  • you can get me installation file copy for virtual machine?

  • is it really hthat easy? just put the disk in and set it up?

  • Damn I need one of these.

  • What is the RAM configuration on that iMac?

  • You do not need the firmware upgrade or you have done this before?

  • How much did you pay for the OS 10.0 disk? Iv looked on amazon and many other online stores but its very expensive which I can not afford...

  • can i have the disc???

  • can i buy that off of you ive been searching for that version to upgrade my mac you can reach me at 239 245 1259

  • WTF, OS 10.0 Cheetah si very unstable, I recommend using OS 10.3 Panther for G3s (except for beige ones, one recommend OS 10.2 Jaguar)

  • Leopard on an iMac G3 is not possible because Leopard requires an 867MHz PowerPC G4 or faster. Unless you get a G4 card upgrade for this machine.

  • BTW hes recording with a new MacBook

    1:40

  • Dude I have a eMac with 10.5.

And your installing the first mac OS 10 on a fucking iMac G3?!

  • Help I can't pass disk 1 after reboot I keep coming back to step 1.

  • yeah... i aggre with you

  • Hello. Does the iMac G3 need some drivers? Are they included in the MAC OS CD or something?

  • lol at 1:30 you could've just hit restart you didnt have to wait 30 seconds

  • can you upgrade a version 10.4 to a 10.5 or 6 (LEOPARD)??

  • All the way up to OS X 10.5. Snow Leopard is the first version of the Mac OS to not support PowerPC processors.

  • @ChristianAltoSax your wrong. Is all the way up to os x 10.4.

  • @SIONExHD @ChristianAltoSax you cant run leopard on a G3, only G4 (a certain version of G4) and up. 10.4 is the last supported version on the G3, you can hack leopard for it, but there is no point, it would be really slow

  • the 'small cd' you said about is a colored pinwhell

  • How the hell can you update its firmwire?

when i click, on the update firmwire thing it says thats only for the powermac g3 (wich i have) and i cant use it , if u dont update the firmwirethe highest u can get to is os x 10.2 and i want panther or tiger.

  • On 0:10, Yes. I think is mac os x cheetah.

  • hey man any chances u could send me a copy of that disc? i pay if u want?

  • I'm confused.

  • my god that looks old

  • i bought an imac g3 on ebay and i will install it

    thanks for the video

  • hey is there any way you could post a torrent for an .ISO file? (in case you didnt know an iso file is a CD image)

  • fuck ass

  • @sameer28101997 He will spam you if you say bad words.

  • ie 6 on Mac?

  • great video

  • them things look more like a tv than a pc

  • My friend has one of those and I installed Snow Leapord and it works great!

  • dude, snow leopard is intel only.

  • Yes snow leapard is for intel but there is a hack!

  • that's impossible. snow leopard is for intel processors only...this computer has a PowerPC processor.

  • There is a hack for it trust me!

  • this isn't snow leopard

  • it is cheetah

  • um...i know that...im not talking about the video. im talking about what TheVmware said in his comment.

  • @JustinTW995 im sorry, th new youtube sucks and it doesnt put the replies under the original comment, well i guess now it does

  • This isn't Snow Leopard - Snow Leopard is version 10.6, this is 10.0

  • i know....i was talking to someone else who said they had a friend who had an imac g3 and installed snow leopard on it.

  • @JustinTW995 snow leopard doesn;t have power pc binaries. it wouldn;t work.

  • @NitroGadvRules i know that. that's what i was telling that other person.

  • update the firmware and get panther, it's more useable for modern-day computing

  • I have a newer one (blueberry with the slot loading drive) and tried to install tiger on it. Didn't accept it and spit the disc out. Can you rip the files from that disc your using and email them to me? I can give you my email address. Thanks!

  • ok, so sitting right next to me i have an iMac G3 with 64mbs of RAM running OS 9.1 How do I see the processor? Do you think that it could run Panther? PLEASE RESPOND!!!! thank you, Im way more familiar with newer macs.

  • go to about this mac i think yours is about 300mhz or 333mhz you might be able to run it if you get more ram but you probaly could but it will be a little slow

  • it could probably run tiger

  • Even on the old tray loading imac, 10.2 runs alot better.. in case you didnt know... of course, Mac os x does indeed run way better on a slot loading... With regards to memory? Pump up the jam. I have a lime 333 with 256, updated, and ready to play, and that it does... just not as fast.. the biggiest issue is the slow bus. 66 mhz isnt bad.. it's just not fast. The slot loaders had a 100 mhz bus... way faster as a result. MY sister still uses her slot loader with mac os x 10.2, and does well

  • i have an imac G3 with no internet or cables or whatever and i have no idea what to do with it. the only thing that works seems to be itunes... help!!

  • can u make another video of this computer?

  • Apple has a firmware page where they mention support after the new firmware for OSX - the old 233-333 machines with firmware 1.2 are supported with up to 10.4 Tiger. The ones newer than that with their 4.x firmware upgrade are also support up to 10.4. Of course you need 256mb or Tiger will crawl. The 333 card on the Rev A and B can accept and use 512mb. Mine is a Reb and is running Tiger and I'm a Mac rookie, been doing PC for the last 25-30 years with onlu a short period of Mac Classic.

  • do you know how to update the firmware? as i try to install tiger, i get a message to update the firmware.

  • Try Upgrading to 10.1 or above, i heard that this version has bugs

  • The main problem of 10.0 cheetah is its slowness. E.g. were there no prebindings for apps, which made them bounce ten to fifteen times in the dock

  • Good video dude. Some nostalgia with 10.0 there. Fwiw anyone with a tray load G3 should use nothing but 10.3 Panther if they can get their hands on it.

  • Where did you get your 10.0 disk?

  • did you need a dvd drive for it? my mom's friend gave me her old imac g3. it worked for a while. it had os x 10.3 on it but i got the floppy with a ? mark.

  • i think just buy a superdrive and install that

  • There is a DVD version and there is a 4 CD version, at least 10.4 Tiger is available that way.

  • Why 10.0?

  • best he could get

  • becuase G3's aren't that advanced in hardware and probably won't run well with leopard durrr

  • Where did i mention Leopard? It is a well known fact that old versions of OS X take longer to boot up even old machines than newer versions. I would recommend at least Panther.

  • Why put a shitty old version on it? The old versions run like shit :( I know that leopard won't work on it for obvious reasons but you should have tried 10.1 - 10.4 instead...

  • Internet Explorer????

  • 10.0 was before safari... i think it came around the time of 10.2 or 10.3

  • 10.2 had safari

  • I just upgraded my iMac G3 to 10.0.3 then to 10.1... i thought i could use safari on it but it said u need 10.2! im only one software away!!!

  • For some reason the only verson that will run on 10.2 or 10.3 absolutly sucks now, for some reason most sites dont display propperly, so i recomend firefox, that displays all sites

  • I have an iMac g3 with Tiger. But always remember to upgrade the firmware before even thinking about putting the disc in!

  • why? What would happen?

  • It will say it has not found something on the install and when you reboot your iMac is dead. It takes ages to fix.

  • Oh, because i upgraded a ibook to 10.2 and i am buying more ram so i can go up to 10.3, so how would i upgrade the firmware?

Because i have gone from 10.0 and just jumped to 10.2 and there are no problems, is it only with 10.3 and 10.4 where it must be upgraded?

  • hey, i have the exact same thing as you man, but the PRO MOUSE. and i have like Mac OS X 10.0.4. Is there anyway i can get panther. something alittle higher, so i can run firefox and such,? thanks guys

  • Good thing someone gave you a compatible version of Mac OS X for that vintage iMac.

  • I have one of those machines too... dunno if its rev. A or B, got it with a completely empty hard drive for 30 €. Currently has OS 8.6, and I transfer apps to it on a CD-R :)

the icon you're having at start-up is called "Happy Mac", and it was in the Mac 128K and was dropped in OS X 10.3. It just means that your mac has passed the POST and boots succesfully.

  • Actually it was droppen in 10.2! It was replaced with the grey Apple.

  • Did you upgrade the firmware first? Why not go to 10.3.

  • cool, I have all the Mac OS X versions. Cheetha, Puma, Jaguar, Panther, tiger, leopard and I have a early build of 10.6 snow leopard from WWDC 08 given out to developers, a developer friend got me it & in the loft i have Mac OS 9 and Mac OS 8

  • Only Mac OS 10.0 Had the beauty of the Aqua Interface.

  • No, Mac os X 10.0-10.4! then in leopard only some things were aqua

  • i would try panther if you have it it seems the fastest to me

  • lol a G3 on OS 9.

    wowowowowow

    thats uh, old

  • you're the biggest apple fan!

  • WRONG. I AM!!!! lol

  • cool stuff!
