i had a pistol shrimp that came in hidden on some rock into my 120 gallon reef tank. That stupid shrimp ate most of my clean up crew and a couple slow moving fish! i finally had to take out ALL my rocks and search for the sucker- it was gruesome. You'd be sitting there at night and hear a 'CRACK!' and i'd just shudder...

No, I'm fairly certain capesquad means a pistol shrimp. Mantis shrimp are frustrating as all get-out and will kill your clean up crew, but if there are popping noises happening frequently throughout the night, that's indicative of a pistol shrimp.

nope.. pistols are harmless to most fish... and ive had a mantis (i purchased it for a species tank) and in the night i could hear him making his burrow in the rocks... the cack sound was him smashing into the rock making a burrow..... he was only abut an inch long but his noise was heard across the room... i fed him ghost shrimp and krill but he tried to eat a damsel i had in there with him.

I just wanted to point out that in the description that you say this shrimp is blind. It is not, it does not have very good sight but that doesn't mean it is blind.
