  • Nice video - terrible music. Why do we have to listen to trivial music while watching these elegant fencers? There is no connection, no reason

  • @danstrup thanks. if you can come up with fencing music that you want to hear in another video post a suggestion. until then, and i really shouldnt have to say this, there is a mute button

  • If he was to go when the arm was taken back, a simple parry, repost from jung would be present. pointless false educating clip.

  • ..not too bad

  • heck yea i wanna see a vid of u .......critizing is my specialty....other than fencing that is =P

  • ok well search my youtube channel for fischl. there are tons of bouts of me

  • @CyrusofChaos i love your fencing videos , thank you

  • @CyrusofChaos I'm looking in to schools right now, and I saw your name on Vassar's athletic site. How'd you like their fencing program when you were there?

  • hey cryus get a vid of u fencing. thats something id like to see

  • you mean like a bout of me? there are tons of them on my account but i dont think anyone wants to see an analysis video of me

  • @CyrusofChaos where are the videos of you?

  • @timodeusdragon look up videos of fischl fencing, there are tons of them

  • Andrew,

Very good video and assessment. It would be great if Nick could capitalize more on some of this timing.

  • Thanks for the epee video. (I do think punishment touch is Sports Center overdramatization. A counter attack that doesnt exploit an imperfection in the opponents game will fall victim to counter time or second intention.)

A couple of times, JS succeeds with the second intention. I think this reflects FJs sense of the tactical context. He is several touches ahead, and a double is as good as a single light.

  • What I see is Jin Sung reduced to a hot-doggy game of blade waving, squatting, and ducking, because he cant get Jeannet to take any attack seriously. This is, I think, because JS never attacks seriously. He presses the distance, hoping to draw a counter attack from a little too far away. When JS advances a little closer, he still doesnt make an attack. He stops and waits to see if he has forced FJ to show an opening. Instead, FJ counter attacks and scores.

  • AH! Cyrusofchaos is making epee videos now. Sweet. Cyrus, you are amazing. Thank you so much for uploading all of this.

  • soo subjective.

  • Another great upload, Cyrus :). Thank you muchly.

  • Firstly: Thanks s much for finally making an epee compilation, I've bee dying for one of them.

    Secondly: I love the music

Thirdly (to the fencing): I'm not too sure I agree with the concept of this video. I think a lot of the actions that you qualified as wrong from Jeannet could not have been punishment touches anyway. The distance throughout the whole bout is incredibly short mainly due to Jeannet not trying to tire himself (compare the boucing against Jin Sung and Tagliariol).

  • So with this distance, when Jin Sung makes his feint with a step forward, Jeannet needs to react because his under threat of any forward action that he would not have time to react to. The end of the extension which you say he should be waiting for, does not mean JS is going to pull his arm back.

Freeze frame just before the hits at 2:17, 3:19, 3:26, 4:23. In none of these cases waiting for JS's arm to pull back is really an option.

  • So what should Jeannet have been doing? I would say keep a longer distance where JS can not do these feints which end up hitting , and use his own attack which is more explosive and powerfull. I do think however that Jeannet wasn't too bothered about this match, just trying to make it to the next round without risks and just getting the doubles and sometimes singles due to his technical advantage. The only hit here where he seems more aggressive is at 11-8 where he actually was in danger

  • very very nice ...I like to see attacks Fabrice Jeannet and M. Tagliariol.

    thanks for the video.

  • a very nice video - but why the stupid music?

  • agreed, the music is usually much better. great video though
