what an awesome feeling and a great accomplishment. Congratulations. Some day i would also like to run/walk in a 5k. Im still working on getting myself to the gym i need to work out more :/
@Karlainwndrland It really was a great feeling. Just finishing and knowing that I ran the whole thing and I did it in a pretty respectable time too! It was very cool to say the least. Well, do whatever you can to just be a bit more active. Going out for a walk or hike in woods near your area (if you have any) is a GREAT form of exercise. But if you're like me and you don't mind going to the gym, then get to it! LOL Good luck to you!
...and sign up for stuff. I'm going to be signing up for a "10 miler" race event in C'ville next year, but there are some 5ks before that which I'm going to look at. There's even a 5k at the local park near where I live, but they just had it a few months back when I was barely running! THAT 5k is one I will definitely do, it will be very emotional for me because that park is where it started.
@weightlossfordudes (cont.) that initial fear and I've run my first race. Its all starting from here! I'm so excited and constantly checking websites for local races that I can do! What a fun new hobby for me that encourages exercise at the same time! I'm loving it.
Amazing. I love your idea for a bulletin board or scrapbook. That's vital I think! Not just for running but also for weight loss (which I guess our vlogs help with).
Great to have the first-ever medal for an athletic event! Woo-hoo! You and I are both there, I never got an award for ANY athletic thing in my life. Still haven't, as of now. I was always the "last one picked" in PE.
Many times I put off fun things out of some type of fear. I agree with you that we should "just do it"...
@weightlossfordudes I've seen others (like Jonesee) do something similar with the bulletin board idea. I think its important to keep track of your successes and celebrate them when you accomplish something new. I think you hit it right on with why I kept putting off entering into a race. I WAS scared of something. Maybe I didn't think I could do it??? (Which is weird because I've run 5ks on my own a thousand times). Or maybe it was just insecurity...??? I don't know...but now I've gotten past...
Congratulations girl! You are awesome! Haha, look how addicted and pumped you are about running! I'm just the same about running now too. It's funny how much I've changed and what I want to achieve with my running and how totally hooked I am now. It really changed my life. I'm so happy for you and I'm gonna be looking forward to hearing about all your training and races along the way! Yay for Julie! :)))))
@BarefootJax Thank you. Yes, I'm addicted and pumped about running in general. I'm not sure what happened the past few weeks prior to hearing about this race, but for some reason, my running kind of dropped off and I was no longer very excited about it or enjoying it. I was thinking of it as a chore for some reason. I think this race was the catalyst I needed to become excited again.
@Jonesee90 Aw, thanks! I did notice in some of the pictures that my leg muscles are definitely much more defined than they ever have been in my entire life, so hell yeah! Thats a plus! hahaha
@ASXL41 I'm motivated about running in general again! I don't know if you noticed but for some reason I had kind of lost my enthusiasm for running. Maybe it was because I couldn't run in the mornings anymore....I dont' know...but I think this race was what I needed to reignite the excitement and passion for running.
Congratulations on your FIRST race! That is a NICE medal and stands for a LOT of hard work!
