I'm not sure exactly why the senate banking commitee even exists. If the federal reserve is a privately owned company, the owners should be able to appoint whoever they whant to run the company. I have a feeling this is just a show to make the public feel that the government supports the Fed. What they fail to realize is that the public is not stupid, and this won't stop more people from raising questions about how the economic crisis is being delt with. This PR move doesnt fool anyone.
