The good news is that if you have good health insurance, as I do, you've little to worry about today. The antivirals are fantastic. So much has changed since the bad old days up to 1995, when I honestly expected to be dead in under a year, due to my health circumstances of the time.
The *bad* news is that if you don't have decent health insurance, you're even further up shit-creek without a paddle than I was then. At least I had the NRTI drugs.
Bravo!!! Like your musicianship, you're working outside the box in the AIDS work as well. I'm an Episcopal priest in the Seattle area who, in the early 90s was rector of a congregation that had established a home for persons living w/AIDS. When normal church life was crappy, that's where I would go and have lunch with the folks -- life was real. I think your connection between the stigma of the organ and AIDS is quite correct. When you next concertize on out West, I'll be sure to be there.

I am a PWA and will be coming to your performance at the Hardman studio this month. Would you please play for me anything by Victor Herbert - such as Indian Summer, Moonbeams, In Old New York, Kiss Me Again, Absinthe Frappe, or Yesterthoughts. Also could I please pose with you for a photo after the concert? I tried using the communicate button I found at your website but I ran up against a brick wall named susan who was not helpful. What a fine young man Cameron is! The fact he is willing to discuss this subject is a marvelous. We need more people like Cameron Carpenter, not only in the Organ world but also the world in general. God Bless YOU Cameron Carpenter!
Of course - apologies for offense to people affected by medical accidents - but on the other hand so much of society is affected by heterosexual looseness - with many more consequences than unwanted STDs - unwanted children and broken families. And many young people not following Cameron's example of doing something AMAZING. Congratulations to Cameron for proving just what people can achieve if they want to . . .
MUWHAAHAAHAAHAA! Yeah, right. Sorry pal, but the wonderful state of Missouri where I live wont allow me to marry my partner of over thirty years because we happen to be the same gender. May I suggest more fibre in your diet? Trust me, it will help.
@amourdutigre Find someone willing to "marry" you and get married whether the State of Missouri allows it or not. What difference does it make...unless you are looking for some legal rights as a result of "marriage?"
There are two issues with marriage for those of us in same gender relationships. First, when the state denies us the privelage of being married, it is a clear and unmistakable statement that our love, lives and relationship does not count as much as a hetero's couples. Second, it would be nice to know that if one of us dies, that we would have the same rights of a hetero couple, namely that family members wont swoop in and take everything, which they can do now.
Good job. I also am an organist. I've had many friends who have had AIDS and during the early 80's many in San Francisco died. I'm straight but that doesn't make any difference. It really doesn't have an orientation barrier.

I wonder if Cameron Carpenter has played on the wurlitzer organ in the mezzanine level of the old Wannamaker department store (now Macy's)?

The way to get rid of aids is to banish promiscuity. Stick to having sex only with the person you marry or at least sincerely intend to marry . . .
What's the most expensive fuck you've ever had? The one when the condom broke, replied one person.
People should learn how to manage their sexuality without hurting or affecting others.

Or.... stop being judgmental and recommend a friggen RAINCOAT! Banish sex. Riiiiight. That'll learn em, by cracky.
Recommend that to the people who contracted this disease via factor VIII or pther contaminated blood products. Or nurses with needle sticks.
I just detest fools.....
