  • Beautiful, i'm sure Bach appriciates it

  • This VPO technology is nothing short of mind-blowing. Was the reverb added after the recording was made, or is it built-in to the Hauptwerk electronics and/or program? You can tell I don't know much about VPO systems. Also: What speakers and amplifiers are you currently using? And, how many channels? Perhaps you recorded this without speakers or mics, and connected the VPO directly in the the computers sound card? Thanks!

  • Simplesmente magnifico!!! *--* XD :)

  • That is awesome. what a talented guy and what a beautiful piece of music

  • why when I search bwv I found you

  • WEON DIME QUE CHUCHA HACÍAS EN XVIDEO ? XD

  • Rob, I love this piece, and I'm trying to learn it. The manuals pose no problems for me, but the pedal part in the center section is a real stumbling block for me. Some e-friends on a chat list have sent me some suggestions for pedaling - one even sent me the toes-only pattern. I'm using heel+toe. I notice that you appear to be using toes-only for this piece. Am I correct? Thanks.

  • wonderful... and I just noticed, that your video has exactly the same length as Koopmans ;)

  • Great!!

  • Can I make a request? Charpentier - Prelude to TE duem. Will you be playing any christmas music?

    take care and Merry Christmas!

  • Helmut Walcha played this even though he was blind...amazing.

  • ! Excellent! friend, you play very well, and even feet, and that is admirable, as I have never seen a piano or organ with bass in the feet. This is a very appreciated, in my opinion, to run a Gregorian chant, which is so beautiful and healthy, and beautiful works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Pachelbel Jhoan, Mozart, Beethowen, etc.. Even "Let It Be" by the Beatles. Congratulations.

  • Nothing sounds better than a real pipe organ. Really.

  • Aber es ist zu schnell - why ON EARTH so fast? I have never been hurrying up to the Heavens no no - though I had to obey this VOICE calling us wheb my time came - doch es ist auch geschrieben Alle Menschen muessen.... bitte next time a litttle bit slower - woudl you mind? - yours JSB - otherwise fine - Greetings from Leipzich with apologies for my substandard English JSB Cantor

  • the shoes are terrible :DD my grandpa draws something like this on :DD

  • @IloveDimaundSaschaxD

    Ich stimme zu! Haha :-D

    tragen = wear

    anziehen = put on

Veilleicht "My grandpa wears shoes like those" wolltest du sagen. :-D

    Mach's gut!

  • Lovely....!!

  • hello, I'm Antonio from Modena (Italy). It's possible to send me the type and the software that simulate the pipe organ?

    Many thanks

  • @2004flipper

he is using two different software packages to produce the organ sound.

the first software package is called "Hauptwerk". Hauptwerk enables you to install samples of many different organs from around the world produced by a variety of software venders.

the second software package is the "Bovenkerk Hinsz organ", which is produced by Milan Digital Audio.

  • You sound like a professional, and the sound of your organ is very beautiful! Your ornaments are excellent, too! If you ever come to Norway, please let me know!

  • Rob you must practice for 24 hours a day to be so faultless in your playing! this was amazing your tempo is perfect and always on time! Thanks for ALL your vids on YOUTUBE, please keep posting more!! PS, my favorite period is baroque!

  • Nice except the lower voice sounds a little to close to a vuvuzela to me. Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick. Well played.

  • This is my favorite organ piece! Very good interpretation! I wonder, why, do you never use your heels? Everyone I saw playing this piece didn't use their heels.

  • something you could do, just so it doesn't sound quiet so rushed, is slow it down to between 66 and 69 bpm... not to say that it isn't good... but every once in a while things sound good slowed down a bit.

  • Nice shoes!

  • wow, nicely played. I want an in home organ but with stops, simlar to yours but with the stops not being touch screens. any suggestions?

  • Quite simply, perfectly played. many thanks.

  • Hermosa pieza, hermosa ejecución.

  • Excellent rendering of this wonderful piece. We had it at our wedding during the signing of the register and it's always been a great favourite of mine. Love your PIP video as well as your playing. Thanks!

  • One of the best performances out there! I play it at about the same Tempo! I see you get your inspiration from Ton Koopman. Right on!!!

  • bwv 645? isnt that cantata bwv 140?

  • I like the fact that you play it slightly faster than the "standard" way. My compliments... I am fishing out all the movies I can find on youtube where you play this amazing virtual instruments. I also have hauptwerk, but I stick with the free organ that come with it... its better than what I have to my disposal in the town where I live... at least a decent 16' pedal reed! Anyways, I love your playing, its marvellous.

  • superbe interprétation, claire nette, phrasé parfait

    Merci beaucoup

  • What a great little home organ!

  • You good man :D very very good :D

  • your pistons are engraved now...

  • I am in love with this piece .... and again it is Bach .. he is truely the master ...

    wonderfull playing sir !

  • Very good, but al little bit too fast.

    LG Velo

  • !!!

  • Thanks for sharing! It's my favorite Advent piece. And I definitely like it at your tempo. When it's slow, it puts the "sleepers" to bed. Your tempo definitely says, "Get up!"

Now if only I can figure out a way to wake up to this during Advent....

  • Verry well done, maybe little bit too fast.

  • Hello! Its a very nice organ! Who is the builder of this manualconsole?

    Greetings! fr. Samuel

    samuelonmusic

  • What a great performance! I have loved this piece almost all my life and can't wait to learn it myself. BTW, do you use the advanced or basic version of Hauptwerk? Im thinking about buying it. Thanks

  • I am particularly fon of this and you play it with such flair. A truly splendid sound, thank you! I have just discovered your recordings and am having a ball listening to them. Talented man! (And how I envy you the instrument.)

    David

  • I like this song.

  • The sound of this recording is absolutely astounding. So rich and perfect.

  • The tonal sound is amazing. What is this a ???????

  • Excellent! I got into Hauptwerk virtual organ recently and I am thrilled of its potential! I liked your interpretation, through I prefer it on a slightly lower tempo! Well done!

Jacques.

  • Awesome! How did you label the combination pistons?

  • Sounds great for a computer generated pipe organ! Good reverb as it sounds so natural. Plus you play great too!

  • Thanks very good!

    I like Hauptwerk.

  • Very well done!

  • fantastic! i can definitely hear elements of Koopman's playing, but it's still very original.

just wondering, what console/ pedal board are you playing on?

  • great playing

  • Rob - words can not express this video, it was so beautiful - thank you for sharing - Lance ♫♪♫

  • I'm expecting to log on here sometime soon and see you playing the 5m AS console . . You're certainly ready . .

  • As usual Rob, pretty professional!

I just don't know if it is the organ or the suit ... ;-)

  • So can we request something... i dunno like carillon de westminister, or the Hollins trumpet minuet???

  • @ryanr3300 Hi Ryan, both of those pieces are high on my to-do list. I'm currently working on the "Sinfonia to Cantata No. 29" by Bach.

  • Another question Rob..... Did you get your bench from CMK and was the height ok for you? I found mine to be about 2 inches low and wondered if perhaps you altered yours? If so, how? Thanks again, Pat

  • @Capt737AA Hi Pat, I have an adjustable Rodgers bench that I got from a local dealer.

  • Hi, first I want to give you my compliments. I simply adore how you play it. I'm proud to have such an organ in my country; the St Nicholaschurch in Kampen.

Well, I'm a beginning organ player, and I'm learning this piece right now, but how do you know which foot to use for what note. The pedals...

Is it written down or do you have to find it out for yourself?

  • @Gspijkenisse Since this piece is pretty standard Bach, one generally plays slightly detached with toes only. I'd say don't over think it. experiment with different pedaling and follow the path of least resistance.

  • Okay. But how should one practise if one doesn't have an organ...

  • @Gspijkenisse Is there a nearby church where you could get some bench time? You'll need an organ to practice playing pedals, not much you can do to get around that one.

  • Yeah, I am an organist. But I only play once or twice a month.

  • @Gspijkenisse or somthing you could do (which i do quite often) if you can't get to an organ, is sit at the general height of an organ bench and just do the foot movements for the pedal... Generally you want to be up high enough to the point where your feet are just grazing the top of the pedal, not down on top of them. You wont hear the bass notes of course, but it can at least help with ankle movements for the notes...

  • @stefanussen I use this piece as a postlude on occasion. It is a fun piece to play. My favorite of the Schubler Chorales, though, is Auf meinen Gott.

  • @Gspijkenisse ,

usuallly, theres a rule: If you´ve got two lines of music, you´ll always play the bottom note of the left hand (i.e. the treble-clef) with the pedal.

This also means that you wont need to play that particular note with your hands...

  • @BigLuca911 Don't quite understand you, msorry. :D

  • verry nice playing , you have make me that i like this pieve be now.

    what is your registration ?

the vox humana isnt it , did it ?

sorry for my bad english i am dutch man , sometimes i go to this wonderful chruch.

    greetings

  • @gerardesberg

als je op meer info klikt zie je wat de registratie is. hij gebruikt de trompet van het hoofdwerk als uitkomende stem

  • @gerardesberg The exact registration can be found in the description.

It's basically flutes 8', 4', 1-1/3' in the right hand, trumpet 8' in the left hand, and flutes 16', 4' + principal 8' in the pedal.

  • Nice job, Rob!

  • BTW, I hope you won't be led by various comments to play these pieces at any faster tempo. A poem can never be read too slowly and most fine music can't be played too slowly either. For those who want great literature played fast we have Anthony Newman and many others. (After hearing his playing of pieces like this I'm worn out and feel like I've been rushing to a fire somewhere. The music never has a chance to reach me as your playing of it does. I definitely side with your sensibility.)

  • It's all been said already! You have the Midas touch in every way! (I appreciate what you said apparently regarding the wildlife scenes and the repetitive nature of this work but I hope that most of your future posts and great videography just sticks to the organ shots.) How do you keep from getting a big head after all the well-deserved and glowing remarks about your playing? Thank you Thank you Thank you!

  • @jcapistr So you don't tire of of the camera shots? I always felt the same old angles needed something else mixed in with them.

  • Rob...... where is your music lamp base sitting? As I put my system together, i don't see a ledge of sorts or clear place to position the lamp to read the music.

Thanks for the continued wonderful music you share with us!

    Pat

  • Hi Pat, the lamp is an IKEA lamp, and it has a little clamp that clamps onto the back of the music rack.

  • As always - perfect and modest though. No doubt the best performance on youtube! Greetings for your wife:)

  • So schön! Deinetwegen werden sicher viele Junge sich für das Orgelspiel entscheiden. Grüessli, gäu.

  • Danke! Liebe Gruesse an die Familie!

  • THe (DAMN what's the name of the third manual) sounded a bit soft from recordings I have of that piece.

  • Interesting to hear that, because I always thought that it was a bit loud in some other recordings. Contrast is critical, but too much contrast can spoil the counterpoint. I personally thought the contrast between the Rugwerk and the Hoofdwerk was just right, which is one of the reasons I picked the Hinsz.

  • You are the only person I have subscribed to, rather the only people worthy of a subscription! You have made the organ my favorite instrument!

  • the videos get better each time!

  • Very nice and enjoyable to listen to,,, as always.

  • Hats off to you, Sir. This is the finest performance of this work I've ever heard. I love your warm colorful registration and tempo.

  • BRAVO!

  • Tempo is perfect! Neat, articulation perfect and great performance overall. You always are dressed up for these - nice - maybe Jasmin's idea? Jasmin does a great job with the camera work!!

  • @rttipton There's just something about the black and white of a suit that matches the organ nicely. :-)

  • Rob, A new performance by you! Again, I love to watch your hands and feet, such economy of movement. I will use your example as what to strive for. Beautiful playing and registration. The Hinsz is an interesting sample set. With your resources of samples, it would be fun to take a selection and perform it on different sample sets and then edit that group together to contrast instruments. I think an interesting concept for us orgeeks! Thanks to Jasmine for her efforts.

  • Very clear images, very clear sound, very clear playing; thanks Rob, you're the "king" of HD video!

I oprefer a bit to slow but only for my personal taste. 5 stars!

  • @giovdan Thanks Giovanni. Some people really like the faster tempo while some prefer a slower tempo. I knew it was a gamble! Thanks for the kind remark regarding the video.

  • I agree -- the camera work is fantastic! Very professional. And your playing is always so graceful and lyrical. Thank you for bringing some sunshine to a gloomy Monday morning!

  • @tshreenan Thanks, this piece has always sounded like "sunshine" to me. One of the reasons I enjoy it so much!

  • First-rate, as always. Thank you. I notice your videos have become much more professional.

  • @RialtoTwo Thanks. This piece was more repetitive than others, so there was a lot more work involved in planning the shots in a way that they would keep things flowing and interesting.

  • yes! wonderful indeed!

  • I like It! - Awesome Stuff!!

  • @RobCharles1981 Thanks, Rob.

  • Your Welcome! What Camera and Audio do you use with your videos?

  • wonderful !
