I may not be able to run high boost but the K20 is still great. Also in one Fifth Gear review the Focus RS 2 liter was only .3 seconds faster than the Civic Type-R
@MaddDogg81 And my supercharged C5 is way faster than your RSX. So what. Your car didn't come with a turbo and/or 300hp from the factory. This Ford does. That's the point.
@JustinStrife Of course a boosted V8 is fast. Also Corvettes and Mustang Cobras cost over twice as much as my RSX, of course they should be fast you wanker. Cars are mora than about who has the most power. The RSX is better built and handles better
@MaddDogg81 The fact that you missed my point, shows how much of an idiot you are MaddDogg. Your car did not come with a turbo from the factory. At most, it had 200hp. This Ford Focus comes with 300hp AND has a warranty. Not to mention, it has stronger internals than your factory Honda motor. i.e., it was designed for boost, your car was not. For a 30 year old, your arguments mirror that of 21 year olds.
@MaddDogg81 Oh and excuse me while I laugh my ass off at your comment about your Honda handling better than my Corvette. I started out with Nissan 240sx's and Mazda RX7's, and I know what lighter weight 4cyl Japanese cars can do from a handling standpoint. They can handle really well, but they are not going to out-handle a Corvette if the suspension mods are similar. For starters, the Corvette has a lower center of gravity, is wider, and has a wider tire contact patch.
@JustinStrife I'm not saying my RSX handles better but then again the Honda fit outslalomed the Ferrari 430 spider and even the 1988 Prelude out handled some Ferarri's the Corvette and Porsches at the time. Hell, old Civics had double wishbone suspenion like F1 racing has. So don't count them out so fast. Also a really expensive car with high performance parts should outhandle most stock Hondas except maybe the NSX
@JustinStrife I'm not saying my RSX handles better but then again the Honda Fit outslalomed the Ferrari 430 Spider and even the 1988 Prelude out handled some Ferarri's the Corvette and Porsche at the time. Hell, old Civics had double wishbone suspenion. So don't count them out so fast. Also a really expensive car with high perforance part shoul outhandle most stock Hondas except maybe the NSX
@JustinStrife of course a boosted V8 that cost over twice as much as an RSX should be faster. I mean for fucks sake your kind compares boosted V8's that cost alot to an NA four banger, what a wanker you are. I'm on just 6.5 psi too so my power is prety damn goodd
@MaddDogg81 And here's a lesson for you on Forced Induction. Your RSX came with a higher compression ratio motor from the factory due to it being Naturally Aspirated. This Ford Focus RS, because it is turboed from the factory, is running a much lower compression ratio. Which means you make more horsepower per lb of boost than that RS does. However, it also means your car has to pull far more timing off to be safe, where as the RS doesn't. It can run far more boost than you can.
Why do Americans bullshit so much on the internet? You can't put a 5 pot 2.5 litre turbo in a fiesta. Sorry you just can't and thats coming from a Ford service technician who works on Fiesta's, Focus's Mondeo's etc everyday!
@plug007 Actually, you can. Seeing how my fiesta was bought totalled, it was rebuilt with the 2009 focus rs front end..from the dash forward..so before you assume I'm bullshitting you, understand the facts first..dumbass european.
@armybastarrd eventhough i have a 3.2 litre from a mk4 golf in a mk2 jetta i dont think that the 2.5 fits in a fiesta, those cars have the smallest engine bay ive ever seen friend of mine has fiesta from 2006 and he struggled to get a 2.0 from an escort cosworth in that bay and thats coming from a volkswagen service technician
once again a piece of shit car made for the straights. not corners, not even a drag strip. just a preteens wannabee rally car. quite trying ford, do us a favor and go bankrupt again. only this time.....stay that way!!
@Zeggawong Why? It's a poor 2.5l engine. Look at the Audi 2.5l engine, it produces so much more power and torque. Ford's 2.5l engine is competing with VW/Audi's 2l engine lol
Ps. On a side note, the RS still has a butt ugly interior and exterior
@Loush666 Doesn't matter where its built. But it was designed by Ford Team RS, so that technically means its a British car under an American badge built in Germany with a Swedish motor.
ive been lucky to drive the rs500 , sounds utterly amazing so much better than in any videos , the wastegate on lift off is awsome , ive heard the next rs will be a global ford effort , i just hope the yanks leave it to the europeans do develop, test , design it , then maybe il buy one
@GregsTechBlog i really dont get why you dont have them over there, quality fast cars with good handling seem to be a rare thing in the states from what iv seen, to top it off its an american company lol
@Aspireonthego so i should change the suspension, add a body kit to improve aero dynamics, replace the hood(bonnet) with carbon fiber, and better wheels. Would that be enough? :D
@Sherwin930 If you just want to make it as good as the rs in performance then new engine and a lot of performance upgrades like suspension, wheels, tires, racing seats, new brakes and etc, which will be very expensive. but looks wise the US ford focus looks nothing like a European RS, so there's nothing you can do for the exterior look wise.
Why is it Ford seem to have designed all their cars like a Kia? That huge ugly grill doesnt do it any favours either. Fords from the 60's/70's had individuality but a shame they now carry the chav image and this Focus is no exception. The only redeeming feature here is the Volvo engine..
@Draxindustries1 ure entitled yo your opinion mate but this is a reliable quality car with stunning looks and power handling sounds awesome and practicality what more could you want simply stunning!!
do your homework you no nothing!
watch the review with clarkson you might learn something after all!
@vincesplc How can it have stunning looks? Its a car designed by a Korean and painted matt black at that! Looks like something 15 years old and chavved up at Halfords!
Would love to see just how long that matt black paint lasts, it'll wear through and in no time at all will look dreadful. Whatever will Ford think of next? At least their offerings are entertainment value i suppose..lol..
For a car thats about £26,000 it has great performance and is definately a good buy. I love the way people who dislike it always moan about the torque steer, that doesn't really bother me to be honest. I do however wish ford would make an AWD version what is the point in giving it a rally sport badge when it's FWD theres a reason for rally cars having AWD.
I know making this focus FWD is a good idea but that really has put me off this car. 301BHP going towards the front wheels is a hell of an achievement and theres no getting away from that and the new rs500 with 345BHP to the front wheels is amazing but I don't think ford are going to be able to push it much further unless they finally decide to do an AWD model. Then it will also be a good bit of competition for the imprezza and the evo. FWD has seemed to of put many people off.
i dunno if I could live with that green, but is it only me that loves it in that colour deep inside? I mean, I kinda separates it from the others and looks special.
why doesnt Ford make this AWD so we can finally have something to start competing against the STI and EVO? just imagine how many sales Ford would make if it was AWD
I really don't get why we didn't get this car before. Rumors are we are getting them as well as the Kuga (new escape?) and others... Make me a 4dr RS and I'd buy it.
Just to compare... A Focus RS MK2 with 400bhp.. could that keep up with M3's and porsche 911's .. and is the engine capable of 450BHP with stock turbo
this car is not worthy of the rallye sport badge,it is built for 20 year old posing chavs in tesco car park not real drivers.end of story.ford is run by a bunch of bean counting clowns these days!!
@Wurdelprumpft ford have never built a good engine, cosworth built them the escort and they got that lump of volvo. 60-150 mph the 535d will blow it and i have raced 1! 0 -60 yea the lighter car mite have the edge but once the big bm gets going its just eating my dust!! yeehaa
@ajlod934893 200hp from a 2.5 V 6 ? honda get 198hp from a 2.0 civic. renault get nearly 200 from there clio, ford focus st 170. mondeo 2.0 130 hp. poor horse power out of big engines. you should of bought A vectra 248 hp.
@bigbigpaws I'm guessing that Ford opted for more area under the power-vs-rpm curve (i.e. more power at any given rpm), rather than focusing on peak power. It's not much fun to drive a heavily turbocharged car that only starts to really accelerate hard when it's within 1000rpm of the redline. I'd rather have less peak bhp but strong acceleration at any speed and gear.
@LMF5000 but the car has turbo lag!! every turbo car has. 535d has 2 turbos 1 small 1 that goes all the time, then a big 1 for even more boost. ford got there engine from volvo enough said, the same company that makes the 440 lol
@bigbigpaws Yeah, true. It would have been more awesome with a supercharger... But as you said yourself, the 535d has two turbos, so I'm assuming you still get turbo lag. And anyway, we're comparing a 3.5 litre engine with a 2.5 litre. Surely the small engine makes the car feel more nimble and agile (and I personally dislike the knocking noise of diesels and the black smoke they make at full throttle)?
@TheAlcapone100 "Ford" hasn't been "American" for a long time. Ford of Europe is a different company than the one that sells it's crap...uh, "fine automobiles", I mean...here in the US. The Focus RS owes nothing to the US except that once upon a time, a man named Henry Ford started a car company here. Both US and International Focuses used to be on the same (European) platform, but new internats have a new platform, while US still has the old one. So, sorry, not an "American" car.
@TheAlcapone100 I think they sell those in Europe too(?) And Ford has been making some awesome cars in Europe for like 30 years...look at the Ford Capri! Look at the British "Ford Escort" vs the American one. The Brits had a sick little front-engine, RWD car that is STILL highly sought after by racers, etc, while in America the "Escort" was a cheap-ass FWD piece of crap! Plus, most cars sold in Europe have been standards, while like 85% of American cars are autos. Yuck!
the only thing american about this car is the badge it is built in Germany, with German parts, by German people. so it is a German hatch. AND I WANT ONE BAAAAAAAAD
When is Ford gonna open their eyes and bring this car to the US, i had a 03 Focus SVT and i loved it, and when it was time to get rid of it, i had no ford to replace it with. So now i'm between sport compacts and it sucks!
I would give my left nut for your car, we can't get them here in the US. I had a SVT Focus, but it just doesn't compare to the RS, and i loved it. Can you get a ATB differential for it? that would be sweet on that car.
@sgtpetey2000 a lot of people are converting their svt's and what not to the RS. honestly, if i could just get the performance of the RS and the look of my svt i would be very happy.
I did. Enough grip in all case. I don´t need more 100 kilos senseless in this car. I want to have fun. The Focus RS is not made for 1/4 mile. If you need 4WD-go to Audi. The TTRS, 5 Zylinder, permanent 4WD, 58k Euro, 1520kg (FoFo RS 1468kg, 33900 Euro)
Clean and Clear the RS! All the rubbish out of the car - 1000 to 1200kilos!
@sharpanator Well you seem to have taken over this comments board. You really want that RS don't you? To me Infinity g35x is a much better value, better performance and a suitable car for day to day use. If you want to pay be driving fake 'rally' car going shopping or school/office - it is your choice. Of course people have difference taste, no problem. My point was that RS is overpriced, you are only paying for the look, it is still a focus.
What a car Ford have done it again!

my 535d is 315 hp and can eat the rs
bigbigpaws 1 year ago
@bigbigpaws No you can´t ;o) Save your diesel to grow corn. For race by something else.
Wurdelprumpft 1 year ago
@Wurdelprumpft ford have never built a good engine, cosworth built them the escort and they got that lump of volvo. 60-150 mph the 535d will blow it and i have raced 1! 0 -60 yea the lighter car mite have the edge but once the big bm gets going its just eating my dust!! yeehaa
bigbigpaws 1 year ago
@bigbigpaws I got the SVT 25 Duratec DOHC. 200 bhp (stock) from a 2.5 litre...I'd say its a good motor that Ford gave me.
ajlod934893 1 year ago
@ajlod934893 200hp from a 2.5 V 6 ? honda get 198hp from a 2.0 civic. renault get nearly 200 from there clio, ford focus st 170. mondeo 2.0 130 hp. poor horse power out of big engines. you should of bought A vectra 248 hp.
bigbigpaws 1 year ago
@bigbigpaws Yes, but keep in mind that was back in 1999, so you can't compare new cars.
ajlod934893 1 year ago
@bigbigpaws Have to remember this is a 5 cylinder engine not 6.
phoebeanner 1 year ago
@bigbigpaws I'm guessing that Ford opted for more area under the power-vs-rpm curve (i.e. more power at any given rpm), rather than focusing on peak power. It's not much fun to drive a heavily turbocharged car that only starts to really accelerate hard when it's within 1000rpm of the redline. I'd rather have less peak bhp but strong acceleration at any speed and gear.
LMF5000 1 year ago
@LMF5000 but the car has turbo lag!! every turbo car has. 535d has 2 turbos 1 small 1 that goes all the time, then a big 1 for even more boost. ford got there engine from volvo enough said, the same company that makes the 440 lol
bigbigpaws 1 year ago
@bigbigpaws Yeah, true. It would have been more awesome with a supercharger... But as you said yourself, the 535d has two turbos, so I'm assuming you still get turbo lag. And anyway, we're comparing a 3.5 litre engine with a 2.5 litre. Surely the small engine makes the car feel more nimble and agile (and I personally dislike the knocking noise of diesels and the black smoke they make at full throttle)?
LMF5000 1 year ago
@LMF5000 the 535d has no turbo lag, thats what the small turbo is for. as for black smoke very little and you still get 35mpg ;)
bigbigpaws 1 year ago
@ajlod934893 The Ford SVT Focus makes 175 hp from a 2 liter engine.

TheAlcapone100 1 year ago
@TheAlcapone100 "Ford" hasn't been "American" for a long time. Ford of Europe is a different company than the one that sells it's crap...uh, "fine automobiles", I mean...here in the US. The Focus RS owes nothing to the US except that once upon a time, a man named Henry Ford started a car company here. Both US and International Focuses used to be on the same (European) platform, but new internats have a new platform, while US still has the old one. So, sorry, not an "American" car.
justforever96 1 year ago
@justforever96 well yeahh but the fords in america are cooler than in Europe did you know that xD
FORD MUSTANG FORD GT alot of powerrrrrrrrrr and here in amerika the fords looks like old school :D
TheAlcapone100 1 year ago
but i like this ford too it's nice car
TheAlcapone100 1 year ago
@TheAlcapone100 I think they sell those in Europe too(?) And Ford has been making some awesome cars in Europe for like 30 years...look at the Ford Capri! Look at the British "Ford Escort" vs the American one. The Brits had a sick little front-engine, RWD car that is STILL highly sought after by racers, etc, while in America the "Escort" was a cheap-ass FWD piece of crap! Plus, most cars sold in Europe have been standards, while like 85% of American cars are autos. Yuck!

When is Ford gonna open their eyes and bring this car to the US, i had a 03 Focus SVT and i loved it, and when it was time to get rid of it, i had no ford to replace it with. So now i'm between sport compacts and it sucks!

I am Close to 400 hp on my RS MK2 now, still no Problem to handle it, you just need a bit of skill ;-)
BlueRaymaster 2 years ago 3
I'm sure you may have the skill, but no thanks! I wouldn't want that car. Take care.
lmw289 2 years ago
I would give my left nut for your car, we can't get them here in the US. I had a SVT Focus, but it just doesn't compare to the RS, and i loved it. Can you get a ATB differential for it? that would be sweet on that car.
sgtpetey2000 1 year ago
@sgtpetey2000 a lot of people are converting their svt's and what not to the RS. honestly, if i could just get the performance of the RS and the look of my svt i would be very happy.

lennyauditt 2 years ago
@lennyauditt No. Drive it. Test it.

My point was that RS is overpriced, you are only paying for the look, it is still a focus.
m42rus 2 years ago
I have infinity G35x - same price, 4WD, faster and more power also looks like a proper car, not a racing toy. I RS is overpriced
m42rus 2 years ago
@m42rus
infinity looks crap against this car, its looks like a real world rally car. Lol-Infinity!
