@SIONExHD@ChristianAltoSax you cant run leopard on a G3, only G4 (a certain version of G4) and up. 10.4 is the last supported version on the G3, you can hack leopard for it, but there is no point, it would be really slow
when i click, on the update firmwire thing it says thats only for the powermac g3 (wich i have) and i cant use it , if u dont update the firmwirethe highest u can get to is os x 10.2 and i want panther or tiger.
I have a newer one (blueberry with the slot loading drive) and tried to install tiger on it. Didn't accept it and spit the disc out. Can you rip the files from that disc your using and email them to me? I can give you my email address. Thanks!
ok, so sitting right next to me i have an iMac G3 with 64mbs of RAM running OS 9.1 How do I see the processor? Do you think that it could run Panther? PLEASE RESPOND!!!! thank you, Im way more familiar with newer macs.
go to about this mac i think yours is about 300mhz or 333mhz you might be able to run it if you get more ram but you probaly could but it will be a little slow
Even on the old tray loading imac, 10.2 runs alot better.. in case you didnt know... of course, Mac os x does indeed run way better on a slot loading... With regards to memory? Pump up the jam. I have a lime 333 with 256, updated, and ready to play, and that it does... just not as fast.. the biggiest issue is the slow bus. 66 mhz isnt bad.. it's just not fast. The slot loaders had a 100 mhz bus... way faster as a result. MY sister still uses her slot loader with mac os x 10.2, and does well
i have an imac G3 with no internet or cables or whatever and i have no idea what to do with it. the only thing that works seems to be itunes... help!!
Apple has a firmware page where they mention support after the new firmware for OSX - the old 233-333 machines with firmware 1.2 are supported with up to 10.4 Tiger. The ones newer than that with their 4.x firmware upgrade are also support up to 10.4. Of course you need 256mb or Tiger will crawl. The 333 card on the Rev A and B can accept and use 512mb. Mine is a Reb and is running Tiger and I'm a Mac rookie, been doing PC for the last 25-30 years with onlu a short period of Mac Classic.
Good video dude. Some nostalgia with 10.0 there. Fwiw anyone with a tray load G3 should use nothing but 10.3 Panther if they can get their hands on it.
did you need a dvd drive for it? my mom's friend gave me her old imac g3. it worked for a while. it had os x 10.3 on it but i got the floppy with a ? mark.
Where did i mention Leopard? It is a well known fact that old versions of OS X take longer to boot up even old machines than newer versions. I would recommend at least Panther.
Why put a shitty old version on it? The old versions run like shit :( I know that leopard won't work on it for obvious reasons but you should have tried 10.1 - 10.4 instead...
For some reason the only verson that will run on 10.2 or 10.3 absolutly sucks now, for some reason most sites dont display propperly, so i recomend firefox, that displays all sites
hey, i have the exact same thing as you man, but the PRO MOUSE. and i have like Mac OS X 10.0.4. Is there anyway i can get panther. something alittle higher, so i can run firefox and such,? thanks guys
I have one of those machines too... dunno if its rev. A or B, got it with a completely empty hard drive for 30 €. Currently has OS 8.6, and I transfer apps to it on a CD-R :)
the icon you're having at start-up is called "Happy Mac", and it was in the Mac 128K and was dropped in OS X 10.3. It just means that your mac has passed the POST and boots succesfully.
cool, I have all the Mac OS X versions. Cheetha, Puma, Jaguar, Panther, tiger, leopard and I have a early build of 10.6 snow leopard from WWDC 08 given out to developers, a developer friend got me it & in the loft i have Mac OS 9 and Mac OS 8

WTF, OS 10.0 Cheetah si very unstable, I recommend using OS 10.3 Panther for G3s (except for beige ones, one recommend OS 10.2 Jaguar)
MrComputerMAN2012 1 year ago
Leopard on an iMac G3 is not possible because Leopard requires an 867MHz PowerPC G4 or faster. Unless you get a G4 card upgrade for this machine.

can you upgrade a version 10.4 to a 10.5 or 6 (LEOPARD)??
SIONExHD 1 year ago
All the way up to OS X 10.5. Snow Leopard is the first version of the Mac OS to not support PowerPC processors.

@ChristianAltoSax your wrong. Is all the way up to os x 10.4.

Try Upgrading to 10.1 or above, i heard that this version has bugs
starkist1480 2 years ago
The main problem of 10.0 cheetah is its slowness. E.g. were there no prebindings for apps, which made them bounce ten to fifteen times in the dock

why? What would happen?

It will say it has not found something on the install and when you reboot your iMac is dead. It takes ages to fix.

Oh, because i upgraded a ibook to 10.2 and i am buying more ram so i can go up to 10.3, so how would i upgrade the firmware?
Because i have gone from 10.0 and just jumped to 10.2 and there are no problems, is it only with 10.3 and 10.4 where it must be upgraded?
