@kycruisecrazy The Samsung Un46b6000 Led LCD uses 50% less energy than an LCD and it has the best picture you will see on any TV. It is absolutely stunning picture quality. Also has no mecury or lead in the tv so it safer for the inviroment. the tv is only 1.2 inches thin. You can get this model on Amazon for 1,290 no tax no shipping and be exactly what you need
I got a Panasonic TC-50S14 (also known as S1) for under $1,000 and the picture is amazing and I haven't even tried calibrating it yet. It is energy star rated however it's a plasma so it will still use a bit of energy.
Im getting a XGA HD Projector. Going to set it up in my 12x7 bedroom. And place my computer speakers (logitech 5.2 x-540) in my room. Ill also buy a long cable and run it to the computer. Get a Netflix susbcription for Blu Ray, and enjoy :)
According to beyond3d it's running at 600p, same as the first Modern Warfare. Had to do this in order to get fairly consistent 60fps, but at least you don't have to spend double the cash(or triple in my case) to get a decent modern PC to run it at 1920x1200 (16:10 instead of 16:9 for wide computer monitors). Consider also that a 23 or 24 inch non-TN panel capable of full HD rez will run you about the same as a much larger 720p flatscreen.
Hell, I paid the same amount of money for my GTX 285 as I did for my PS3 last year. Stay the hell away from high-end PC gaming if you value your sanity. Learn from my suffering.
Because majority of games run natively in 720P no matter what a PC or XBOX fanboy might say. Yeah the XBOX automatically upscales to 1080 but it really doesn't look any better because it's the same image. If you really want to force 1080 you can go into your display settings and uncheck all but 1080
My question is why isn't my cable digital hd channels appear sharp and improved, but not blu-ray level? I've been to two houses now with similar HDTVs that look almost 3 dimensional on their cable channels. Am I missing something? HDMI cable check. 1080p check. Quality... kinda.
It's called compression, which cable companies do, so that it can fit through the bandwidth of a coaxial cable. You won't get blu-ray quality from cable for some time. Compression results in a loss of picture quality. If thats what your asking.
I don't know. My friend and I were watching a Bluray and it look so good that it almost looked 3D. But when I visited my cousins' homes, I was surprised to see that the same bluray quality was coming from a cable box. The same cable box provided that I have. One of them told me they had someone come by and do something to their tv.
I have it, and the results are alright. Strangely, I can tweak it in various ways, get different looking pictures, and yet the color filters tell me that each is right.
I've seen a professionally calibrated screen by a person who used all types of waveform / vectorscope equipments. And the results are prefect.
I'm merely mildly satisfied with my DVE results and am uncertain if it's the DVE's fault or my television. But it's nowhere near the professionally calibrated monitor I saw.
The professinal calibrated a Sony plasma when Sony was still making plasma and getting very bad reviews from Cnet.
I was totally blown away by the results of the calibration. It was 100% beautiful to me.
I have a Pioneer Elite Plasma. And Cnet has given the Elite the number one award (editor's highest score) for nearly five years. But I must admit that the Sony looked more desirable to me at that time.
so on top of buying an HDTV, i have to spend even more to calibrate it right?? goddammit EFF THAT! this is just more crap to buy more crap...as far as i can see my HDTV is more high def than the 90's TV i have so i'm satisfied.
why is it coming to a point where everybody NEEDS to PIERCE their senses to BEYOND perfection?! get over it and enjoy the simple things! yeesh i hate todays technology and the companies who try to suck every penny out of the little people that give them business
this is only a calibration for the manufacture presets tho :(
what about plugging in and bringing down those levels

Also I wouldn't worry about gta in HD too much. It's really not very good graphics wise.
