps, bugera amps are for people who think that more gain= better tone imo ,although the new bugera are self biasing witch i like!

  • I love and want Great tube tones but I have a real problem . I live in a attached house with many close neighbors . I desire a tube amp with good tone when it's played at very low volumes . Money is less of an issue . Any sugestions other than moving ? Thxs , Jerry .

  • @hutchfromba Quite a few options. The Vox AC4 is switchable 4 watt, 1 watt, and 1/2 watt. Not high gain, so maybe toss a good pedal in front. I have a VHT Special 6, switchable 6 and 3 watts, but it's just a TINY bit too loud for my apartment. Dial it back just a tiny bit and you're golden.

  • @thearmofbarlow What kind of pedal in front of the Vox AC4 ? Thanks for the info .

  • @hutchfromba I use a Danelectro Transparent Overdrive in front of all my amps. It's a very subtle effect that pretty much just adds to the amp's own tone.

  • @hutchfromba A 20 watt tube amp is still a very loud amp. You'd have to keep the volume at probably 3 or under to not bug the neighbors. You want a 5 (or less) watt amp, so I'd look at something like the vox lil' night train, which is a little 2 watt tube amp that would probably work well for you. Even at 5 watts you'd still have to keep the volume down.

  • Can i plug this this amp into a 1x12 cab running at 8ohm?

  • @WapServices they are $1332, i own one second hand, mine has gibson custom buckers and is set up real nice, id never trade that guitar anything, it sounds better than any LP ive ever touched, EVEN at guitar center.

  • @AustinGraggmusician Epiphone Customs? No. They're in the range Wap said.

  • @DavidRayT Mines back from just before gibson bought them out so mines not a common guitar, The 1332 price is for one direct from gibson on their site. yea i dont doubt they have the new ones for the 6-800 range. I cant find any of the old ones like mine in any store :/

  • @AustinGraggmusician Ah, yeah, that's the suggested retail price. Not how much everyone gets 'em for.

And whoa, didn't they buy them out like 50 years ago?

  • @DavidRayT Yeah i have no clue how my moms friend got a hold of it. You can tell its had work done on it if you look carefully, some new paint touches on the back of the neck and such. and the work the previous owners have done on it setting it up and such just makes it that much sweeter. Im going to install a bigsby tail here soon. But yeah fun guitar.

  • @AustinGraggmusician Sick man! I'm jealous. ;)

  • Paul Rules!

  • 400 euros amp..... and a 3000 dollar guitar... :\

    be carefull who you believe

  • You use this guitar in a lot of amp demos, Are the pickups stock or are they gibson PAF pickups? Great tone on all of your demos!

  • Does anybody know were these are made?

  • @Gibson735150 seattle, wa

  • @mccarthykid1 sorry but i must correct you.

The Jet City amps are made in China on a production line. Only the Soldanos are made in Seattle and are handmade.

  • @pardeepbhachu .who gives a shit? You also forget to mention a 6 to 1 difference in price. Made in China amps really kick ass nowadays, wait a little longer and Soldano will probably go out of business

  • Nice, concise review. Thanks for this!

  • Played one of these through the standard 1x12 cab with a Tyler guitar and an epi LP with EMG's, although the volume couldn't go past two (this thing has power)

It really sounds this good, although it would be better with an effects loop and maybe 2 channels if you like high gain

  • Guitar World is amazing! They manage to make every pedal, amp, and guitar sound identical!!!!

  • At 3:10 I thought he was going to start playing stairway... It would not have ended well for him.

  • these amps are muddy as hell plexi amp peavy ultra 60 and peavy ultra plus and peavy supreme 160 are the best amps and thy dont even sell anymore thy are so clean that you will get a very nice tone with them.

  • @TheScream432 Nice run-on sentence bro. I love it when people demonstrate that they can barely speak the only language they know.

  • @TravuhsWree great an English major...tool

  • @markdube4 WAHAHHAHAHA an English major... hardly.... ahahhahahahhahhahahahahahah

  • They sell these at walmart! Don't believe me? Go to walmart d ot co m and type jet city amplifiers! Cheap too!

  • These amp are actually very good for hard rock "/

  • Paul kicks ass!!!!! thanks for the demo Paul im gonna get one of these now :D

  • Amazing for Blues!

  • played one of these last night. the tone of your guitar comes throgh uncolored. very nice. ordering one today.

  • @AviatorAndyK youtube made it sound terrible, go try it in real life, you'll be amazed.

  • I'm an amp technician and a lot of people ask me if 20 watts is loud enough to play with a drummer. The truth is they lack the headroom of a 50 or 100 watt amp. BUt to out the ratio into perspective: 20 watts is around 70-80% the power of a 50 watt head. That is more than enough power. This amp with the master on 3-4 is deafening. You just can get the power section to break up easier than a 50 or 100 watt amp. FINALLY!!!! Somebody makes an amp thats all tube that a working man can afford.

  • To whomever was asking, I would take this over a TT any day. In fact, I did! haha. Seriously, this amp is a demon. The videos on youtube don't even begin to show the variety of fat, searing tone this thing has. Shit that no Tiny Terror I've ever seen can do!

  • Paul has the best job in the world.

  • The nobs/swtichs and the look of the amp remind me of Mesa boogie Mark V.

  • I own a jet city jca20h, and I can certify that this soldano creation is without question a superb example of the finest amp DNA available to musicians at their listed price points. You would have to be an utter buffoon to not realize this. And, I've played them all, had them blow up during gigs, be brand new and fail. But Soldano in my estimation is without question the top of the food chain when it comes to amp design. Get one today and achieve your vision!!!

  • @trevinor3 Get one today and achieve your vision??? Do you work for Soldano? lol

    JK

  • Holy shit, even this tool makes this amp sound good. I must have it.

  • So which knob(s) work if you plugged a preamp into the effects loop? volume/presence?

  • @BradSpead7 Yeah, the HT 20H is just about $100 more than the JCA 20H. I don't know which is better value, but I lean towards the Blackstar.

  • This thing sounds great! Now the question is, which amp do I choose...

    (I'm looking at buying a new amp...duh)

  • The rectifier is solidstate, and I really dont like solidstates so...

What does a rectifier do exactly and how does it affect the sound?

    Thanks

  • A rectifier converts AC to DC. A solidstate rectifier doesnt per se color the amps tone. But if a tube rectifier is used (think Vox AC30) it will sound different. Tube rectifers have an internal resistance. If the current is high (low frequency) they will give less power resulting in a spongy sound especially when doing palm mutes. Personally i like solidstate rectifiers cause it's punchier and has more bottom end. And they're a lot more reliable - that's why nearly every amp has a ss rectifier.

  • @TheGuitareater That doesnt mean its solid state. Im not really sure what that means. but i promise it isnt solid state. a lot of other famous tube amps have solidstate rectifier. including some marshalls

  • @TheGuitareater : for your info, some of the best amplifiers ever have solidstate rectification, including Marshalls plexi, JMP, JCM800 and so on ...

  • @realdocloco help me. i'm a drummer, but i play a little guitar. building a home studio. for a nice small amp, price being equal, do i want the jet city or an orange tiny terror? input please?

  • @sparkles67 : will soon know, I just bought the Jet City 20, will have it in a couple of days :-)

  • @realdocloco thx man let me know. anybody played both??

  • @sparkles67 I got a Tiny Terror a few months back. I run it through a Mesa rectifier 2/12 closed back. I will put this up against ANYTHING in the lower watt class. You can have a great head and a shitty cab, and you can guess the results. And we are listening to these demos over the internet, no justice whatsoever. If you can, play both, then decide. I love the Tiny Terror!!!

  • @TheGuitareater A rectifier is in the power section of them amp, a tube rectifier is only "potentially" better on a push pull amp and should have no effect on Single ended or Class A amps. This has nothing to do with whether and amp is solid state or tube, but I guess tone snobbery has gotten the best of you already so go ahead and waste money on rectifier tubes.

  • @BradSpead7 well blackstar HT stuff is not expensive too o.O

  • Best part?

    ITS A TUBE HEAD

  • jet city vs blackstar:who's gonna win?

  • @taxo Who wins? Consumer! heck low price/watt tube amps is the best thing happenin' now in gear world!

  • gibson custom eb *-*

  • probably asked already, is it two channel? and whats lacking that makes it so much cheaper than another Soldano head?

  • @EighteesBaby single channel. Kinda bummed about that cause I can't use a footswitch to change from OD to clean. the 50H and 100H have 2 channels if thats what you're looking for. They're made in china so thats what makes them cheap.

  • You're testing it with a freaking EPIPHONE!!? Was the Indonesian Ibanez GAX unavaileble? It's obviously a decent amp, but COME ON this is guitar world! I expect at least a gibson studio model or something... Not a chinese mass produced piece of crap with disposable wood and lifeless pickups.

  • @TheFriendlyfinger

I think he's trying to show you can get a great sound out of this amp without buying a gibson les paul. most people buying this amp are probably on a budget and playing intermediate guitars, so I think it was a good choice.

  • @epitaph664 I agree if the manufacture would of actually modified the headstock and inlayed Gibson on there it would of automatically sounded better to some guitarist placebo ears.

I had a 1970s El Degas strat which I fixed up and played it more over owning two Gibson LP black beauty customs, Gibson Honey Burst standard LP, Ibanez RG550, 1967 es135 TD etc! If a guitar has mojo it overides name labels which justifies your comment.

Though a Gibson 1966 es330 is another mojo I liked.

  • @GameLevelEditor yeah if u dont spend a billion dollars on a guitar it isnt good at all you might as well throw it away

  • @GameLevelEditor yeah if u dont spend a billion dollars on a guitar it isnt good at all you might as well throw it away. i got a fernandes 1978 strat with lace sensors and with my egnater its beauty, but since i paid 375 for it it must be awful

  • @TheFriendlyfinger Guitar World do reviews using gear that is attainable to the average musician, hence no $5000 Gibsons. They are trying to be realistic
