I can't believe so many people watched it as kids.. I watched thiisss allll the time as a kid.. like nooo joke ALL THE TIME i remembered it because my niece was just born and it brang back memories of my childhood.. just tripped so bad
Wasn't This Music Video Movie like a total turning point for all the stunning computer animated films we see today such as pixar? anyway I remember my first time watching this I was a stump on a long when I was at Ultimate Electronics store, where they had 2 home theater rooms on demo one had this playing and the other had a movie going. I sat there for the entire presentation. it was epic.
Oh, and I bought this JAN HAMMER cd, too.......... I don't care how dated people may think this music/video is, I say it is TIMELESS. I listen to this CD religiously and watch the video the same way.
Then you know what they mean. That's why the website is called ANIMATIONTRIP. They have to say it's for artistic purposes, but we all know what we are doing with these videos. I don't trip anymore, but watching these videos brings back so many memories. Check out all their videos on that ANIMATIONTRIP site if you want some good dvd's.
@TechnoFestDestiny You definitely weren't the only one. :) I had the VHS when I was little. It used to fascinate and terrify me all at once. I bet kids today would hate this, they're too spoiled with CGI and technology.
@TechnoFestDestiny No way man, I too have watched this so many times, you're not alone
I have gone to great lengths to acquire all of the original soundtracks and even rip the audio from video as apparently the OST is slightly different from what you see and hear.
Still though, Odyssey Into the Mind's Eye seems to be the most elusive along with Miramar's other works...
I too watched this all the time when I as a child, it's amazing! These are my favorite movies, with other movies that take imagination to create. Watching these warm my heart cause I used to watch them with my dad. He was the one that turned me on to these.
We took this video back in '92 and synced it up with White Zombie's first release..It was like Floyd meets the Wizard all over. Amazing connection all throughout the disc. Wish I could post 'that'!
I bought this dvd in 1994 when I was 18 and I used to play acid trance or techno while watching the videos and since I never did echstacy or non of that stuff this was pretty much my drug to me lol
the music is throwing me off because we always synced this up with Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. OK, I know everything syncs up when you;re on acid, but if you do this one right, :Welcome to the Machine will blow your mind.
This cool, but I could have sworn there was one called "The Gate" It had the latest CG of the 90's. It had some flying silver Knight at the beginning.
holy shit im suprised as fuck to see this on youtube i guess they do have everything i remeber when my dad got this he bought a VCR back in the 90's and this demo tape was left in it by accident man this is definately nostalgic for me i still have the vhs tape of it and for its time it was definately some pretty kickass graphics
The accumulated factors including the 90's quality, Hammer's music, initiative to even create and release such a gem, and pure art behind this production is overwhelming!
Exactly the same here folks, my brother brought it home when I was a child. I almost forgot it until now but I suddenly realize it was an inspiration.
when i was young i was like oooooooooo and wooooooowww thats the future lol watched lawnmower man the other day both don't stand the test of time but they are my faves still
The fact that this was even released still shocks me. I can't imagine the mindless masses watching this, since there is very little talking and no bon jovi playing.
Never will forget! Still have the VHS series but had to replace several times when loaned out and never returned. I can only imagine the impact of HD on a huge screen. And RIGHT NOW is a perfect time to re-introduce the message to the masses. Our understanding of the world is so much greater now and these visuals stand the test of time. No drugs needed to see that.
Yeah idk I think he is pretty lazy. He hasn't released an original video since 2000 and doesn't plan on ever doing so again. Someone needs to knock so sense into him and let him know the clock is ticking.
@ANOMTOfficial Sorry to hear he is suffering. I've learned the hard way that depressive friends don't respond well to knocking. lol A word caught my ear recently that might better describe what many suffer from under the fog of depression: listless. I'm giving that word a good thinking.
I remember seeing this when it first came out and thought how awesome it was and thought that it could not get any better then this., now computers can easily render all this in real time. even though, this will never get old and takes me back into the day when it was first released. still a great video and will always love watching it.
I want to see the one w/ the pteradactyle who falls in love w/ the fish, then cracks the water so they can be together... anyone know which one that is?( It is from the Minds eye series)
I used to watch this on Laserdisc at a computer store owned by a family friend that my dad and I would go hang out at all day every Saturday while I was growing up. This was such an awesome video.
I learned about this videos in More Music (a TV music selling channel in the pre-Internet era), and got a VHS copy, I lost the count of how many times I watched it. Very nice music and the CGI was top notch back then.
wow... I remember this from so long ago and it brings back so many amazing memories I always remembered this but forgot what it was called and know that I have found it, I can't stop watching it. I am definitely going to buy the original vhs tapes. Just amazing
@cptkirkamus Yeah, childhood memories when my brother rented a movie called Lawnmower Man. :D The guys that made that movie said they used scenes from this video. No lawsuits where made, so I guess they didn't care. To bad it's sequel sucked. But the first Lawnmower Man was pretty good.
I liked Part one, The Mind's Eye much better. "Beyond" borrows too many images that were used in movies and commercials. 2:03, and several times after this you can see these segments were taken from the movie "Lawnmower Man"
I bought this and the first video at Radio Shack when I was a kid and watched them more times than I can count. I think Jan Hammer is the reason I developed such a taste for techno. Thanks for posting this! Brings back memories.
